I have had 2 shoulder surgeries that required me to be immobile for 12 weeks each. The first time I used the standard sling they sent me home from the hospital with, it was meh; uncomfortable, not supportive at night, did not really work for immobility and allowed me to reach farther than I should and I re-tore my RTC automatically reaching out trying to catch something that fell. The 2nd time , I had the DonJoy shoulder cradle and it was so much better! I could take it off and put it on by myself. Sleeping in it was amazing and comfortable, and it did a better job with preventing unexpected movement. I loved it and recommended it to my ortho surgeon.
They put it on me after the surgery, they put two large a 4 x 4 bandages on first then the cradle, it was extremely painful, and the surgeon only required it to be worn one day. In postop they trying to put ice packs on my shoulder but they couldn’t get through the cradle or the bandages, very very frustrating and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this product, my orthopedic surgeons office made me sign for it three weeks in advance. I still do not know if it is covered by my insurance. No one told me the price. Would not recommend ever Very Very painful and you need someone to help you, impossible to put on alone

Can't use arm once surgery done. Do this with one hand only ... Don't think so.
