"If you've had truck stop food..." The trucker in me laughs and then recoils from a suppressed memory. This may be a ship I get. I like my Hull A. It's a tight, clean little package that does what it's supposed to do well and is very cheap to run. I have lots of other options but I think there will be a niche for this little guy when it comes to doing simple and quick resupply runs between stations or cap ships down to settlements or other operational areas. The design bodes will for the other models - I can't wait until I can finally take my Hull E out !

Freelancer will get a second major overhaul to reach gold standard.. the facilities and component spaces arent able to fit the standards (fridge for the kitchenette and all the ship component areas are far too small currently) not to mention it doesnt have suit locker or weapon lockers and no room to put them (except if they remove the middle cargo area and adapt that to suit those requirements) but more likely i think they will do a huge rethink.. keeping the shape mostly intact but doing a lot to the internals and maybe even increasing the whole ship very slightly in size to make room for the gold standard setup

I don't think i'll be using a Hull series any time soon though. The little cargo gameplay I do is only for the selling of refined ore.. and with that i prefer to keep my cargo inside my ship.. like a Hercules C2 or Caterpillar.
That said I do look forward to seeing the larger Hulls come into the game and what gameplay they bring with them. I'm sure we'll see convoys going along established tradelanes, with eager pirates lying in wait.

Wow, that interior is really crisp - looks fantastic! Lots of nice subtle detailing on the outer hull, too.
I also love the finish of the bunk enclosure - I want to see this living area fitout in the MISC Expanse and the bunk fitout and lights control retrofitted to the Prospector.
Thanks for yet another well produced video from the practised eye of an architect - really enjoy your videos and narration :)
PS - As a 'deluxe tier starter ship' (in with the likes of the Titan, 'lancer and Nomad) - sure, the dedicated space-truckers will be happy and will benefit from faster cargo turnaround when cargo refactor is feature complete in the PU, or close to. But, boy they've got some hard graft in front of them to earn the "space cheds" to expand their fleet!
    - As a 'starter' ship though, it will significantly (if not, severely) limit your initial options, which is perhaps not ideal for a starter ship. Even box-missions may not be an option, unless your character can 'place' the mission cargo boxes manually on to the external cargo racks. Clearly, "illegal monitors" and ship-to-ship bounty missions are also 'off the table' with this ship (which won't bother dedicated space-truckers, mind!).
    - Again: With current trade routes, profits with 64SCU are rather on the small side, so it will take quite some time if just cargo-hauling to be able to purchase even a Mustang Alpha in-game with UEC.

Great video, this was a really good presentation of the ship.
As a fan of MISC and a former EVE hauler, I'm looking forward to seeing the bigger ships of the Hull series and the cargo refactor.
With that, I hope there will be actual entry level cargo gameplay that makes the smaller haulers viable.
Either by adding low volume/high value and high risk or time sensitive commodities or missions that scale up well.
As far as I can tell, most cargo pilots at the moment try to go for the C2 as fast as possible because most smaller ships don't offer a relevant profit.

    • @Tanax13
      @Tanax13 2 роки тому +1

Twice the capacity won't help if you need twice the loading time to load it up after cargo refactor. You'll also be exposed on the planet surface for longer with the risk of being pirated. Cargo refactor will dictate which one of the haulers I'd lean into more. Right now I have the M2, Cat, Taurus and RAFT. Cat will likely stay in because of modularity. M2 will be a mainstay as well as a vehicle hauler. The Taurus and RAFT are on the chopping block though. Cargo shielding and how quickly I can load and unload will determine which one I'll keep as a hauler.

For me this is how I would like to see all misc ships turn out. Add the slight console curvature and window placements to the twin seats of the Starfarer and Freelancer and it’s going to make the misc range so sweet. This gives me more hope for the Endeavor and Odyssey as capitals as the Starfarer was already my favorite bridge design for large seats. Really not keen on the three hanging seat designs of RSI and Anvil, or the Drake one in front of the other.
As a ship I’ll probably pick the Hull B rather than the A up but already have a Hull C. If I could start again I’d probably start the game out with only Hull B (possibly A) and a Prospector. Really this would be all i need.

I'd get rid of this long empty corridor that just holds components. I'd move them into living quarters' floor as a homage to European-style trucks that house engine and transmission right under cabin. The whole ship feels disproportionally long for the amount of cargo it holds IMO. I do love updated MISC internal design though, it doesn't feel like a morgue dissection room anymore, yet there is still trademarked alien weirdness to it (i.e. food dispenser, lack of seating despite the size of the room, absence of the sink and the stovetop).

