Nice video/discussion, I have enjoyed listening to it. 😊 I fully agree that it's okay for a game to be challenging. Actually, if it's not challenging at all, it's probably boring. As you said at one point, SSO should at least consider making things optional instead of simply removing them. You think 98% of players use stable care? Sounds like a gross overestimation to me. I've never used it myself and I know quite a few friends who don't usually use it either. 🙂

They've gotten rid of so many fun things from existing festivals that it just now feels like a chore. I miss the beach festival and midsummer, and I miss that each festival had its own unique currency, and now we just get boring tokens.

This is probably just me but one thing I didn't miss from old SSO was constantly caring for my horse every 5-10 minutes, or however long it was, especially if I was in the middle of quests and didn't want to keep buying food if I wanted to save up for new tack or clothes, though it was a bit more realistic, but I don't miss it that much. I really miss cold-tolerance though, it made certain horses feel special, while I can understand some players might not want any of the available cold-tolerant horses, but now any horse can just be taken to Dino Valley, and to me it makes no sense to have breeds like the Arabian be cold-tolerant. Old SSO also felt more mysterious, dark and creepy, which I loved. I also really miss the old Fjords, they were one of the very few horses that you had to build reputation for, which made them feel more special, and I wish they did this with more horses, and I also wish they had kept the Kallters and put the updated Fjords with them to build rep for. And daily rep quests that took weeks or months to complete, built up excitement for what was to come, whether it was the rewards or more quests, it felt worth the wait.

I think they would be more inclusive if they would left Easter. Because this is how we can celebrate more cultures! I remember that sso used to make country inclusive events so I think it would even bring them more attention if we would get to celebrate for example; Chinese new year celebrations. I think mainly the reason is as they said; it’s just putting too much work for one day, and considering they had to update the stater horse they’d probably would need to update the method, but let’s leave our hopes up that pink bunny may return one day! I think maybe in future we will get those celebrations returned </3 I hope I could’ve played sso whenever those events were available 😭. I really enjoy watching ur sso documentaries, ur voice is so pretty and it seems like ur putting so much work in those videos and reasearch. I hope everyone who read that had a great day.

I still prefer the g1 Friesian horse, to me the Jorvik Friesian was so disappointing. But now we're having another updated Friesian releasing sometime this year I think, and I hope it's a lot better than the Jorvik one...

I've always loved how dino valley seemed so untouched. It makes sense when you think about the lore of it, but it's still very special since there's nowhere else like that in the whole game and I love to wander around the completely deserted forests and mountains. It makes it feel so much more desolate and unexplored without roads and buildings everywhere. You feel like you really are the first Jorvegian to see it in a long time. And coupled with the extreme cold and rough landscape, it almost feels like you're not supposed to be there...

This unlocked so many old memories that I forgot I even had! I miss old star stable so much. Thank you for helping me reminisce and enjoy some nostalgia. The game just doesn't hit the same for me anymore so I love thinking about the good old days

am i crazy or did they get rid of the feature where ur horse would follow a road by itself if you stopped steering and youd have to move off the road purposefully

For me it was the Scarecrow Hill race for the golden apple and Galloper Thompson while does the trail ride I would gallop the trail ride with a level 11+ horse so I wouldn't run into him, he freaked me out the 2 times I ran into him.

Thank you Kitti for this Doc as a lot of new player will never get to do these quests and meeting the Kalters along with there stunning and beloved Gen1 Fjords ( myself included )

I miss the old characters they fit the horses better in my opinion and I have so many memories with her♡

I'm not a player since 2013 like some other commenters, but I do remember how I loved the realism of the horse cold tolerance, especially when I discovered it after buying my NSH (which was my first SC bought horse) Or the fact that the horse would get tired and slow down if you didn't actively press W (which is something I still do when I play because of muscle memory lol) I can understand that it makes the game easier and areas like the valley more accessible but it does take away from the immersion and the challenge the game had, I miss it.

In the game your horse still can take damage and be sent back to the stable if falling off a cliff several times, they never removed it! :)

I honestly miss these times. SSO had so much character back then, these things are only a small portion of what made it so unique. For me, they kind of ruined SSO now. I just wish they would stick to the good old mysteries. I don't have anything against quality updates etc. but with these graphical updates they downgraded the Mystery that made this game so fun to play in the first place.

Despite not being the most "visually pleasing" in a matter of graphics, I truly believe that the old sso was a proof of the actual love that used to be put in the game before it started to feel soulless

if this were a documentary in the cinema, I would pay the full price to see it. Truly a masterpiece, thank u so much xx

Along with what unremittens said, I hate that star stable just became a money, hungry game, and all they seem to care about is new horses. They don’t put any thought into the quest nowadays and I hope more people see this, including the starstable company. In fact, they don’t even spend their money well, they spend it on people to record tick-tock‘s for them to advertise horses on TikTok to get more money. I swear every thing they do is just for money I know they need to make money but they’re starting to seem very desperate and it’s starting to show me myself I started in 2017 and got a little bit of the good but I was little and did not understand quests therefore I don’t remember doing reputations for fjords and I never got to buy one sadly, I think the least I could do is bring the old fjord back since they are under the map, I would die to have one of my stable even if they only put them up for a day people would go nuts and the money with skyrocket with everyone wanting to buy this piece of memory, said that once had I know this is a lot to read, but I think it’s worth it but I do remember the old graphics sounds and the way the horses moved. Yes it was really bad but when I realized I’ve played bad games and good games but I always come back to the worst games because once you get everything you’re looking for in a game it’s boring

I think the night message is from Barbie Horse Adventures, that gave is very similar to OG sso. The night message would flash then you’d be teleported home.

as a new player, many of these features are still in the game - maybe slightly altered, but still there. i stand by the statement that star stable is lowkey a horror game, especially the main storyline (the saving anne questline was horrifying, it freaked me out so much), and i'm saying that as a 24yr old 😭 honestly idk why they call it a kids' game, some of the quests are surprisingly hard to complete, too

The events they have now are so boring! I didn't even bother logging on Christmas of 2023 its repetitive and boring! There has not been an single event that had me like wow in a really long time.

One of the things I miss most is the old trailering system when they were separated by counties and could only go to corresponding colours. It made sense that a trailering service wouldn't take you clear across the map, and it also made you utilize the ferry system to go between counties. Now any trailer can go to any location, which yes is more convenient but it's less fun. Nowadays I purposefully don't trailer at all or practice the old county limits; it forces me to run, explore, and appreciate the map again. A lot of players started to complain about the map feeling small, and I think that was larely due to the trailering system change.

i wish they would release an old version of the game that was completely in character for the time. or if fans were to make an old version but with the same graphics and quest lines. I joined in 2016/15 and i feel like i missed so much just because I was younger and had restrictions, and these will be moments that i will never experience but always mourn for. i remember i really wanted to do the halloween pac-man castle quest and couldn't and i logged on every year and it pains me because i will never experience that. i hate how americanized the game is now as well, because it used to have more celtic/slavic themes that have been replaced by mfing starshine ranch. the game used to be mysterious, mythological, and exciting (but sometimes scary), and star stable is erasing its charm.

I saw that Juuso in this game yesterday when I was playing with another user :( of course there is no mission.. I miss you so much this! I myself remember when I was finally able to jump, I think it was in 2015...🤔😭

In The Equestrian Festival at Moorland, go talk to the rangers, they talked about Ashland. I think they'll eventually remake Ashland again because Garnok Fury is important to the story line.
