When I was a student in Bangalore, I had very little to none spare money. Now when I have money, I have got pre-diabetes. More than the food, people were exceptionally warm and civilized. A lovely place. There is a bit of Bangalore in my heart. Always. Let it be there undisturbed like a precious pearl.
The restaurant was founded in 1950 by an enterprising couple, Shri Parama Shivananda Mudaliar and his wife Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi. They named the restaurant "Airlines Hotel" to honor their son, Mr. S. Thambi Mudaliar, who was a pilot in the aviation industry. The name "Airlines" was chosen to signify their pride and respect for their son's profession and achievements
Irrespective of the legacy, this place is the most unhygienic place I've ever been to. The man making dosa literally has an ounce of butter stuck in his nails. It was so disgusting, that despite paying for the food, we didn't eat it.
Its Bengaluru. The best Idli is from Raghavendra Stores and the best dose is MTR. The airline's name came because in the 19s they planned to set up an airport near the hotel which didn't happen. hence from there, the name came.
Loved this episode. Karnataka bhel house has lots of old memories. Meghana and magnolia bakery are my son’s favourite places. And airlines restaurant is classic. Actually masala poori is a cult chat in Bangalore. It’s always a must try.
Loved this video .. your expressions.. food joint discoveries..the way you shoot .. everything was so excellent.. will save this video if I anytime happen to visit Bangalore ❤
Being a Bangalorean, I loved watching this video! Do visit Taaza thindi, Nagarjuna for their veg thali and biryani, Vidyarthi Bhavan and Amma's Pastries! and of course Filter coffee too :P
When I first tasted sambar in bengaluru initially I did not liked it much but taste grew on to me slowly. Best combination is sambar vada. I like sambar to be on mild sweet and spice.
Pooja mam ur so versatile...😍 2 to 3 weeks ago, saw the italian cuisine, got really amazed of that food culture n obviously the places there...and now our bngl's famous dishes... What to say, you are just amazing mam...❤🤗👏
You’re absolutely right about everything you said regarding the food; it’s clear you’ve put a lot of effort into understanding it. However, I wanted to clarify that the menu in Rameshwaram isn't actually inspired by the local cuisine. The items served there are typical Bengaluru dishes. The name pays tribute to Mr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, as Rameshwaram is his birthplace, as said by the founders themselves. :)
The way you present, the camera work everything is soooo good. Matlab aise nhi lagta ki bass dikhane ke liye aaye hain. That's why you are my favourite food vlogger..
Thanks for coming to Bangalore....you chose the right place for biryani...Meghana is always the best and most famous for Biryani you can also try the chicken roast which is too good....❤❤❤
Correction.... With all due respect... Please check the facts... The name Rameshwaram is dedicated to Sir APJ Abdul Kalam is from Rameshwaram, so the eatery was named after the place.... None of the food items are inspired by the place Rameshwaram , it's authentic Karnataka taste...
As someone living in Texas I can tell you the "Tres Leches Cake" is founded from Mexico. We have it a lot! It's a very lightly sweet milk cake just like you have shown. It's delicious.
The food in Rameshwaram café is not inspired from the place Rameshwaram. It’s South Indian cuisine. The founders are a fan of Dr.Abdul Kalam who was from Rameshwaram. Hence, the name
Whenever i see and hear about dosas i get strong memories. Before and all I used to hog icecreams in the rainy seasons, sometimes i used to get bad cough and chest congestion. Then it used to be time for me to visit the doctor. The code word in South India for getting injections and beatings is called masala dosas. She would 100% gimme one or more painful injections on my bums. After getting i used to visit my aunt's place where she used to see me rubbing my bums and tease me that the doc gave me masala dosa on one bum and special rava masala dosa on the other bum. she used to ask me if i want to eat more icecreams in rains again.
Brekfast at Umesh Refreshments Lunch at Basaveshwar Khanavali DBC at Polar Bear One of the best Momos near Kalpavruksha veg restaurant BTM Few of my favourite in bangalore
Try Bangalore's donne Biryani you will love it. Rameshwaram cafe is little hyped n expensive. You get much better dosa and idlies from local hotels or road side foods on bangalore mysore highways
Bangalore is famous for South Indian- Idli Wada..Dosa..and Biryanis specially- Donne.. Guntur.. Others specially Rameshwaram... Asha Tiffins for South Indian.. Meghna and RNR for biryanis.... Nagarjuna and Nandhana palace for Andhra Meals..But Mumbai beats blr in all other food items..
