Looking for various catamarans and trying to compare then after my own criterias, but since I stumbled upon Windelo catamarans I think I found the clearly winner 🏆. The cockpit is at such a great spot, way ahead of the other designs. Superb visibility, well protected in bad weather yet you have a great sailing experience and ventilation once you open it up. You are still connected with the Crew in or outside, wherever they are, far better then a flybridge or an aft Cockpit at the end of the hulls. Renewable materials used to build these beauties, the electric engines, that much solar is so far ahead of everyone else in the business, wondering how in hell nobody else is going in this direction.
Now looking back on my favorites in the past, I just can't get rid of the idea that Windelo is the one I would take to live on or doing a circumnavigation. Big fan of you guys, keep up the good work!👍🧭⛵
Agree it's a bit silly that others are not using more solar, electric drives and forward cockpit. And basalt fibers. All are relatively new except the forward cockpit, which Chris White was doing 40 years ago.
Simply love this boat and the creation and values of Windelo. Hope to sail one in the future and be part of Windelo!

As someone actively in the market for a blue water catamaran, Windelo just moved straight to the front of the list. The design, layout, and pure functionality coupled with renewable energy and sustainable living is exactly for what I have been searching. I hope to see this either at Annapolis, or Miami soon. I did not see factory provisions for a pure downwind sail. Is this something that can be offered as a factory-installed option, or should I be seeking aftermarket support for this type of setup?

Its nice seeing the systems at work but you might also in this case want to show how the boat works in the rough.. and with the cockpit closed off ..

Windelo is at the very top of sustainable performance cruising Catamarans. The cockpit seems derived from gunboat, with more of the sail controls inside. In my view the cockpit is fairly large, taking a lot of space from the salon. The two walls behind the wheels ought to be glass and cockpit and salon more integrated.

Love the design. Definitely a winner. 3 concerns in no particular order. 1 the build material. How easily available will repairs be able to happen? Much like the first guy in town that buys a Tesla, nobody knows how to work on them. Fiberglass is everywhere and readily available world wide. 2. The Windless being up in the forward cockpit. Won't you being in a lot of muck and seawater into the "living space"? Is there an automatic chain wash We haven't been shown? 3. Is there a hard solution "window" that could be inserted to replace the "clears" in the forward cockpit during foul weather or when leaving the boat? After just a few years, "clears" aren't so clear.
Basalt fiber is stronger than fiberglass, but the repair techniques should be similar. I personally would be ok with a fiberglass patch.
There is a washing system for the anchor chain above and behind the anchor roller. The chain path from the roller to the first bulkhead is open to the water below.
The clears should be easily replaced. I would not mind a hard hatch option also.
Id like to see you reach out to someone like the O kellys with their experience of living and travelling on a Cat and looking at and sailing various performance cats..
You would get a lot of experience and appreciation from such a focused couple of long distance sailors with their performance and sustainability focus.👌
