Re: the RM380 take-down pin falling out. I magnetized the pin and have had no problem at all with the pin falling out since then. To magnetize the pin in your RM380, take a strong bar magnet in one hand and hold the pin firmly and vertically between thumb and index finger of other hand. Place either end of the magnet against the upper end of the pin and run it from the upper end of the pin to the lower end of the pin several (10-15) times. This will magnetize the pin. You can check to see if the pin is magnetized by placing the pin against any part of the slide of the gun and it should stick lightly to it. I repeat this process each time I clean the gun just to be sure it is still magnetized. It just takes a few seconds. I hope this helps. I love my RM380. small, concealable, will eat any ammo I feed it and goes bang every time with very little recoil. Thank you for the tip about re-assembly. I went crazy on more than one occasion trying to get that little #!*%er back together.

I love my RM. I've owned LCPs, P238s, P380s... the RM380 is the best one for me. I can easily hit a paper plate every time at 25 yards with it. From a self defense perspective I shoot it as well as my full size guns. Great gun for light clothing. The Ruger LCP II is awesome too.
Extremely happy with this pistol. Much more ammo friendly compared to my bullet shy LCP. Think of the trigger as a safety. It is long, but not heavy and is crisp. My daily driver.

This is why Ruger came out with the LCP II. IMO, the best trigger of all the .380 guns but I hope They fix this Remington .380. I just love .380 pistols.
This has been my favorite pocket gun, even over my Kimber Micro. Only downside is that the mag release is too easy to depress, the magazine can come out in a soft holster... Not an issue in a rigid kydex holster that covers the mag release.
The candor acknowledging the extreme difficulty in reassembly is much appreciated--very easy these 'hi-tech' days in which we live to edit out all imperfections AKA 'reality.' Channels like Hickok45 are few and far between and I for one do not take them for granted to be sure. Just bought one of these today and it has replaced my Bersa 380 cc as my EDC. Great ergo, well made, performed flawlessly with the first 200 I put through it. What's not to love? As for take down, Hickock must be off his meds, because this is as simple as it gets. Pull the slide back, align the peep hole, the pin drops out, reverse for assembly. Okay, if the gun is dirty, you may need a punch and if you jam the barrel it'll cause you a bit of grief. But, really, align the holes. It's that simple. Hickock, thanks again for a great video!
Thanks for reviewing this pistol. All pistols in this category are a compromise due to the size. I think you overlooked that the pistol is locked breech like the glock 42 which makes it easier to rack the slide and cuts down on the recoil. The DA hammer gives you the opportunity to hit the primer again if it doesn't ignite with the first strike. The chances are good that this pistol will also be chambered in 9mm like the 43. My RM 380 has been reliable and I am very happy with it. I understand that Remington dug themselves a hole and there is plenty of venom out there for them but I think this gun will be one step towards repairing their image. I hope that you review the R51 when it is rereleased soon and give it a fair shake as well.

+Karl Jackson I don't have definitive proof that's what happened, but it's an educated guess. Google+ relies on users to help police content. Looking at the Google+ policies, the only thing they could have gotten him on was violation of the "Regulated Goods and Services" section which covers "weapons" among other things. Per that policy you have to set age restrictions on certain content posted to Google+. Every UA-cam video he posted automatically showed up on his Google+ page. According to his Facebook post he never used Google+ so he wasn't aware. The haters/anti-gunners found this loophole and likely reported his Google+ posts into oblivion. The system itself took action or some lackey gave the greenlight to axe the UA-cam account after very careless review.

There is currently a lot of effort from those folks trying to push these actions through, and we will be seeing more and more mom and pop channels being targeted, as well as some of the group structures. The same thing happens on Craigslist among cheap shot competitors. All they have to do is flag you, and often it's difficult to know why.
Why even bother with UA-cam or Google? I have to believe that Hickock45 has enough followers to support his own independent web sight free from other people's rules and regulations.
Love my ruger lcp. Does what it needs to do, perfectly rounded for conceal carry. Gets the job done at a very decent price. If you haven't seen his review of ruger's 380, I'd take a look at it. Also, I love how hickock isn't a 380 hater, it does what it needs to do! I hate when people just don't get that they're a 'whites of their eyes' type of gun!

