Hello everyone!! It's Kitti ♡ For this documentary, we will be uncovering some old events, quests, races, and collaborations that you may remember! Welcome to my channel, my name is Kitti Spiderweb and I make documentaries regarding the history of Star Stable Online. I research deep into the archives of the beloved horse game, and even draw from my own 10 years of experience with Star Stable Online.
History and nostalgia is not all that drives my channel, but to also give a critical opinion from a veteran's perspective on how Star Stable may have failed their community.
My videos are to give aid for those who feel frustrated with the modern game, as we are one of the same.

I wish they kept the old star stable as a separate mmo…so sad the vision and ideas of the old team is gone now
or even a separate, fan-made server. obviously it'd be a lot of work but i think it would be really cool to have an SSO private server scene like that of club penguin
I am so curious to see what an Old SSO server/game would look like, I can't help but imagine that the reception would be overwhelmingly positive. @@helIokitti look at videos from back from 2013 - 2014 and ull see how... and why many old players miss it... newer people just dont understand.. and make fun of older players. i remember when huge clubs used to hang out at where the circus is now it used to be a huge field. i miss runing around with people in like a horse herd
Modern Star Stable needs more horse peril, if you will. Like, "let's save Loretta from a landslide!!" "Let's sneak into Dark Core!!" and a small detail I noticed as a child: as you get more experienced in the game, you'd unlock areas like Golden Hills where the bridges have gaps in them that you can jump over. It was small but like, I felt like I was using something I learned for practical use. My child brain felt so big.
I agree! I think even for older players such quest feel more entertaining, or at least to those who prefer more casual or cozy gameplay, refreshing. In a way that is one of the things that made sso (and still makes, just to a lesser degree, but last few quests have this fantasy- action feel to it, even if more so fantasy than action) feel so very special compared to your typical horse game.
OH MY GOSH YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! I can totally see that, Moorland seems so safe and conservative with its environment. Then you unlock Fort Pinta, with the very nerve-wracking and narrow bridge you must cross to get into the city. I remember not too long ago, a detail that was found in the game files such as "horse_die" started a HUUUGE fan theory that spread like wildfire, it seems everyone was really passionate about that storyline!! ♡ Thank you for your comment :3
Back in the days everything was done with love. I miss the old days. I remember becomming a starrider for the first time, everything was so exciting. I loved to just ride through the map and enjoy the environment. Now it doesnt feel special anymore.
Capitalism does not support love long-term unfortunately... It sucks, everything good that wants to earn a living just gets corrupted into money machines.
this is DEFINITELY forgotten because i never see anyone talk about it-- back in the day, there used to be a 'discard' button on the quest log. i believe you'd pick what quest you wanted to discard and press the button! much easier instead of having to log off and on to remove it, like now. i believe this was removed sometime in 2018. i have no idea why they would remove that.
Omg I was just thinking about that the other day cause I wanted to get rid of a glitching quest. My brain keeps thinking the discard is still there 😭

I think I only have one memory of that. I feel like I imagined it, but I guess not. I think I used it to get rid of the quests that got bugged, but that happened like once, ever.
i remember that too. they got rid of it bc players would use it to glitch places i think.
I still miss some holiday, like every holiday now is smacked in one island, that is not even in jorvik. Like, you have the feeling that in jorvik is nothing happening, no ghost hunting (i miss the most), no bunny, nothing here.
This is exactly how I feel!! Christmas especially, if you watch old Star Stable playthroughs of Christmas quests... They get EVERRYYYY npc involved in the story!! And you have to travel all across the map to complete these quests, it really brought the whole Jorvik community together. T_T
As of right now, I think Star Stable MAYYY be heading in a good direction in terms of decorations ... because for the new Halloween event, Star Stable has stepped up their decoration game on the actual island of Jorvik quite a bit... I just hope that we get more story-driven quests on the island for holidays instead of just MERCILESS grind. T_T

I have an image that actually explains WHY the jorvik warmblood looked exactly like it used to. They were trying to go for a cartoony yet immersive game. Sadly, that idea is gone now because of what the new sso team is doing.
I miss the pink screen and the loading part after it. The cat with the saddle, it was cute and I liked it. The loading screen with the picture of a character on her horse in a small circle and the full drop there with the map going around like you were in a plane, immersing was beautiful there.
They really need to bring back that comic style in a somewhat realistic world, it really made sso stand out
Remembering all of these makes me so sad :') miss this era.

the jump thing sums up how i feel about new star stable. it's not immersive and takes out the excitement
BAHH like they could at least have it so once you reach level 5, you get a special quest from Justin in Moorland instead to begin learning how to jump. D: By the way, I just started a new Star Stable account and guess what! Justin still shows up at Steve's, just with no quest T_T My heart BROKE. I remember 9 year old me obsessing over horses, wishing I could have one. Then I searched up top 20 horse games and found this gem. I cannot express the wave of nostalgia I get seeing those stable doors at 2:10. Little me was in a fucking trance lol, it was really magical. So if any old sso devs see this by some random and slight chance, thank you.
Another great detail that is “lost“, is when you turn on the water reflection in the settings, the night sky and the stars don’t reflect on the water anymore:(
I always keep the old water graphic, because it looks so much nicer and magical, especially at night🥰✨ love your documentaries so much

