  • Asian Hornet traps are very in the news at the moment. This video talks about the JABEPRODE Traps but also features the standard non selective traps made by Veto-pharma. In this video i demonstrate how you will need to put these together .

    My Jaberprode traps (from Pencrane 29800) came at the end of September 2023 and had the cutouts already done, nice and easy to put together.

    Hi Richard, how would you dispose of a box full of live hornets ?

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  10 місяців тому

      You don’t, you just leave them die

    I found using api pharma i didnt get bi catch. The sheer volume of wasps just kept everything else away. The other insects new better i guess!

    Imagine IKEA would sell you a built kit like that.😂 Left all the work for you. Great idea though. Would a diy cone with a Nicot queen excluder also work or is the transparent material crucial?

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  10 місяців тому

      Interestingly the cone is available separately so you can make similar if you have the correct materials. There is other models around thst are also good. However this does work well.

      @@richardnoel3141 in the uk as far as I am aware, you can’t get the whole kit. I have the kit but not the boxes. Paperwork that comes with it has details to order the boxes but if you try to order you need an import/export number before you can complete the order, so a business may be able to order them but an individual can’t. I have found similar boxes from rapid racking, but they don’t deliver to the Isle of Wight so I have had them sent to a friend on the mainland, he is coming over end of November with the boxes. Hopefully they will work, your video will be a great help.

    I love the design, it can trap a LOT more hornets, but it doesnt seem like they can drown in the bait, do you simply splash soapy water in when its time to clean the traps?

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi, you can freeze the top section of simply
      Leave them to die. Best not to soapy water them because otherwise there’s none left to attract more in

    • @barryduke8329
      @barryduke8329 8 місяців тому +1

      In the paperwork that comes with it, it suggests that as there is no food available, the hornets will starve in a couple of days

    Why didn't they make this easier to assemble, why should the customer have to use a grinder to mount this, couldn't it just be snap off, or already cut?

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  10 місяців тому

      I agrée but it’s all time. It would be “ideal”to make a pre made injection moulding with those parts already cut out but that costs literally thousands to produce. The purpose of the video is to demonstrate the time it al takes. But I agree with you. 🤷🏼‍♂️