Do you have any understanding of this? It is simple to call someone a troll and dismiss everything they say, but it appears you know nothing. The first amendment simply means you won't be punished by the government for saying something.
I live in Florida. And as you know sand is everywhere here. Managed to get a little sand in mine and it still worked without a problem. Also, just a idea....can you put some range markers ( yards or feet) off to the side of your firing range to give us a idea of distance out to your targets. FYI.... LIke your reviews of the guns you test out and your honest feedback without the sugar coating.
Only reason I ever signed up to youtube in the first place is. I bought a Glock 26 and wanted to find information about the handgun. Saw Hickok 45 video on it and have been a fan ever since. If Hickok goes, I will bail as well. Information, not politics Google.

Looked at one of these today, and are now on my short list. that very lockback problem you are describing happened, and it is the breakdown pin that moved and locked/lifted the slide slightly. Seeing that it happened, I'm not certain it's going to make the cut, but it seems to be when "playing" with the slide that causes it- so depending on it in a self defense situation wouldn't be a problem. Thank you for posting your videos.

I got one of these things new for $100. It's worth about ... $100. The trigger is terrible. You can't fire fast at all. The break is all the way to the back of the guard, and if you don't let it go all the way forwards, it won't "catch" and fire again. (See the video.) The trigger pull is 10 pounds! And the trigger itself is very narrow, so it becomes painful on your finger after a few pulls. If you run out of bullets and the slide locks for another magazine, it takes two hands to release the slide, and that's IF you can find the release with the edge of your thumb. You have to hold the gun and pull the slide completely back with your other hand, and then use your thumb or fingernail to release the slide. There is a little tang on the slide that engages in a small hole in the release for some reason. So you have to disengage it to get the release to go down at all. It should stick out a little more and be twice as long. It''s a shame that engineers can have so much technology at their disposal and find some way to make the gun pretty much useless. It is small and light and really safe because of the trigger pull and the flush-to-the-gun-end hammer.Underwood XP .380 bullets are pretty powerful. But you'd better "be done" with one magazine. I think I'm going to see if there's a way to fix the trigger. Then if not, maybe sell it to someone who won't care. :(

I have a first and second generation RM380. Only differences are the pin comes out on the right side on one and the left side on the other. Also the sight are just a tiny bit more defined on one than the other. My wife and I love these little .380s

He didn't realize his Google+ page had the same videos as his UA-cam page. G+ requires you to set an age restriction on videos regarding certain topics, including weapons. Hickock45 didn't realize that and his channel was temporarily closed.

I have this gun just bought it from Buds. They were amazing. Shipped and I picked it up 2 days after ordering. This gun has worked flawlessly with both HP and FMJ. Super super easy to rack. And takedown and assembly is a piece of cake. First try no issues at all none. I love this gun it’s my new EDC
Great video. I had exactly the same issue with a SCCY I bought. Exactly the same to the letter. It turned out that the barrel was lifting up into the frame too far.
He doesn't seem too enamored with this pistol. I have to say, I'd stay away from any Freedom Group products for quite some time. They've demonstrated inability to consistently deliver a reliable product.
You can delete your g+ profile and your account appears to disappear. I killed mine yesterday for other reasons, and my youtube channel is obviously still here. Let's spread the word to rally on this and delete all our g+ accounts.

I think I figured out the issue you had with the slide not going back into battery. I found that when not quickly pulling the slide back the retaining pin does shift just slightly sometimes. Not enough to visually notice, but enough to cause it to not to return to battery or lock up. Pushing the pin in to make sure it's seated fixed the issue. This, at least in my case, was the problem. Hope that helps a bit. Keep'em coming Hickok. Love your channel.
I have one of these, and I had the same challenge of putting the take down pin back in. As someone had shown me, the sure way to put it back in is by pulling the slide all the way back and then returning to align the holes (if you don't want to use a tool). You still need to leave the barrel untouched.

This gun is $119 after rebate right now on buds. That's why I'm here...wanted to see if it was any good. For the price I didn't think so.

According to his Facebook post he never used Google+ so he wasn't aware. The haters/anti-gunners found this loophole and likely reported his Google+ posts into oblivion. The system itself took action or some lackey gave the greenlight to axe the UA-cam account after very careless review.

There is currently a lot of effort from those folks trying to push these actions through, and we will be seeing more and more mom and pop channels being targeted, as well as some of the group structures. The same thing happens on Craigslist among cheap shot competitors. All they have to do is flag you, and often it's difficult to know why.
Why even bother with UA-cam or Google? I have to believe that Hickock45 has enough followers to support his own independent web sight free from other people's rules and regulations.

