I had the same fuzzy feeling, but I saw Dad using 1 hand to push the think up. He has had a heart attack and wonder if having all the old people pushing that thing up is a good thing. Heidi has a brother, too, that ought to be helping.

I would afix the legs to the ground and put plywood on top and set up a ground blind on the platform. Use a ladder to get up and down and when deer season is over you can box in the top.

I'm impressed with your drive and commitment to better your deer hunting. I'm an avid hunter myself, I hunt Nc and VA. But dang sweetie you really should have all of your deer stand/blind work done and completed at least 3 or 4 weeks before season starts or even earlier, to give the deer time to get use to it being there... But still good job and good ideas so far on your deer hunting improvements.

Well great job on getting the stand up. Your Mom is a UA-cam Star now she is so funny. I was thinking maybe a piece of 3/4 inch plywood on top the stand that way you can have a steady place to sit or lay down while that Buck comes into your sights. This would also help if you have a blind that you can sit inside of to keep the weather off of you while hunting. Your family is very sweet and loving I pray you get yourself a nice big Buck this year.

If you can't get it completed before deer season, hunt away from it and complete it after deer season.
Rome wasn't built in a day. The deer will be okay with it next season. And that gives you time to make the surrounding area "more juicy" for the deer. I'm a combat vet. You need to always have a rally area. Fall back, regroup and press on!

When driving lag bolts, you should predrill the holes with drill bit smaller than the lag bolts. If the labs are 3/8 ", predrill with a 1/4" drill to slightly less than the length of the lag. This makes during the labs easier. It is as strong as just driving them.

When I read you were surprised it went up I thought you were talking about me! Now I have to add everybody's going to be telling you how do you should have done it. But you should have put the platform on end and slid the legs in horizontally plus you're going to need cross members to keep them from splaying and splitting the wood and dropping you 10 ft to the ground! A comedy of errors. You needed a tall pole between the truck and the platform do a little Archimedes thing, run the rope over the top of the pole and that will raise it above the level of the platform see? To pull it up it'll be lifting it instead of dragging it get my drift?

All she had to do was put the rope on the back side down low and go over the top and put it up with the truck or her side by side.i did it before with my ATV.even had a porta john already mounted to the booster..

@Gary Wilkinson I don't think just putting on two legs opposite corners would work because Dad have a hard time stabilizing it and somebody could get hurt I've done a blind 13 ft with an Old Port of John on it I'm going to stand out of a porta John I'm pulling up with my four wheeler. I had to register at the back axles to a tree but the witch on the four wheeler pulled it right up I'm about to do what she did on my property but I'm not going to go up so high the first time I do have a stand it's up 28 ft it's a tree stand 12 years old and I want to make a box blind that she did but I think I want to try to dig holes in concrete them but I'm on a mountain in West Virginia and it's Rocky

@Gary Wilkinson I have to disagree with taking two legs off.thd legs aren't really where the weight is it's the platform.i did one last year on my property with a winch on my four wheeler I just hit the button.
I'm 51 I'm used to hunting outta treestand do I'm starting to build blinds now..
