Everyone has their day. Roger Miller was a highly talented and creative individual with a great sense of humor that came across in a lot of his songs. I look at the so called talent of today and it doesn't hold a candle to the talent of this era.
@@quantumbuddhist Not saying there isn't some talented people but the music they listen to today is not worth a shit compared to the 60's through the 80's. especially that hip hop crap but that's my opinion and I'm certainly entitled to it just as you are. I guess I should said they are talented but their creativity is lacking; especially in song writing and the actual music and notation. I think Alan Jackson is the exception. He still makes great music.
Talk about a talented singer/songwriter and one who left us WAY TOO SOON is ROGER MILLER! I never get tired of watching his performances as he was always one to make you smile with his songs! His wife sang in the Kenny Rogers and the first Edition band too if I remember correctly.
I believe that was Thelma Camacho who sang with Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, at least in the beginning, she may have been a replacement singer for Thelma later in the bands career.
Glad you enjoyed this video....as we have 2000 more vintage videos posted on our webpage at ImaSportsphile that we think you will find some more "Big Thumbs Up"
Lovin Roger Miller ! FFA class with Green hands comin in while us old hands were chug a luggin old like 16 Roger Miller was and will remain...Forever in my Heart and Soul Thanks for This Great Classic..ol man way down in TX JD
Waylon said Roger Miller has written more number 1 hits than anybody. The problem was he was so messed up on pills he could write em one minute and the someone would say, Roger do that number again.. Roger would say, what number? It's a hard telling what we will never hear because he stayed so high.. got to love them old Nashville boys..
I grew up listening to roger miller,s songs because there were no soul stations around at that time. I had no choice. Thank god for the soul stations, I began to hear: Sam cooke. The temptations, Joe Tex, Wilson Pickett, Marvin gaye, James brown, Jackie Wilson, Otis redding, the tams, and a long list of other soul singers. Roger miller was a great singer and song writer. I bought many of his records.
He was a lot cooler than I remembered, but I was into the Beatles and the Stones, so Roger Miller was sort of middle of the road country and I didn’t think it was hip! but damn! Roger was a stud , here he is with a Tele! His band is killer, too! These guys could PLAY! They make it look easy and it’s not, a lot of skills in that band!
Dan Najera, thanks for your comment....for it is spot-on....as he was truly one of Americas greatest and most prolific songwriters....right up there with Hank Williams and Bob Dylan....as I have many videos of each of these awesome talents already posted in my music section at www.imasportsphile.com
One can't help but notice his need to cough and the sometime rasp in his voice when pushing his diaphragm. So sad that in less than 9 years of this broadcast Roger Miller would leave us in 1992 at age 56 of lung cancer. RIP Roger! Hope you're always remembered.
I borrowed a Roger Miller Lp from a lovely girl I met in Belfast. I loved the song “one dead and a burying” She was sweet but her parents warned her off me as I was Protestant and she was catholic, sad
Allen Medvers sorry but youre insulting great artists like colt walter, sturgill simpson, jp harris and a whole lot more of great artists creating beautiful country music.
@@2Jeezuzisreal well u csn find all the good stuff on deezer, spotify, youtube..who needs radio?! ( personally i like to buy btheir ceedees, atleast that way theyre making some money ) peace!
Man,Wow,I have to say, can't say that I know a place to go to see really honest talent like this. Now I'm only saying this because it's true. The crap they play on the radio sucks! That's my opinion,I really don't ever wake up and turn on my radio like I did in 1969..in fact I don't do a lot of the things I did in 1969! Well I'm just saying that cause somebody has to let people know that the music of today sucks..The industry is in control..like a machine..its man against machines. Think about the really good music that you don't hear on the radio and ask yourself why. Then ask the question in public and see what you hear..probably the same shit you hear on the radio.
Nolan Pierce - I agree. The singers today are commodities. Back then they were personalities. Fans knew what they were like and could relate to them on a personal level and that was true across the musical spectrum. I have no idea what a singer I’m watching today is like as a person because they don’t let that come through anymore. The business has become to much of a prepackaged, homogenized business.
I agree & here's my 2 cents worth. I'm 70 yrs old with 30 yrs active-duty in the Army Special Forces retired, and I loved the old days & now (for 30 yrs) been prepping to defend my Republic & good old days. So much has changed but, NOT my heart ! I say all of this, with a saddened heart & tears in my eyes. Roger, thanks for the memories !
