- The temperatures have shot up and there is no rain in sight. Bengaluru continues to grapple with a water shortage it has not seen in years.
In the last video, we took a deep dive into the scarcity issue and the causes. In this video, we are going to show you the measures citizens are taking to mitigate this crisis.
The Hindu reports on what is being done in popular public spaces to conserve water, such as the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, and the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre.
To minimise the wastage of drinking water, many eateries have started serving water in smaller glasses. They have also reduced the usage of cutlery and started using disposable cutlery. We visit the popular Vidyarthi Bhavan and Uru Brewpark on the measures they are taking.
In most apartments, aerators have been installed for taps and treated water is being used for non-drinking and bathing purposes. They have also adopted water rationing and also called off all mass events.
We also visit the home of water conservationist S. Vishwanath, where every drop of water, from rainwater to greywater is utilised.

Build more Flats and offices over lakes and fields. that'll solve everything
😂yeah
Concrete jungles everywhere,Cementing the ground , interlocking flooring , no rain water harvesting or water seepage . Misuse of water , overpopulation .
This is a lesson for the whole country to avoid water wastage..
Its heartening to see how the local populace is finding creative ways to save water. Water scarcity in growing meteopolis like Bengaluru is a reality. Its likely to happen more frequently due to climate crisis the world is facing. Long term solution would be to de-populate Bengaluru by maybe shifting the capital to a smaller city.
Yes tier 2 and tier 3 must get new investment so that the population can be less congested and the problem gets resolved

We use eco friendly home care solutions since last 6 years. We use the washing machine water to the garden. We have started using the utensil wash water also to the garden. RO water is used for flush tank or for mopping. Mopped water is used for the garden again. We have used aerators to save fresh water wastage. Last but not least encourage others as well to multiply the effect.
Each home should have one rain water harvesting system to boost ground water recharge
Just this week I have done rain water re charge it costed me.
Finally people learnt that cauvery is not the reason but the poor planning of our metros, over population, encroachment, no rain water harvesting is the main reason for this crisis.
Freebies le lo
Freebies aur water scarcity kaise related hai? 🤔
@@naimalum Free wale bhikhari ko samaj nahi aayega
Me & my wife have decided not to have any children 5 years ago as we know that overpopulation is the reason for water crisis. This is just the beginning, drought is inevitable. We are over populated by at least five times.
To conserve water me and my wife have become vegetarians , we lead a minimalistic life & we eat only once a day. Even though I belong to upper middle class , Do you know that 70% of the freshwater goes for agriculture . We have lost 88% of our underground water post independence.
We called people like you insane
I mean who’s going to stop, having kids for water conservation 😂
I suggest you to get Presidential approval for your self killing, so we can have less population.
This way we will be having additional water for 2 normal people in India.
good initiative
Sach bolne me sharm aati hai , lekin koi baat nahi no 6
Save Lakes
Washing clothes have been less frequent. Opening showers is restricted to 3 minutes per day.
We use washing machine water for plants. RO waste waste water for cleaning utensils and the water from utensils cleaning again to plants. In bathroom all the soap water from washing cloths are used for flushing after urination. I use 7 small mugs( smallest one) of water to bathe. All hand washes , where soap is not used, are into a bucket and this water too goes to plants.
From the the washing machine which drains water i keep buckets to fill . I use it for clean purposes. And like mopping wash room mat washing but in limit . Iam doing it even when had sufficient water .
Feeling blessed living in less devloped towns. !
This may start anywhere anyday. brother. Please start rain-water hervesting. I'm planning to it urgently in my home.

Crores of liters water is wasted during rainy season, all this rain water goes to drains, all rain water should be used, stored, rain water should not be wasted
If only people could adapt these practices in their daily lives, we wouldn't have to dig our wells when thirsty! (pun intended)
Bring UCC (Universal Civil Code) to get rid from these crisis
