The ‘fruit’ in the window is marzipan. Mom was 15 in Brussels when Hitler took over. Mom turned 98 on December 7. (Pearl Harbour day). I wanted to send her your video as I think it would make her feel like ‘home’, and she would enjoy the church, but not sure the part with the weapons would help a good idea. She witnessed German soldiers using their bayonets to kill a baby…. You will be experiencing quite a lot of the horrors of war throughout your trip. We have no idea what it is like to be in fear 24/7…. You will also experience some amazing beauty and history beyond war! Thank you for sharing. (Daughter of a WWII vet and war bride Mom)
I was stationed about 25km from Dinant in the 80s and it is my favorite. I was in the Air Force and would drive a tractor trailer through Belgium to Germany. People would stop and clap because they were so grateful for the US liberating Belgium in WWII. I got to share this amazing place with my kids in 2019. Enjoying your videos. Have a great time!
Once Europe gets under your skin and flows in your blood you will never forget her. One day, years later, you will watch a video of someone else exploring places, countries that made your heart swell, and it will again. Man I LOVE Europe.
My family was from Mannheim Germany and I visited them when I was a teen for 2 months and loved every minute of it. You should visit the Black Forest and Heidelberg where there is a big castle and a quaint town. The candy shaped like fruits, vegetables in the window is Marzipan. In NYC you can go to Yorkville in the upper east side where all the German shops are. Unfortunately, not as many as when I was a child taking the subway with my mom to spend the day around there. I'm loving seeing castles, cobblestone streets and the stunning country vista's. See ya in the next one!
I look so forward to all your videos for someone who has never been anywhere I get to live vicariously and go everywhere with you. Fascinating thanks for taking me along!
Oh… how I love Europe… I must admit… I was really looking forward for this new season… I’m from Brazil, but Europe is a passion that burns in my heart! Guys, please spend as much time as you can in Spain. It’s AMAZING!
Very beautiful and emotional video. You are walking where so many before you did and you wonder what the world was like there 1100, 500, 100 years ago. Thank you for letting us come along and share your experiences. No doubt you will experience many more places where people were horrendous to each other. I have been to a few places that weigh on me to this day. But with what is going on in the world, we need to be reminded of human inhumanity over the decades and centuries. The fruit is marzipan for sure, you will see it featured all over continental Europe. Brought some home to my mom every time I travelled to Europe. Cheers.
Loved the song you played as you entered the church. Beautiful little city. The birthplace of so much history, including the sax. Wow the citadel was amazing. Such a great museum. I think the fruit you saw in that bakery was marzipan. That gingerbread looked yummy too! Great video as always! Thank you Snow and Curt! 😊❤
The gingerbread are probably "couques de Dinant". These are so hard that they are inedible for many people. Even dipping in coffee doesn't soften them.
You guys deserve an Oscar! The amount of work you put in making these videos is astounding.. I'm so glad you are enjoying roaming around Europe you are starting to look like two kids in a candy store.. ha ha... Love it! Stay safe!
Since you have been in Europe, I have been looking at photo's on line that show a 'then and now' view of areas that were involved in both world wars. Somehow, they are able to match locations and it never fails to make me cry. So much violence followed by rebuilding. I look at those faces, long gone and yet, the buildings remain. It's painfully beautiful.
On your trip through Slovenia please consider spending a day or two in Rogaska. It's a spa, medical retreat. Huge hot spring pools, massage, you can see a doctor, dentist, get your hair cut or shop for beautiful glassware nearby. I loved it there, and love Slovenia.
Wow! The tour of the Citadel was very sobering when one imagines all the violence of war. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful town and church! Safe travels. I hope G settles in.❤
WOW!!! 🤩 the structures, the beautiful buildings, the fort on top of the mountain 🤩 the birth place of the saxophone, what ????? Wow, thank you for all the wonderful places you take us to, places I would never be able to see if not for you ❤❤
What a beautiful city! The church is very impressive. Beautiful song you used when showing us around. I love churches and cathedrals. Saw so many on our visit to England. Those views over the city from the citadel were breathtaking. What a shame the sun wasn’t out. Travel safe both of you and the kitties.
I imagine Snow was tuckered out after that walk! What beautiful architecture though. Such rich history. Europe is gonna be epic, isn’t it?! Except for the narrow roads. Those don’t look very fun. Safe travels, guys!✌🏻💕🚐🐈
Hello from Canada. I am loving this Europe series already! I've visited the continent many times with France a favourite. I can't wait to see you explore some of the areas I've been to, as well as see more through your eyes. The beauty of the villages, the history (touring the former concentration camp in the Alsace region was powerful), the food, the wine :-), the people. All so amazing! (p.s. love the music you select for your videos).
If you can visit St Malo it is a lovely fortified city. Well worth a visit. I hope you get some nice weather as its beautiful in the sunshine in Europe.😊
O My!! what a Beautiful episode!! ... that church brought tears to my soul, so many scars from so many wars throughout the region ... Vanna & G-money must be the luckiest most well-traveled kitties in the world ... or at least some of the most ... Thank you for showing us these things 😺💜
Wow just wow. What a ton of history. Thx for taking us along. I am 73 and will never get to travel now with my health conditions.so traveling with u two vicariously is the only way for me to travel. Thankyou. Stay safe and safe travels for u two.
