I personally have a conspiracy theory that Yoko Taro is a rouge Hideo Kojima clone produced by the game industry that ran away and is plotting a secret attack on the original.... His mind is not like ours
The stage play actuly explains how she is able to survive 9s's god level hacking. Its pritty much as you say yes. She modified herself specifically to resit YohRA executors with 9's hacking ability as she knew they would eventually come for her
She’s survived for over 200 years without ever contracting the logic virus. So it makes sense that she has developed a very strong resistance against hacks and malicious software programs.
this is such a cool easter egg; I was too high leveled the first time I fought A2 I didn't even bother hacking; thus never knew about this; thanks for making this vid :D
The fourth hack was really innovative and creative. It's like a fourth wall break that makes sense and doesn't break the immersion of being in the game. It makes you think how much further they could've gone. Like imagine theres a 5th hack where you acc traverse through her menu options and force her to pull out her os chip.
man it's such a shame that the best and coolest hacking minigames are the only when you DONT want to hack cause it's so disorienting and EXTREMELY immersion breaking especially in a scene like this
I didn’t do the hacking because I didn’t want the minigames to interrupt the dialog during the fight and when the minigame is over, the game didn’t pick up the dialogue where it’s left and simply skip it :(
2:20 It's crazy that the chip tune version of this particular track is actually BETTER. It's almost like it was written specifically to be digitized, it's so perfect.
likely was, something i relezed when i noticed the effort put into this hacking minigame is you where never supose to fight her physicly..its confuseing becouse when 9s is the final boss he DOES fight you physicly with status effects representing hacks.
Hold up... that might genuinely have been the idea! It could've been that the developers were expecting players to be using 9s' hacking as there go to offense at this point in the game, but because players are typically VERY high level for this section, it does too much damage to see all the unique minigames. The oversight, then, is that they probably should have had hacking damage scale differently (also, the boss is level fifty when it really should've been level 60 like Koshi & Roshi). Or perhaps included some chips that sacrificed hacking damage in order to strengthen something else.
ALERT ALERT ! The 4th wall received critical damage ! Breaking the 4th wall can make the player lose his sanity ! Proposal : Stop playing the game if still possible.
I am sad because I was too leveled to get to the last two. I killed her from two hacks and was never able to see how these went. Thank you for posting.
If you are under level 61 (maybe 62 too), on hard difficulty, you can still hack her to the last one. More than that and you do too much damage. That said, these hacking challenges aren't included in the arcade, so feel free to use debug mode and give A2 infinite hp so you can play it yourself.
I think it’s supposed to represent how complex an androids software is. Typically, the machines hacking mini games have a simple environment (Not to say they can’t be hard. They just have a basic visual appearance.) But A2’s systems are more complex showing off other areas beyond the mini games. Nice detail. (PS: Appearance auto-corrected to “App wrench.”)
Thats pritty on the mark actuly. If you serh up the stage play or novel it explains alot of things like this. She legit modified herself to deal with hackers of 9s's god teir ablity. As she KNEW they would one day send someone of his skill. to kill her without getting in range of her close combat(rember before pods A2 modals had no meens of long range attack, aside from possibly shockwave plug ins.) Another fun one is the reason 9's can weild a sword..dispite being a 9s modal. He hacked himself to be able to swing a blade..yet it failed as he was still unable to SWING it..his answer cyberpunk telekeness, this is also why he can only use one weapon. It takes ALL his energy..or I guess you could say Ram or CPU to even swing a weapon. He had to program it at the expense of something else.@Zashura
this should be a requirement, that you cant beat A2 unless you hack her i was overleveled when i got to this fight so i did two hacks and then she was pretty much dead
Yumi doesn't understand that videogames are an interactive medium and narrative is weaved through gameplay. I'm actually amazed you like nier automata if you don't understand that. The greatness of this game is all about how cohesive the experience feel. The story is good sure but it's the way that it's narrated that makes it great. The fact that your U.I. is actually part of the game and what the characters experience rather than just something for the player to interact with but that has no bearing on the world is one of those aspect (undertale also did that for exemple), and that kind of thing can only happen in a videogame. Nier automata isn't just an awesome story, it's an awesome game. It wouldn't have nearly the same impact as an anime, a book or whatever medium you'd want to adapt it to, it is inherently a video game story. Same