Nowadays it's my pleasure to listen to Kun-Woo Paik's new album of Schumann. Bunte Blätter, Gesänge der Frühe and Abegg variations, including Waldszenen, all of them are magnificent. ❤
I like Kun woo paik's performance,I think It's a great performer who has his own color in a comfortable and fantastic way.I saw the performance myself. I'm looking forward to playing Schumann.
Paik's is a very thoughtful and evocative interpretation. Don't forget Einsame Blumen refers to 'lonely' flowers! Schumann himself also suffered from melancholia like many of his contemporaries.
A quite bland interpretation. Not many pianists seem to have a clue about what to do with this composition. Volodos, Pires and Ashkenazy at least seem to make it work in some way. Still waiting for the aha moment that shows us the potential of this piece. There must be more in it, yet undiscovered.

His life in Seoul must be really tough.
