- Tool girl Sam just can't keep away so when a customer's car came in for a couple of new rear tyres it gave a perfect opportunity to show her how the tyre fitting machine works....

Much easier than the old fashioned way of doing it. :-)
Got to remember to protect those Tire Pressure sensors if so equipped.
I remember using the three tire levers and a slide hammer bead breaker. Not a huge job unless you are doing one from say a Road Train.
Tire pressure sensors are very expensive...you only destroy one and pay for it ONCE.
Never before has changing a tyre been so good to watch ....Awsome video Andy, if you ever come back to blighty I hope you don't forget to bring Tool girl Sam back with you!

It was good to watch this tutorial on tyre fitting. I like all your videos but in this one I would have liked it if you touched up on the importance of wheel balancing and why you should always get one done every time you change a tyre.

As a tire tech myself, I personally recommend it any time the wheel is removed from the vehicle (while at a shop anyway, not everyone can afford a tire balancer). It's like changing a timing belt, may as well change the water pump while you're down there.

Please always wear a protective gloves when working with strangers specially when lubing.

At least she's wearing sensible shoes. I would also tie her hair back so it doesn't get caught in rotating equipment. (plus it would keep her from pushing it out of her eyes constantly)
you need to work on your health and safety
+J B Nz Hi JB Nz, this video is done like a movie. Health & Safety is not an issue here, just like in the movies. We don't see Mr Cage putting on eye protection before shooting somebody!
If Sam were to wear all the recommended PPE then one of the aims of the video would not be met.
If you would like more information on Health & Safety you can Google WorkSafe New Zealand or in this case, contact any of the tyre fitting machine manufacturers who will happily provide you an SOP for their equipment.

Andy Mechanic fair enuf... just the vids of yours I've watched you don't wear eye protection or ear muffs standard Ppe here in Nz. Also as a teacher you should be setting an example.. All in all it's your ears, your eyes but again you're stated you are doing paid work so rules is rules mate