Love my ruger lcp. Does what it needs to do, perfectly rounded for conceal carry. Gets the job done at a very decent price. If you haven't seen his review of ruger's 380, I'd take a look at it. Also, I love how hickock isn't a 380 hater, it does what it needs to do! I hate when people just don't get that they're a 'whites of their eyes' type of gun!

They can't stand the popularity of the gun. I'm still completely amazed they went after +Hickok45 though. Like that wouldn't be noticed. Maybe they were just testing the waters to see how quick we could mobilize a lynching. Never know.

A private company banned someone from using their services, the person has no legal rights to use said companies services. However, UA-cam is a service owned by someone else. UA-cam can decide what they want on their website, If they don't like guns, it is fully within their power to not allow videos with guns.

I live in Florida. And as you know sand is everywhere here. Managed to get a little sand in mine and it still worked without a problem. Also, just a idea....can you put some range markers ( yards or feet) off to the side of your firing range to give us a idea of distance out to your targets. FYI.... LIke your reviews of the guns you test out and your honest feedback without the sugar coating.
Only reason I ever signed up to youtube in the first place is. I bought a Glock 26 and wanted to find information about the handgun. Saw Hickok 45 video on it and have been a fan ever since. If Hickok goes, I will bail as well. Information, not politics Google.

I can't even go to the store these days without be hassled by those dirty 2 liters.
Looked at one of these today, and are now on my short list. that very lockback problem you are describing happened, and it is the breakdown pin that moved and locked/lifted the slide slightly.
Seeing that it happened, I'm not certain it's going to make the cut, but it seems to be when "playing" with the slide that causes it- so depending on it in a self defense situation wouldn't be a problem.

I got one of these things new for $100. It's worth about ... $100. The trigger is terrible. You can't fire fast at all. The break is all the way to the back of the guard, and if you don't let it go all the way forwards, it won't "catch" and fire again. (See the video.) The trigger pull is 10 pounds! And the trigger itself is very narrow, so it becomes painful on your finger after a few pulls. If you run out of bullets and the slide locks for another magazine, it takes two hands to release the slide, and that's IF you can find the release with the edge of your thumb. You have to hold the gun and pull the slide completely back with your other hand, and then use your thumb or fingernail to release the slide. There is a little tang on the slide that engages in a small hole in the release for some reason. So you have to disengage it to get the release to go down at all. It should stick out a little more and be twice as long.
It''s a shame that engineers can have so much technology at their disposal and find some way to make the gun pretty much useless. It is small and light and really safe because of the trigger pull and the flush-to-the-gun-end hammer.Underwood XP .380 bullets are pretty powerful. But you'd better "be done" with one magazine. I think I'm going to see if there's a way to fix the trigger. Then if not, maybe sell it to someone who won't care. :(

He didn't realize his Google+ page had the same videos as his UA-cam page. G+ requires you to set an age restriction on videos regarding certain topics, including weapons. Hickock45 didn't realize that and his channel was temporarily closed.

Great video. I had exactly the same issue with a SCCY I bought. Exactly the same to the letter. It turned out that the barrel was lifting up into the frame too far.
He doesn't seem too enamored with this pistol. I have to say, I'd stay away from any Freedom Group products for quite some time. They've demonstrated inability to consistently deliver a reliable product.

You can delete your g+ profile and your account appears to disappear. I killed mine yesterday for other reasons, and my youtube channel is obviously still here. Let's spread the word to rally on this and delete all our g+ accounts.

I think I did a g+ help search of "delete account," found myself at a user forum which seemed to advise deleting your profile which is an option down one of g+'s settings trails. Sorry. I think I figured out the issue you had with the slide not going back into battery. I found that when not quickly pulling the slide back the retaining pin does shift just slightly sometimes. Not enough to visually notice, but enough to cause it to not to return to battery or lock up. Pushing the pin in to make sure it's seated fixed the issue. This, at least in my case, was the problem. Hope that helps a bit. Keep'em coming Hickok. Love your channel.

I have one of these, and I had the same challenge of putting the take down pin back in. As someone had shown me, the sure way to put it back in is by pulling the slide all the way back and then returning to align the holes (if you don't want to use a tool). You still need to leave the barrel untouched.
