The bedroom makeover--especially the built-in dresser was inspired and transforming that awkward space underneath into storage was brilliant and exceptionally handy too. I think sticking with the black and natural wood for cabinets in the kitchen would follow the color scheme you have incorporated throughout the entire house. I'd probably go heavier on the "wood" details just to make it feel warm and "homey" (e.g., butcher block island with underneath storage and "hooks on some of the sides to hold dishtowels, miscellaneous kitchen tools?) Can't wait to see next week's installment!

What a great makeover! The addition of the dresser and shoe storage under the stairs is perfect! Can't wait to see what you do with the kitchen too. What color to paint the cabinets? Hmmm, if you continue the same wall color into the kitchen maybe the cabinets would look nice two shades darker than the walls? I suppose you could use the same black on the cabinets but it might be too dark for such a small space? I'm sure whatever you do will be fabulous!

I love the way you simplify things, it makes everything so much nicer. I would say go for black cabinets in the kitchen, but I’m wondering (since I have a kitchen with no windows right now) if that would make it seem too dark. LOVE the built in wall!!! I hesitate to say that I would love blue in the kitchen because blue can actually be an appetite suppressant, but cornflower blue cabinets would look so pretty and honestly, I think it goes good with the all of the black too. I neglected to add that our cabinet faces were left a wood tone to keep it from feeling heavy & datk. But the doors are black w/copper pulls.

Well done! These kids are so fortunate to have your skills and devotion working on their behalf. Although an attractive and efficient living environment is often considered by some to be a plushy option, everyone's soul can be a bit more settled when there is a clean and comfortable place where it can retreat for restoration. SO GOOD! Anyone who has remade awkward spaces has to give you many accolades for what you did here! The transformation of the cubby was outstanding work. I love the way you simplify things, it makes everything so much nicer. I would say go for black cabinets in the kitchen, but I’m wondering (since I have a kitchen with no windows right now) if that would make it seem too dark. I might try the stain or perhaps a white or gray-ish white to match your accessories. So enjoy your videos!

What a transformtion! The built- in dresser came out amazing and you maximized the storage space with that very creative shoe rack. Well done! if the kitchen is dark and small, you might want to do the uppers a warm white and have open shelves and the bottoms black to tie in with the rest.

This transformation is nothing short of a miracle. When I saw the room before, I thought, "Oh boy, what in the world is she going to be able to do to that?" I am in awe at your talents. I think it would be fun to paint the cabinets that pale blue with a vintage looking kitchen and bringing in the black to tie it all in. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

LOVE the built in wall!!! I hesitate to say that I would love blue in the kitchen because blue can actually be an appetite suppressant, but cornflower blue cabinets would look so pretty and honestly, I think it goes good with the all of the black too. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see the grand reveal. You've done such a beautiful job with the whole house so far!!

Just stunning how you were able to transform that dark and dingy space. Boys your mother clearly loves you very much, please take her out for a special evening! I think a nice light grey on the cabinets would be nice. Black will show fingerprints, etc.
Wow! What you did to the pass through and the cubby area are genius. The color and door handles of the built in really made it look like an intentional wall design, and the use of the space below is such a great use of space. That grasscloth really changed the feel of the empty holes into beautiful niches. Your creativity is amazing!
