I own a black 2013 5.7L RCSB TRD Off Road 4X4 with the center console and shifter. I'm the original owner with 24K mi right now. Every time I consider getting something newer I think about how reliable and versatile it is. All that space behind the seats means you can carry your important stuff securely and out of the elements. It's a rare beast with the power and capacity to haul and tow just about anything yet park in regular parking spaces because it only has the footprint of a Tacoma. My only mods are supersprings, Line-X spray in bedliner, headache rack and aftermarket LCD radio. Not only is it rare but it's a jewel of a vehicle.
I've actually owned 2 Tundra RCSB TRD Off Roads: A 2010 and a 2013. I got so excited when I saw this video pop up on my recommendations! A guy who works at the factory was on TundraTalk and said he estimated they made less than 500 RCSB Tundras a year during the entire Gen 2 production run. Mine were both 2 seaters with the center console. Most of these got exported. They are very popular in Saudi Arabia apparently. I'd be happy to talk about my experience with these trucks if you ever want to do a followup or a collab video.
You’re not kidding about a unicorn that truck with the condition, low mileage is almost unbelievable. Lots of luck. I love regular cab trucks but nowadays most manufacturers only produce these in work truck trim . Great find .
Man, that Tundra is super clean. I wouldn't even touch it at all. Keeping it in its truest form makes it look its best. IMHO, I hate lifted or heavily modified trucks. Most are very tasteless and are only used as status symbols or for looks. To me, the best looking truck is one that's bone stock with very light or tasteful OEM modifications such as running boards, tonneau covers, mud flaps, etc. Nothing too crazy. And to see a 2010 single cab with only 27,000 miles on it in a rare color, you definitely have a unicorn. Definitely keep it simple like you said. Don't go too crazy and make it ugly. Who knows, it might even be a collector's item one day.
Sweet truck. Mine is an 07 black reg cab short box 2 wheel drive. Just turned over 280000 miles. Still runs great. I get people wanting to buy it from me all the time, but it's a keeper. I bought it brand new and have loved it ever since.
Had a 2010 Tundra 4x4 TRD regular cab black with the 4.6L in it. Didnt realize how rare it was when i bought it. It also had 1600lbs payload. Very decent truck all around and very rare too. Used it for my business but needed something much bigger eventually so i sold it this spring.
I’d hold on to this one for a while. Like, a long while. These 5.7L single cab short beds are only gonna get more rare and far more expensive to find in the coming years. Unicorn is a understatement! Keep this one or sell it to me please👏🏻🤙🏻
Great find of an original "Survivor" Shorty Tundra! Now do everyone a favor and either keep it 100% stock or resell it. At most wheels and tires. I would not remove one nut, bolt or screw from that beautiful truck.
What a great looking truck, I'm big Toyota fan and had two original T-100 full size pickup. I had a DX and then upgraded to SR5, these trucks run forever. I sold my pickup with 225,000 miles and a friend bought it and drove it for years problem free. You found a awesome ride there bro, nice color, good luck with it.
Yoooo!! I literally bought a 07 RCSB in salsa red pearl yesterday. Not as pristine as yours but super excited. Look forward to more videos from your build!
I just scooped up an 07 double cab limited 4x4 as my first tundra with 210k miles, absolutely love it and only thing ill trade for is a specific color rock warrior. THAT BEING SAID im definitely interested in also getting a 2wd rcsb, so i can build something quick and lowered(i love lowered street trucks but won't do it to a 4x4 double cab)

That thing is clean! Only 27k miles which is insane. I put roughly 20-25k miles on my truck in just a year. You should just keep it stock. It looks great!

Knowing what you know now, are any years of 2nd gen RCSB better than others? May be too hard to find to worry about, regardless. Thanks, and great truck.

Nice truck. I have a 2013 TSS Tundra. I love using E85. Its cheaper, burns cleaner and gives you a little more HP. Care to share why you wouldn't want to use it?
Ethanol is pretty corrosive. You'll have to change your oil half as often, decreased MPG, and it will wear down things like fuel lines, injectors, fuel pump, etc. at an increased rate. I've ran that stuff in my Subaru's for high boost applications but that's about the only time I'd run it.

@socalexpeditions Cool. Thanks for the reply. I've been looking at swapping out my 05 sequoia for something a little newer with a few less miles for a camping/mountain/overlanding rig. I've mainly been focused on tacomas and 4runners. And then I saw one of these single cab 2nd gen tundras for sale in my area and thought, huh, that would make a perfect overland rig if I added a topper. My dad has an 09 tundra 4 door 4x4 sr5 with the 79 inch bed, and I've always liked that truck. The issue with that truck is that it's a bit long for an off roader/overlander. But that 2 door is 19 inches shorter, but with same length bed. Plus that 5.7 on a smaller lighter truck seems like it would be awesome. Tons of options for toppers and high end aftermarket suspension. Suddenly I'm considering it as a great option. From your experience with your truck off road, do you think it would make a good overlander? What do you think of the ride on and off road?
Toyota made less 4X2 5.7L RCSB than 4X4 5.7L RCSB ... I rescued my rust free 2007 4X2 5.7L RCSB in 2017 when it had 270,000 miles, it has 315,000 miles today... the love is real.

Fair enough. From 2007-2013 were the only years these Regular Cab Short Beds were made. A total of 5,063 of them during those 6 years. In 2010, there were only 916 of them made. Most of these 4x4 trucks were exported to Saudi Arabia and other countries. Finding one in the states, not rusted out, in an optioned color (not the standard white, grey, red, black), with low miles, and that is 4x4 with the 5.7L is very difficult. I hope the helps.
Fair enough, thanks! Beautiful truck! My son just picked up a toyota tacoma sr5 so now we are getting into learning about them. Sorry if I seemed direct.