To be fair about the bobcats race, when I was at that point I was about nine years old (that was in 2014, I’ve been playing this game for a looong time, jeez…) and it took me FOREVER to finish it… but I miss those SSO launching gates so much, I wish they’d come back😢

32:24 NO. I CAN'T AGREE XDD , in the polish translation everyone was afraid of that, it sounded really menacing, the best translation I can provide is "The dusk is coming, night is closing in" . So many rumors appeared , but I remember one the most. It went along the lines of' when that message about the night displays another entity is spawned searching for logged players'. So we made sure everyone logs off during the night haha
OH MY GOSH THAT IS SO COOL LOL I wish my server came up with rumors like that!! xD I totally agree though, the message does sound very nerve-wracking and threatening :o That seems to be a common theme with old SSO, so many elements of the game were genuinely scary. Especially the noises your horse would make after a dangerous fall.. Thank you for sharing your awesome stories from Poland!! I love to hear about them :3 ♡

The most fever dreamy thing i experiences back in 2013 (i think?) was the 200sc code that could be used multiple times. It wasn't intended but the community gone WIILLD with it. I believe it was fixed within 24 hours but oh boy..
Some people got a minus amount of Star Coins after that, some reset to 0 and with some accounts nothing happened.
I remember most of the people going wild on a second account. Didn't meet many people who were part of this or experienced this, too.
I absolutely adore your Star Stable Online Documentary series! I've been playing since September 2012 and I really got huuuge nostalgia right there.
I still got the T-Shirt from the "burned Battery" update!
HAHAHA I read about this on Reddit!! You're totally right, some players went into DEBT after that exploit. I've heard that some tried to contact SSO about it, and the team would forgive their debt. :') I'm sure this made SSO waaay more cautious about codes from then on. xD

Honestly I was 9 playing the old sso, and I still vividly remember it to this day. I still play but it’s just not the same. This brought tears to my eyes and nostalgia hit me hard. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood. ♥️
i personally like that they gave non SRs the ability to jump, but like you said, IRL it can take months to years to actually work your way up to jumping. not 40 seconds after you get on a horse for the first time. i wish they have made it more challenging and made us collect the poles like they had done before

And sometime if sth gone wrong, we were given this fun stories.. Like when SSO had problems adding mustangs (EVERYONE was so hyped for them) they said sth about ships that were supposed to deliver mustangs to Jorvik.

i logged on for the first time in a while a month ago and everything’s so different. i honestly enjoyed playing it despite me being older than i was when i originally played. it’s changed so much and it almost hurts lmao but it’s good to see so much progress
the fact that we cannot sit down at tables, towels at the beach and firepits anymore breaks my heart, they even made it impossible to buy the food objects..
ALSO!! I tried washing my horse in my stable and my horse got stuck, I got so scared X( the horse was a g1

kitti your videos bring me such an overwhelming amount of joy i literally cannot describe it
i miss it, i miss star stable. i miss how in the weekend mornings when my sister and i played togheter, back when i was 4 and she was 14, we played all day and she just used to give me attentions, i miss the old logo, the old horses and my old sister's personality, i'd give really anything to live it again, it just wont work now, their making it so beautiful yet soulless.. i loved this game, but now, its not the same. my sister isnt a teen like me anymore and my favorite game disappeard forever, i miss being 5, playing with my teen sis all day.
I miss the old days so much, nostalgia really hits different. I remember the band JA, I was so hyped to dance with my friends at the disco and I listen to this song Caroline till this day! I also remember "the wild horse mode" by deleting the files. Me as a kid I felt so special when I ran around as a wild horse and people asked me how I did that, it was so fun to do together with your friends!😊It is sad to watch the best features and part of SSO getting deleted, "because of new players" (sso team says), my childhood game will be still in my heart even tho it is very different now. I love to watch old videos of players getting into Dino Valley, Epona, Golden Hills, buying horses and just enjoying the time together. It is ridiculous when people fight over opinions that this SSO now is better than before. In some ways it may be, but for older player it will be still "the old times". ❤

29:12 i actually got sent to my home stable today due to my horse health - didn’t even get a dangerous fall before but i got the graphic of my horse being injured. so even though the health bar is gone that feature is still in the game!

I joined in I think late 2017 or whenever the gen 2 starters dropped. I loved the April fools stuff and that one thing where you could change the coat colors cuz I was a broke little 8 year old and I didn’t have any horses lol. I left the game for years and logged back in about a year ago and damn is it so different. I’m thinking of finally purchasing SR after over 7 years but it just doesn’t have the same charm it used to. Loved listening this, brought back some memories and taught me some new things I never knew about the past of the game 😊
I started back in 2014 on a different account then what i have now called kata pinehome and i remember the feeling i got from just discovering the website it felt so friendly and welcoming i was 8 at the time and it just felt so amazing. It felt so great to install the game on the website create your character and just go into star stable through stable doors on the website. I really miss that tbh it took me a really long time to get star rider as my parents didn't let me get it straight away but it didnt matter to me because i just liked riding around it felt so magical for me because i was a child. There is so much i miss about old sso that i wish would come back. My new character on there now is vera sapphirehurricane but if i could i would go back and play old star stable again because the small details that they added into the game back then made a big difference. I wish they would create a separate server were they could have old sso so people that remember it could play it again.

