I've just spent 2 months in Thailand. Not an investment thesis, but I can tell you user experience. It's miles better than Uber as a customer experience.
Hi Brian , how would you compare it to UBER ? Valuation wise, it looks like much more expensive, while having a similar growth...
Good question
In Thailand the competition is Bolt, but the main problem at least in Bangkok is locals do not use rideshare app, they just flag taxis which are plentiful and cheaper. Mostly foreigners use the app from what I can tell because taxis will try to charge western looking people more even though there is meter. I don't know how it is in other southeast asian countries though. And similar situation with food delivery.
Same in Philippines - I do see this changing in time though as both countries get richer. Plus its just less effort
recently subscribed to your channel. Really enjoying these videos. Thank you for sharing your insights!
Lots of competition for grab in Thailanf Malaysia Indonesia.. loved the user experience though
Already 50% up on this, bought after earning a couple quarters ago when it dropped based off "missed" earnings when it was due to FX
Firstly Thank you Brain. It is %8 down today
TSSI is a small cap to check out. It maintains datacenters. Based in TX near where they are building tons of datacenters.
I knew it would be grab
Love this company. Very useful in Asia (Thaïlande)
How would you compare it to, say, SEA?
Bolt is the biggest competition.
why not buy uber instead..
why not both
This company seem to be at about 10% of the market value of Uber which to my eyes is a lot. How big can their total addressable market be in that part of the world? Good video but not so interesting company.
It's massive.
It's huge! Indonesia alone has a population of almost 300 mio people. Plus all the other countries.
It is easy for anyone to find how big Indonesia by population, GDP or other metrics is. This doesn't mean the addressable market and the potential of the company is more than 10% of Uber. And that's just basic comparison, not taking into account so much more than just that. Anyway, good luck making money.
@ I'd encourage you to look into its addressable market further. The CFO has made comments on this in the past. Dara Khosrowshahi is on the board of Grab and Uber own a 27.5% stake in Grab. Clearly that is a significant sign of confidence in the company. Grab is positioned well to become the 'Super App' of South East Asia not just an online taxi company. It's already a better app than Uber from personal experience.
the title of this video just doesn't make any sense
No small caps please, got burned with SC
It has an $18B market cap, far from a small cap.
No!
Lets assuuuuuume.
Love it
I used the app for the last months, so basic, nothing special, easily replicable.
It’s not about the app per say, but the service they offer. I have first hand experience and it is positive.
Damn. Stoopid genius