with the music. Sure the O.S.T. is great, but what makes it stand out so much is that it adapts to what you are doing in game as a player trying to fit to the mood of what it's happening rather than merely telling you what mood you should be in regardless of what you are doing. Or basically everything that is great about this game has to do with something like this. So no it's not a simple menu and honestly the fact that you care about people reacting at something not how you'd want them to already show that you don't really understand how you should look at art and think about it. The fact is that this "simple menu" is inducing a strong emotional reaction in a lot of player, and this mere fact makes the appearance of this simple menu a great artistic performance. You don't judge art by whatever objective criteria you want to appose it and then say "here is the objective criteria, now feel like you should feel in front of this". That's the other way around, artistic creation is objectively good when it makes you feel something. And in the case of nier automata this "simple menu" (in the context of everything else happening in the game of course) is one of the greatest moments in gaming history. Yes that sounded way more aggressive than it should have =( sorry I got all frustrated because I didn't see it when I played the game due to 9S being lvl 90 and killing A2 super fast! I'm so sad I couldn't experience it firsthand.
Lols you're essentially hacking into her OS chip (remember if it's removed you automatically die) so essentially the hacking game is a clever way of playing that out via a mini-game from "Nines" perspective.
That menu was so cool. I wish it was mandatory. I have my 9s with max strengthens up with max xharge up with max level spear so I was spamming y charge attacks near the end of the game.
Not necessarily mandatory but at least make it "if the hack is going to kill then go to this hacking section". That way you can't miss it just because you played too much of the game and your hacking deals too much damages.
Damn I died halfway at the last hacking sequence and it still damaged A2 anyway, killing her off. I totally missed out that final picture it formed. Holy shit that is cool af.
In the final section of this hacking minigame, this is like a book end game play In route B, you literally play in this perspective with pod, when 9s gets severely injured
Nice. When I did ending D I didn't even bother with hacking, as I'd increased levels so much that I was thirty levels higher than pretty much everything and could just hang back firing lasers at everything until it died. I guess the original YoRHa types had better system protection or something.
Now if only they'd made the menu here actually reflect A2's stats in the battle itself. It clearly doesn't here, as her HP in the fight is around 25% but the HP shown in the hack menu is closer to 60%.
So honestly, what's the significance of the Item screen that forms in the last minigame? I'm glad I found this though... Didn't know this existed at all. Too overleveled and killed her pretty much in 10 seconds lol.
ZyanTheWisp I'm guessing that this would be the first place you would go to if you were going to open the menu mid-fight, so he probably caught A2 trying to find an item to heal with.
its the significance of you killing your own character, its showing A2's status as you played her, what level you got to, how much heal and exp, and its showing you kill it, end it with your own hands, or as it lies in game, it is showing 9s killing the core data that makes A2.. A2
And this is on ending D. So no matter which one of the last two real endings you want, this is the last thing you do in the game if you follow the order Not counting the hellish challenge afterwards for a special something
How dare you hacking into A2’s head? I never got ending D or E only cause I didn’t want to lay my hand on my girl A2. Watching her suffering makes my heart tear apart. So is 2B. Love you girls forever.
Thank you for sharing this video, I was level 70 when I reached this battle so A2 only takes one hack. (I finished rute A on lvl 56, I know I was wrong)
The first two hacks were such a pain on keyboard and mouse. The cardinal directions are bearable for every other hack, but the fact that the layout was tilted...
man i wish they made hacking mandatory in this fight! i was way too overpowered for this and even ended up missing out on the initial dialogue because i jumped the gun to get the ending out of the way.
use debug mode r2 plus touchpad to make her invincible. the debug grid looks daunting at first but at the top of the screen it tells you wt the important ones do, i think oponent invincibility is one of the far left ones
I really wish they changed final cutscene if we killed A2 via hacking ........ they could hv added something like A2's eyes also turning red like 2B when she died or A2 turning her self destruct mode 'on' .... as soon she gets hacked to avoid logic virus
I was too strong in that fight (my level was high enough to make this fight a breeze), so I didn't even attempt to hack A2. Well, that being said, after watching this video I'm quite sad because I missed such an interesting hacking level. I'm glad that there is a chapter select option hehe :^)