SSO is a game i kinda grew up on. i remember how exited i was when the told that jumping is gonna be free...but tbh it could make more sence if they would just push the free gameplay out to silverglade..but now...as a life time star rider idc anymore but loretta's change is hurts
I play Star Stable like mid 2020 or smth im not sure though😭but i used to watch a lot of youtube videos from star stable creators as a child, and star stable is one of the first games i played on my first laptop back then

I remember when I always tried to pull the exact coat and mane color at the same time so it would match perfect, like the sky coat with rainbows + blue mane and it was frustrating but so fun.. xD

honestly everything is easier now. one thing I also noticed are the way we have to do quests. before we always got an item we had to drag onto the shiny things and then the loading bar would show up with a nice animation. nowadays we get an item but we only have to press e which is so dry and boring. why do they have to take realism away like that to make things go faster ?

I remember this and miss the old sso too.
In my opinion, I was glad when non-SRers could jump. The game was just way too restrictive, and jumping is an important action too. Non-SRers and newbies were legit not able to complete Fort Pinta championship back then because you were forced to jump over a small brick fence.
I mean restrictive makes sense, when you're a non-starrider, you're just getting a preview of the game in a way. They obviously restrict a lot so you'd want to pay for the game. I have been playing without being a starrider for a long time (many years actualy) and i didn't think it was unfair that i can't jump, or that it should be a feature that i could have. I was just thinking about all the things I'll do once I finally buy starrider for myself. After all that time, it just seemed weird to me when they gave the feature to everyone.
@@verumalkova4217 I've been a non-star rider for going on 8 years now, and them giving the jump option was shocking but very welcome to me. It was as if I'd been given the moon. I know the restrictions of being a non-star rider all too well, and somehow it felt/was far worse back then. The restrictions of SSO for non-star riders was absolutely ridiculous, and I would like to know the stats of how many potential players lost interest because of the money that would have to be forked out, and had parents like mine who wouldn't let them - or parents who simply couldn't afford it. That was singlehandedly my biggest grievance with SSO then, and I still look back on it and have a little bit of resentment. I had about a quarter or less of the freedom/opportunity that a non-member had in Animal Jam. It was sick. I was still hopelessly in love with the game and got on everyday... and still love the game today. But, when you think of it, I lost out on a _lot_ just because my parents wouldn't make a monthly payment to a children's game like a streaming service subscription, or fork out $70+ for lifetime... and wouldn't let me, either. Now that I am an adult, I can see why my parents would've been opposed to it. I probably would be too, if I was in the same situation.

I believe the entire current SSO Team need to watch this video and your others and be forced to take a good, hard look at their idea of the game. I understand (but absolutely dislike) the fact that they had to update the graphics but I feel like when they did that or creature Mistfall they just did it with total disregard for the original atmosphere of the game. I honestly get the feeling they’re just bored and out of ideas so they’re looking for things they can change which nobody was ever even bothered by in the past, just to say “here’s an ‘update’, look we’ve done something!” I really hope one day there will be a da made server, like they did with Alicia Online.

out of topic, im surprised it took yrs for her to learn how to jump in riding lessons when in a few months they taught me how to jump where i used to go to (not judging her i didnt know it could take yrs)
There is just a different feeling about new star stable and I’m just not sure why. Sometimes I’ll get a feeling of old star stable and it just makes me feel so happy. Even though the graphics are a lot better now, I don’t really care all that much about graphics. It’s the feeling the game gives you. I find myself wanting to ride the gen 1 horses more than gen 3. I will never forget old star stable and our old starters. I think the game back then was just starting, and they hadn’t gotten as commercialized and were less greedy. Now it just seems like the team doesn’t care. I will forever miss old sso and the joy it brought me ❤😢

I can only think about the Spirit colab and how useless it was, even when I was a kind it got me confused and uninterested in a horse i couldn't tack aka upgrading it's stats lol

although i do miss the old star stable, it was such a big part of my childhood, they desperately needed to update everything looking back on it, star stable was so bad but at the time, this was the best game ever and it was so magical. i understand why things have changed so much, generations were maturing, old players were leaving then one day players who left saw all these amazing updates and that magical feeling finally comes back and its such a great thing while i do thing they took things out for no reason, i dont think it changed the realism of the game, this game was never realistic. i do think Loretta needed a dialogue change, i think it was a little too tryhard-ist for her to a mean girl. im really glad they updated the interface, it just easier for younger players and its a really great for those with disabilities (i personally have trigger finger in most my fingers so it was always hard for me growing up to play due to this issue) the race time cuts i think were a good idea, it makes it easier for me (and other players) to train horses much faster. sso has grown so much, and i do miss the old sso, but it need to be replaced. i do think they should create a 2nd sso game with the old quests and graphics and horses etc.