Loved the video 😍. You explained everything so beautifully 💕. Definitely going to try these restaurants in coming days 👍. Eagerly waiting for the remaining parts of Bangalore Series ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Fantastic video. Watching your videos is not good for my weight because it always makes me hungry 😂😂😂 Yeh video dekhne baad lagta he ki abhi hi Banglore chali jau and yeh sab tasty food try kru especially Biriyani and Dosa. Hi Pooja, lovely video Yes the puranpoli brand is same Bhaskar’s Holige is a Bangalore franchise and they have started in Mumbai as Puranpoli House with outlets at Thane and Kandivali They also came on Shark Tank
Hey pooja hii... As you are in Bengaluru I would strongly recommend you to try dessert from Kanti sweets in Whitefield and also Hallimane restaurant food in Malleshwaram... You will surely like it😊
Lovely vlog ❤ Do try The Filter coffee restaurant in HRBR for ghee roast and Rava dosa and filter coffee and Nagarjuna for biriyani both are must try. Have fun!
Ghee Podi Idli and Masala Puri Chat is next on my mind when I visit Bangalore. Yummy video full of crunchy remarks and delicious expressions by the Golgappa Girl! By the way where did you have the best golgappe?
Hi pooja ghee poddy idli masala is known as gun powder in our mumbai style loved the sparkle in your eyes while having cow cow bhat, air lines hotels named because that area was having old air force located there enjoy your lovely food in bangluru awaiting for next blog ❤
Meghana is the only one worth trying. There are way better and cheaper options for Dose in Bangalore. Do try Malleshwaram Dose Corner. And Mulabiglu Dose Corner CT Square. And for Biryani you can try Malgudis Donne Biryani
Hey Di...just a suggestion when you eat a DOSA next time have a bite right from the centre as it will give you the right taste of butter, the masala and the potato filling... Do try and let me know!!
Nice video Pooja. Loved the food & Places shown in this video. Love ur south side food tour. Hope more food tour is coming from Bangalore. Thanks for this video Pooja.
Nice 👍. Please make at least 8- 10 parts of the banglore food crawl. I would like to see categorised parts (from traditional, fusion , modern etc ) means for eg 5 best of places of Cafes at bnglore, 5 best places to try biryani like this , some kind of theme based videos Thanks
Loved this video. Btw the Airlines dosa you had doesn't have pudi in it. It is red chutney masala. In fact most Bangaloreans like dosa with masala chutney inside and not pudi. 😁
Airlines Hotel got its name due to its association with the Airline Industry. It is not too far from HAL Airport (old Airport). Used to be one of our favourite places when I was a student in St Joseph's College in 1982!
Please try TFC( Thunder fried chicken) shawarma and grilled chicken. This is at Jeevan Bima nagar near Indra nagar. I miss that place since i moved back to delhi
Madam, Sweet sambar is of region udupi/Mangalore part of karnataka. Most of the restaurants even in bangalore are run by these people so taste it little on sweeter side. You should go to pakka local places where you will find mudhe, idli sambar etc. and you will find local bangalore food
Hotel Airlines in Bangalore is called so because Indian Airlines booking reservation office was in the same place, later on Indian airlines office moved to Water supply building (cauvery bhavan) kemoegowda road. Next to Hotel Airlines office was the Jawa bike showroom,
7:23 I have heard that in Germany there are many such restaurants. Open air, under the shade of trees. I wonder whether or not the birds occupy those trees.
I order the boneless chicken biryani and there were few chicken piece but also was shocked to see that they added corn flour pakodi I the same chicken masala which people should think is chicken.. not fair on such a big restaurant... so I would recommend guys always order a bone chicken biryani only..
as a Banglorean myself I feel that u have gone to wonderful places. hope to see u in Bengaluru more often
Upma
Need some corrections. Learn to spell Bengaluru, and say pudi instead of podi. Pudi literally means powder. Podi is not a Kannada word.
just meet a health and food inspector,,,you will suicide!!!