I was equally leveled with A2 (Around 50 that time) and I didn't even hack her because I thought I couldn't, so I fought fairly with her to be honest, unlike others, I rather do the side-quests after I have finished the game, I focused more on the story than the side-quests overall.
The game actually assumes you're gonna do the sidequests in-story. Certain lines behave as if you did the quests, and others wont even appear at all if you didnt do the quests. Examples: 6O asks 2B to take a picture of flowers on the surface early-game. If you do this she'll be thankful, but she'll also say, in a broken voice as she's losing herself to the logic virus during the bunker's fall, something along the lines of '2B, thanks again for the flowers. I'll find a way to repay you, I swear.' Another example is the peculiar behavior of 9S's own Operator, who suddenly was treating him like a child at the final operation. This stemmed from an earlier sidequest with her where you helped her discover things about humans of the past. Most of what you found though were children's shoes, record on families, toys, etc. She became obsessed with the concept of families (she broaches this when you fight her as a boss) and wanted 9S to be her son, since androids cannot make their own children. The uncertainty of the group at whether the machines are evil or deserve what's happening makes a lot more sense if you do the sidequests too, especially helping Engel (the one broken in the city ruins) which not only shows the humanity of the machines a great deal but also expands on the androids' own lack of knowledge of how the world died, as Engel asked them what happened to make it to where the sun no longer sets. There's also the Emil quest, which expands on the world, and what occurred between Nier and Automata, which previously was only covered in a side novel. Beyond that, there's just a lot of quests that just arent as much fun if you do them as an afterthought. Some are built purely to foreshadow things, or expand the lore. Others are pure fun and meant to be surprising. This isnt the type of game you should save all the quests for afterwords. Some maybe, but not all.
TheOneOfSeven same but I thought somewhere along the lines you would fight Emil as a lvl 99 after the game so after getting ending d, I grinded up to 99 from the rabbit boss in the park. Unfortunately I was wrong though so I over leveled myself for nothing.
So...what will happen to her after the ending E, even though her body survived.................she does not have an after story to support that she did not reactivate....but then....now I feel uneasy about what happened to her after ending E..............😞
The only thing I hated about this game was hacking. The story, the music (I love Nier music!), the combat (nice, definitely not great -- Witcher 3 level) -- I almost platinumed it. I love the game. But hacking... ughh... for the most part it was not so bad, I tolerated it, but when as 9S I was tasked to hack through the second resource tower -- I wanted to kill myself.
Gonna say it probably wouldn't work, since Hideo Kojimas games usually focus on real world problems as underlying themes, while Yoko Taros games focus on philosophical issues as underlying themes (Nier Automata for example is existential crisis)
Literally dont have to hack if you dont want to. Normal enemies dont require hacking, and only certain bosses need it. If you wanted, you could make it to where only story sequences and locked chests require hacking. Kind of a stupid reasont o drop a game honestly, it's not something that's pivotal to every single fight, and is very minorly there if you dont choose to use it.
When I realised the picture the last one was forming, I flipped my shit. How is this game so filled with surprises?!
Yeah, it seems weird at first but even this makes real sense. I just love how insanely smart this game is.
I personally have a conspiracy theory that Yoko Taro is a rouge Hideo Kojima clone produced by the game industry that ran away and is plotting a secret attack on the original.... His mind is not like ours
Hideo is a clone of Yoko
This is possible mainly because the game was made to satissfy the gamers and not the sales
Hei Li dude imagine a collaboration between those two
*stares* I don't get it...........
*Ten seconds later*
HOLY SHIT. IT'S THE MENU.
Jesu, A2 must have the ultimate anti-virus software
The stage play actuly explains how she is able to survive 9s's god level hacking. Its pritty much as you say yes. She modified herself specifically to resit YohRA executors with 9's hacking ability as she knew they would eventually come for her
A2's also the only android to ever survive an encounter with the red girls before the events of Automata happened.
She’s survived for over 200 years without ever contracting the logic virus. So it makes sense that she has developed a very strong resistance against hacks and malicious software programs.
Unless compared to ending e
@@agrihonoberjorn1612 That is the level fire wall of god since they do not want us to reach the true ending.
this is such a cool easter egg; I was too high leveled the first time I fought A2 I didn't even bother hacking; thus never knew about this; thanks for making this vid :D
Not an easter egg, its just how the whole game is designed
This game is a "Hack" and Slash for a reason.
Underrated