I think the viability of the hull series is defined by the impediment other haulers without exterior cargo will suffer from the cargo refactoring. If loading takes ages in internally storing haulers it will be great. If it is only a 2 min inconvenience the Hull series is too specialized and relies on escort in unlawful systems. So my guess is that the cargo refactoring will be brutal to internally storing ships ^^

I love my HULL but I can definitely say that it's best performance is in space. In Atmos, you have to be careful with the movement of it. Otherwise you might lose some altitude when banking or turning. I recommend using the yaw axis to turn in Atmos. Like a truck keeping it level.

I have the entire HULL series and love the designs of them. The HULL A can land laden with cargo so has some decent value to it. Though the Hull B might be the sweet spot if it can land. Thanks for sharing ♥

The Freelancers do have an airlock. From the rear ramp, there are two doors before enteringg the crew area. From the airlock onthe roof there is a door before entering the crew area, and From the side door, there is a door that stays closed while the outside door and ladder is open. so.... Relaint, That one is bad, but Freelancer's sleeping crew would be just fine.
Having said, that I wish they'd re-design the Freelancer's crew area to be more like the area on the Hull A. Can't wait until the larger Hulls are in game (the C, D, E) Great ship to have! :)

I got to try the Hull A this month. I started the game a couple of years ago with the Nomad atarter package. The then star citizen version of a Winnebago. I can't not have Spaceballs flashbacks when i use the Nomad. The Hull A though, has really well thought out interior. So I'd compare it to a Sprinter camper van.

For the longest time, I had a Hull-B. I likes the idea of landing planet side with that much cargo, but during the last IAE, I turned it into a Ralien. While I find the cargo scu of the A good, There are other ships that can function as a cargo hauler with more cargo. For entry level however, The A looks to be a solid ship. With its introduction, It means SC is getting just that much closer to actual release. My question is this though. With no on board tractor beams how is the cargo going to be loaded onto the plates for transport.

It has a nice setup for a 2-up pilot/driver arrangement as one might expect for long haul freight.
Nothing feels out of place or just slapped on for nice visuals, I agree with you on the utility of those under console windows, but they are a nod to the windows present in some truck cabs to help avoid collisions with vehicles in blind spots.

I agree, my gripes are similarly minor and maybe someone who hasn't driven trucks wouldn't notice. Towel storage could use a sliding window, why have TP at all (a bidet would make more sense on a ship), why is that random knife and cutting board out instead of stored, why aren't the windows just in the floor? Otherwise, 9/10 for making a "space 18-wheeler", well done. Next, an Optimus Prime paint job.

I do think people put too much into the view from the cockpit, the UI tells you all you need to know and because you're often traveling at such fast speeds the UI will tell you before you can see trouble or danger, plus being a game you can go third person for best view but not as immersive. Haulers, bombers don't need a great view from the cockpit, personally I feel CIG have caved into community backlash to easy and the community need to trust CIG more as gamers want a gamey game like good view for really no reason in this type of game, a driving game well that's a totally different story in terms of view from a car. When we get a landing radar you see what I mean, you won't need a good view and you'll never react fast enough than a computer UI telling way before you can see.

re 4:16, technically the Freelancer does have the world's tiniest airlock before entering the hab section from the side door. Everyone (including me) forgets about its existence though as the second door doesn't reclose automatically so most of the time when flying the ship, you're entering in directly to the hab. I am hoping for a Freelancer refresh in this style, the Hull-A interior is soooo good.

I don't even play this game and it'd be my choice! It's hard to blend "work vehicle" with sleek and modern, but they really did well here. The cockpit was kept clean without exposing excess wires/ plumbing or going the other way with crowded info panels and busy lights. The empty panels don't feel like wasted space- the dashboard is clean because the SHIP is simple and straightforward. It doesn't pretend to be more than it's humble purpose, but it's gonna look sleek and respectable doing it!

my smallest hauler is Reliant Kore (for high value cargo/narcotics etc). No problem to solo it with possibility of nice multicrew (second member can act like gunner for main guns, which I find unussual), firepower, ability to transport Greycat PTV. Then Connie Taurus, great cargo capacity, in-hull cargo, awesome firepower with 2xS5 + 2S4, can still solo or multicrew, ability to transport 2xUrza-sized vehicles/miners. And my final is BM for on-board market. Dont need anything else for transport. Small hull series doesnt make any sense since those are single purpose ships unable to defend themselves. I would go only with hull D/E because there is no "better" alternative for such amounts of cargo capacity. So no reason to buy Hull A but it makes sense to buy it with ingame currency for someone who wants to start with hauler career without need to invest in better haulers with multi-purpose abilities

Honestly Morph, I have a suspicion the lower cockpit windows are entirely the ship designer's response to all the criticism about other MISC ship cockpits. Specifically the response is meant to be something along the lines of the following:
"You want more window space on MISC cockpits? Fine you got it! You won't be able to see out of it, BUT YOU'VE GOT IT!!!!!" 😝
