Pardon what sounds like hyperbole, but this is one of the best cruising videos ever. Manot and Robert so clearly and gently explained how well the boat worked for them, with ease, comfort, efficiency and confidence. It's a real testament to the very interesting, thoughtful and ultimately correct design decisions made by the Windelo team that the boat worked so well. The concept of these boats is excellent, and it seems the execution is too. A performance hull, with electric drive and lots of solar is absolutely the way to go. Far more should be doing this. Hopefully they will. That the backup Diesel generator (making her a serial hybrid) got zero use is quite practical with good sailing performance. Naturally, efficient sailing also benefits electric regeneration to recharge the battery and/or power house loads when needed. The open salon and front helm are unconventional, but highly rational. The social and watchkeeping benefits for a couple (or larger crew) are clear. As a Chris White fan, front helms are arguably the best. The lack of hard cover at the very front of the forward helm is a concern, but as Chris White's front helm Atlantics shows, there is relatively little spray so far inboard on a catamaran, even in a storm. (Obviously this depends on hull and bridgedeck design too.) And there is a hard bulkhead just aft of the front helm. Of course one would close that in a storm. (High performance also means being able to avoid storms better.) Most fun is that there is a lot of clear and informed thinking in the design while not simply following what others have done before. That is innovation. I also like the relative minimalism. Less is more. Simpler is better, and lighter is faster and more efficient in many aspects. Merci beaucoup!
This is exactly the video we've been waiting for. I look forward to more of these types of indepth testimonials. Job well done! Thank you Windelo team.
I absolutely love this interview so much. Just listening to these sailors and getting their feedback, experience makes me want to own a Windelo Catamaran. Please interview more owners.
Thank you so much for your comment. Other Windelo owners’ testimonials are coming soon on youtube, stay tuned ⌛. And to get more feedback, here is a selection of testimonial articles 😉: www.windelo-catamaran.com/en/windelo-54-owner-interview/ ; www.windelo-catamaran.com/en/windelo-50-adventure-owner-feedback/ ; www.windelo-catamaran.com/en/windelo-50-adventure-feedback-after-a-weeks-sailing/
Tre Bon this is how it should be done … I loved that shot through the aft doors in a strong swell. We need to see Windelows making speed in stronger seas. Also the cockpit view s in a messy storm. I know they can Handle it well but a lot of dyed in the wool types just won’t believe it till they get to see it. Especially if you head far North like sailing Uma did. Good luck . 🧙♂️🇬🇧🌊💨
Many have already said it, but this is terrible. This is the sort of thing a child has a poster of on their wall. I’d be embarrassed to be seen on this thing.
all yachting channels need to take a leaf out of this video - super well structured. beautiful job, Windelo Cats!!!