Same here, didn’t use his “hacking” abilities, cuz it skips a lot of dialogue and sometimes may even break or skip the part of the cutscenes…
2:20 It's crazy that the chip tune version of this particular track is actually BETTER. It's almost like it was written specifically to be digitized, it's so perfect.

Life is pain
unpopularpatch >didn't hack because I thought the fight would be more dramatic and cool that way.
>Despair
Same, only just now have I seen this.
Explorer Sorada same lmao
Yep same here 2 more levels and he would not have been able to get this.
I am sad because I was too leveled to get to the last two. I killed her from two hacks and was never able to see how these went. Thank you for posting.
use debug mode r2 plus touchscreen to make her invincible
i gotta replay this by hacking now. i just punched A2 to death
*camera pans out*
*ptsd intensifies*
(I'm talking about Drakengard 3's final boss)
You are probably one of the 20 people who played that game

the hacking fights were so great in this game. the 8bit music and unique levels during the fight against a2 was so suspenseful

It's weird that there's no timer though, probably it's a later feature where Machines and Androids can auto reject hacking if the hacker is too slow.
It's a way to come into a girl's heart :D
This game tells stories so well, even the hacking mini-game and pause menu had character arcs. What a payoff.
This uses the gameplay to tell a story, rather than putting a story in the way of gameplay like other story driven games nowadays
@@lowhp_comic ikr, this is a perfect video game for story telling. it's just so seamless
So in reality, when 9S was hacking enemies- He was invading their menu screens!
what the hell is in A2's head

Dang, this game has SO much details and I really love how the community kept finding more about it and sharing :3!
this should be a requirement, that you cant beat A2 unless you hack her
i was overleveled when i got to this fight so i did two hacks and then she was pretty much dead
When the camera pans out in the fourth hacking minigame I smiled like a little kid, so fucking awesome
I don't think those are that hard but they are certainly amazing and shouldn't be optional.
Lori: this IS the story.

my jaw literally dropped when i first played it and realised i was fighting in the menu. this game is amazing
I never saw this! I only hacked her once because I wanted to fight her fair and square, and 9s's hacking is a little OP in my opinion.
try hacking with keyboard and mouse controls o 3o
Op is the nothing this a android level
Damn I died halfway at the last hacking sequence and it still damaged A2 anyway, killing her off. I totally missed out that final picture it formed. Holy shit that is cool af.
I love the 8-bit hacking soundtracks. They’re so cool.
I can't believe I missed this
Dont hurt my hero A2!
In the final section of this hacking minigame, this is like a book end game play
In route B, you literally play in this perspective with pod, when 9s gets severely injured
Which instance are you referencing?
Nice. When I did ending D I didn't even bother with hacking, as I'd increased levels so much that I was thirty levels higher than pretty much everything and could just hang back firing lasers at everything until it died. I guess the original YoRHa types had better system protection or something.
still, nothing beats the ending scene hacking mechanic.
This is still cool
Sound of the End is now associated with two of the best surprises. One is A2's pause menu and the surprise hacking mechanic in XIV
it disappoints me that some people skipped these and just fought her head on with a scanner...
ckowkay because nobody love 9S, not even 2B. i practically skipped his cutscenes and rush through ending B just to play A2.
I love 9S more than anyone else in this game, honestly. Unpopular opinion? Perhaps, but 9S is best boi.
omg YES WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE CARING nines :'( Theses fucking machines corrupted our best happi boi
because it feels badass to destroy things as a scanner model with *brute strength*
well, some people want a fair fight. hacking into a machine and destroying it´s mind isn´t really fair
So sad I was already close to lvl 99 when I fought A2, all I needed was 1 melee combo + 1 Hacking minigame
you can use the debug menu to make hr be immune to damage if you want to play this hacking minigame
This was pretty clever.
Man, I completely missed this and beat up A2 with my own two hands.
Now if only they'd made the menu here actually reflect A2's stats in the battle itself. It clearly doesn't here, as her HP in the fight is around 25% but the HP shown in the hack menu is closer to 60%.
That's just fucking genius.
genius*
So honestly, what's the significance of the Item screen that forms in the last minigame?
I'm glad I found this though... Didn't know this existed at all. Too overleveled and killed her pretty much in 10 seconds lol.
ZyanTheWisp I'm guessing that this would be the first place you would go to if you were going to open the menu mid-fight, so he probably caught A2 trying to find an item to heal with.
she's a playable character who can presumably access the item menu. It's basically what you'd find if you could hack yourself.
Its the same thing you see if you delete your data in ending E, basically you're deleting her.
The item screen for androids is kinda like where their programming and codes are. In a way he's deleting her data
its the significance of you killing your own character, its showing A2's status as you played her, what level you got to, how much heal and exp, and its showing you kill it, end it with your own hands, or as it lies in game, it is showing 9s killing the core data that makes A2.. A2
shit... A2 has a strong defense system ;___;
Almost 3 years have passed & I'm seeing this (the last 2 hacks) for the 1st time.
WTF
Omg it took me so long to figure out that it was the menu😂😂😂
I am not proud of myself
We were afraid the menu panel would subdivide even more. 😮😮
At 2:22 I really wish that more hacking was done at this perspective, so cool!
I can't help but wonder if this is how the game started off and the creator showed us what was going on in their imagination in the rest of the game?
And this is on ending D. So no matter which one of the last two real endings you want, this is the last thing you do in the game if you follow the order
Not counting the hellish challenge afterwards for a special something
How dare you hacking into A2’s head? I never got ending D or E only cause I didn’t want to lay my hand on my girl A2. Watching her suffering makes my heart tear apart. So is 2B. Love you girls forever.
Technically you can do Ending C twice to get Ending E, since the trigger is having completed either Wnding C or D and getting either again.
I kept trying to hack the commander when I was in the bunker...no luck.
I fought her to much with regular weapons in between hacks and could only do the first two before she went down, thanks for this!
Sad, I'm first seeing this now. Best game I've played in a while.
I was not anywhere near good enough at the hacking to get that far. that's amazing. this game is full of surprises.
The one time being underlevelled paid off
man i wish they made hacking mandatory in this fight! i was way too overpowered for this and even ended up missing out on the initial dialogue because i jumped the gun to get the ending out of the way.
So if I look at this, you're hacking your way through the whole menu, every button, every tab, and the whole screen of it?
Damn, i didn't even try to hack her
what an incredible game it was.
even when it went kinda high, i did not realize it cos i was so focused on the shooting
Dammit, I'm way too over levelled to do this myself. She dies in 2 hacks.

