I never thought I'd see a reaction to Tommy Wright III. I also think I peeped a Screw poster behind you. Dad might like the vibe that came out of the early Houston stuff - ESG, Fat Pat etc.
@25:00 the cowbell was used in alot of Memphis underground music because we used drum machines back then it was in the 909 kits which is the ones TWlll used
Was not expecting this one! You gotta do a DJ Screw review…I see the poster in the back. Point Blank-My Mind Went Blank, you should compare the original to the DJ Screw mix
Holy shit...Tommy Wright III...how in the hell did you guys find out about him? I've lived in 7-8 states over the years, only met maybe 5 people outside or Memphis familiar with him...yall taking me back to high school.
My dude I'm from Croatia and I've listened to him since high school haha. He has a following around the world, I assume people run into him by listening to Three 6 like I did :)
I’m amazed and I’m impressed honestly! I would have never in a million years thought you would do Tommy III this was super raw really really really underground. Before any Memphis music was mainstream. Violent times in the city reflected in the music. Very talented musically but very raw
Kai the fact that you are doing underground legends like this is great. Have you got into bay area music yet? There's alot of gold there I would love to see it. E-40, Too-short, Mac Dre. Maybe even The Jacka(R.I.P) anyways love the reactions!
I second this comment. I been hoping he would cover the bay for some time. I would suggest Too Short- The Ghetto, Gettin It; E-40- 1 luv, rappers ball, Nah Nah; Mac Dre- Rainin Game and Since 84
Bay Area has so many FIRE artists Hugh E M.C., Indo G, Rappin 4-Tay, Suga Free, K-Dee, Mac Mall, Mac Dre, Dru Down, CBo, 415, Ant Banks, I could keep going
Nah your dad pulled some work back in the day. Man was unphased through all the raps on crime. That's that OG right there. He got some stories for real.
they used mostly boss drum machines like the dr 660 to make most of the tapes. murder in the first was most definitely made with a Dr-660 you can just tell by the way it sounds.
@@frontroomdang I missed your reply! But with time you’ll get to tell the difference! I was obsessed with the genre and I used some of the drum machines myself so I have an advantage haha.
Shame this has so low views, goes to show that some artists get passed even with their influence in history music. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t know this artist
@@frontroom what would be really insane is if you reviewed lil Ramsay goin unda cova. I think Tommy wright produced most of it apart from one song that I think was done by 3 6 mafia. It's extremely under rated and is a classic. He mentions mental health like I have not heard ever before that really gives I sight to their lives.
I think your dad would absolutely love Undying Love by Nas. An absolute heartbreaker. It’s has a story aspect to it, spoken in a mix of first and third person. The lyrics are good, and it flows amazingly. It is by far my favorite Nas song and I hope you guys cover it one day!
Man what, tommy wright?? Lmao nice. I think it’d be great to show your dad some freestyles, like Tsu surf on i85, Meek Mill on Flex and king los on LA Leakers
I read that he recorded a lot of these songs in an expensive hotel room that he lived in, very D.I.Y. Also, suffocating a baby with a towel is the most brutal thing I've heard in any rap or metal song, cold hearted
It’s insane who little he’s known and how much of Morden underground and “SoundCloud trap” was inspired off this. Fuck somethings they don’t make it but they often are the best now a days
TOMMY WRIGHT lll, never would have thought you guys would cover him but I’m glad.
Everrr 😂
Mane what I'm so glad tho much respect
DAMN never thought I would expect to see Tommy on this channel, mad props
I’m blown away too
Same here lol
That gotdamn Tommy Wright the III...... He's been getting sampled heavily in the mainstream now...
Even by Beyoncé!
My homeboy gave me the original tape back in the day. He moved back to Memphis and unfortunately was killed.
@@frontroom what track?
@dexterramey8787 Tommy Wright didn't get killed. He's alive and well and he's still touring.
@@snoopruffin7609 i think he meant that his homeboy got killed
Good stuff guys. Much respect to you and Dad both for acknowledging a classic Rapper and classic time.

It certainly doesn't have the over-produced feel of today's music 😂
