- Did you know that Don Bosco met Saint Philip Neri? The two saints had a conversation as they were walking through the hills just outside of Rome, which inspired Don Bosco to follow his mission to educate boys and start his famous Oratory. However, if St. Philip Neri died in 1595, how in the world did Don Bosco encounter him as a young man of 18, more than 200 years later in 1841? It was through a heavenly vision sent from God. We will learn all about this pivotal moment in Don Bosco's life, but I would first like to give you some background on Saint Philip Neri and show you why he was such an amazing saint.

Thank you for the great work! My wife and I were married on St Philip Neri’s feast day. We consider him our patron saint. I spent a few days at Casa Margherita in Turnin in 2022. St John Bosco is a great saint!
Hi Micharl, HI Tia! I was just thinking of you both as I watched this video, and then saw your comment! ❤

Great advice from Philiip Neri. Worth pondering and following throughout for young, adult and old alike.
1. Flee from bad company
2. Do not pamper the body with dainty food
3. Escape idleness
4. Offer frequent prayers
5. Go often to sacraments, especially confession
Ave Maria!!!

I so love St. Philip Neri, thank you for sharing this. I don't know what mission I have for our parish but hearing the last part of this video gives my heart to find confidence in God and Our Lady. Keep 'em coming Matthew! Have you discovered in your research if Don Bosco could speak different languages? Thanks!
He knew Latin back to front and definitely knew French, but I'm not sure about any others yet.
@@donboscostories all the basics!
I just learned that he also knew enough German to hear Confessions in that language.
@@donboscostories Wonderful! I imagine too he may have had the gift of tongues.
Is stipens like tithing ?
Please don't say:"How in the world."as it sound like a blasphemy. Thanks.
Either it is, or it isn't. "Sounds like" is extremely subjective. And the phrase is most decidedly not blasphemous in any way, shape, or form. Stick to facts and real problems. The world is full of real blasphemies, so it would be best to go and fight those.
How in the world could you accuse someone of blasphemy over an innocent expression of human language?
As an english learner I woud call it
" sanctimonious " such accusation😅
Thanks!