Oh, cheers man! :)
one of the only few times when I decided not to hack because I felt I needed to focus more on physical attack as 9S
I now regret levelling up before fighting A2
not a big fan of bullet hell mini game, but this one is so fucking cool!!!
I really wish they changed final cutscene if we killed A2 via hacking ........ they could hv added something like A2's eyes also turning red like 2B when she died or A2 turning her self destruct mode 'on' .... as soon she gets hacked to avoid logic virus

That's AWESOME!!
I'm too powerful to get to the last one.
THE FINAL SCREEN THO
I was too strong in that fight (my level was high enough to make this fight a breeze), so I didn't even attempt to hack A2. Well, that being said, after watching this video I'm quite sad because I missed such an interesting hacking level.
I'm glad that there is a chapter select option hehe :^)
I didn't even know about this all these years. Shit. I guess it's time to replay the game.
Audience subversion on a massive scale
Wait, I remember playing this hacking mini-game, but not during the route D. I'm not sure which chapter it is ...
Sigh... I fought her when I was close to level 70 and she dies after 2 hacks...

Another example is the peculiar behavior of 9S's own Operator, who suddenly was treating him like a child at the final operation.
@@Sabaelos there is an Emil fight at Level 99 though in a sidequest.
BROOO I MISSED THIS MUCH ??? i could only kill A2 in 3 hackings for some reason
It must be the level you are on
I'm so bad with theses bullet games that I pretty much just attach normally lol
So...what will happen to her after the ending E, even though her body survived.................she does not have an after story to support that she did not reactivate....but then....now I feel uneasy about what happened to her after ending E..............😞
Wow! I had no idea it was there, i just BOOM hacked her
I only hacked her twice and I killed her, why didn't I have to do all this?
Your level was probably much higher than hers
A2's menu :(
Wow...3d hacking...
bruh i didnt get so far to that, I finished her too fast fuuuuuuu😭
You hack you on menu ui why not drop deadpool inside and let he dance around and broker my system software
Hard difficulty?
The only thing I hated about this game was hacking. The story, the music (I love Nier music!), the combat (nice, definitely not great -- Witcher 3 level) -- I almost platinumed it. I love the game. But hacking... ughh... for the most part it was not so bad, I tolerated it, but when as 9S I was tasked to hack through the second resource tower -- I wanted to kill myself.
I personally never had a big issue with the hacking minigame
Fucking clever
how get this? i dont see this lv hacking or maybe need to go a same lv
Gotta be at a somewhat lower level than A2 and I would assume to not fail at any of them
GOTY 2017
OMG I just know it!
BEST GAME OF ALL TIME, HIDEO KOJIMA IS NOTHING CLOSE TO YOKO TARO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't compare them, instead, imagine them working together.
I'd buy that game in a heartbeat.
Gonna say it probably wouldn't work, since Hideo Kojimas games usually focus on real world problems as underlying themes, while Yoko Taros games focus on philosophical issues as underlying themes (Nier Automata for example is existential crisis)
4digitmen Makes sense. Even then, I would love seeing then working together
Alex Mckim I refuse that
Wtf no tenía idea de eso
>japanese dub
Sounds much better in Japanese imo.
so ez :D
Insane? Rly?
Yes, it's pretty cool
I love the game but 9s made me stopped I can stand all of that hacking. Too many is too much done with the game
