LOG

"Starlight my guide, through darkest smoke; until on the other side, my eyes awoke."
That's part of an old poem about this zone of space, fitting for my guide through the abyss that is this dark nebula.
It's a tiny star, but ever so bright. Still, amongst the cloudy matter that blankets this region it only cuts through a few thousand kilometers before being completely muffled.
And yet, this is the safest path to get where I need to go. To try to find my own way through would be the greatest folly. The predictable path of orbit that this star takes around a massive black hole allows it to show the way for weary voyagers such as myself, and though it takes much time with how slow it goes, it is a great comfort that I know it is safe if I only follow its radiant path.
On the other side I know I will be greeted by a spectacular array of stars, bathed in their multicolor light, as if celebrating the safe passage through. For now though, in this cloak of darkness, I only follow the single guiding light of the leader star.