Wow, talk about culture shock! This was fascinating, educational and emotional (a bit). The church was so lovely and the song you selected was perfect. Thank you for bringing us along.
Bonjour Snow and Curt 🌞 Its amazing to compare this museum in the"old world", to the museums that you both have visited (and I've virtually tagged along with) over these past four years. So incredible to be able to see and walk through some of these ancient and gorgeous buildings. Sadly, it also highlights the evil's that humans are capable of. Hopefully, G settles into this new continent and season soon. He probably doesn't care for all the rain and chill. Thanks again for taking us along and showing us the sights. Safe travels, 🤗🇨🇦
Hari OM Well, it is over 50 year since I visited Dinant - and frankly, I didn't remember very much of what you showed us at all - but the one thing I have NEVER forgotten is the gingerbread we got there!!! So thanks for showing us that lovely church, reminding us of the Saxaphone ... and prepare yourselves for many more sensory overload museum and memorial visits! YAM xx
Wow!! Very interesting about the history of the town!! I'm so glad you got outside with no rain 😊❤😊 Merry Christmas and Happy new Year!!!! 🎄✨️🎉🥂 Thanks for sharing!! Cheers guys 🥂
I loved the Cathedral, it is so exquisite. The height and stained glass are beautiful. I look forward to your next adventures around Europe. Thank you for all you do.
I loved what the both of you have captured and bringing us along, I appreciate and respect that the both of your travels have included all of us. We are all blessed and grateful for the opportunity tour and together your insight and the journey. I cannot say Thank you enough times.. There is so much to celebrate and share in the world.. 🌎 Thank you the both of you so much.. 🎄❤️❤️❤️🙏👍👍🎄❤️❤️❤️🎁🧐☀️☂️🚐
Another Beautiful video yet on a gloomy day. Thank you for all the history and insight. I’m always amazed how you find just the perfect songs to help capture the moments. And always good to see the kitties exploring too. Love you. Really looking forward to this journey, you make me feel like I’m there.
My great grandparents on my dad's side of the family came over from Belgium. I dont know what part but I'm so excited to follow along on your journey. On my mother's side we are Scotch -Irish. The town is beautiful. Love the architecture. Awesome video.
Very powerful, that citadel museum was a sobering reminder of the brutality of war. The church was just enormous and awesome with that beautiful song in the background, it was lovely. Thank you for the wonderful tours and it was so nice to see G out for a walk about, learn some interesting history and see your smiling faces! Stay safe!💕🇨🇦
Wow that church was breathtaking ❤ loved the citadel ( hope I spelled that right). I'm in awe over everything the town is so old, beautiful and breathtaking. The tunnel I was worried you were gonna get stuck in. Thank you so much for taking us along with you on your journey. I can't wait until the next video.
As Europeans we sometimes forget the beauty and age of all things around us! Very cool to see it through your eyes.. Looking forward to the rest of your European adventures!
Wow from the squeeze of the van making you hold your breath it was so tight between the rocks to the beautiful church stained-glass windows to the citadel museum high above the cliffs! What views! Through all the historical information - God is ever present! He has overcome death! All glory goes to Him! Blessings, Jojo💕
OMG...this brings back memories from many years ago when I lived in Belgium! Dinant was the first place I visited outside of Antwerpen. There is a huge cave (Grotte de Dinant) there and you can have a tour guide show you around. Dinant is considered the French Riviera from Belgium! Have fun and thank you for another great video!
When you head back through France visit Oradour-Sur-Glane, the martyred village,New Aquitaine, west central France. It’s now a museum, very moving and a awful wartime tragedy that we all should know about. It’s respectfully open to visitors, there is an entrance fee but we’ll worth a visit.
Another great video. It was an intense museum and you did a wonderful job capturing that feeling. The music, the gun shots…. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
Hi Snow and Curt! This was intense! I loved the walk through the museum. I was feeling all the feels right through my comp screen. My Father was in WWII and one of my great greats was in WWI. This just had me mesmerized. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful journey with us all. ☮🙂
I am so happy I found your channel a few months ago. I will never be able to travel the world as you do, so thank you for taking me along with you and showing me so many wonders of the world up close and personal. Your videos are fun, entertaining and educational and I love sightseeing with you as I enjoy my morning coffee!
I'm really enjoying this new/old world tour of the rich history of Europe .. thank you two and the kitties for giving us a glimpse into parts of the world we'd only be able to see on your tour .. as always can't wait for your next episode :) xo from Canada .
There’s just so much history compacted into these small towns. It has to be a bit overwhelming just to take it all in, so you know what you’re looking at. And that church was truly epic. Talk about tenacity, every time there is damage it was rebuilt. The museum at the citadel was sobering, but was also fascinating. Again the history, and how the town has survived through all of the years.
As a kid my mom took us all over PA learning history, but sadly I didn't appreciate the tours back then, but wow in my 30's I find them so amazing and fascinating seeing the items they have restored and preserved over the years. Thanks for these museum tours!
Couple things: at minute 17:50, those fruits are made with *Marzipan*, and they are traditional at Christmas. Almond paste is an ivory colour naturally, so the less food colouring, the nicer the taste. Second thing: at minute 18:30, when you were backing out - note the pavement signage "CAR". That means *BUS* in all Francophone countries (comes from "Autocar"). So heads-up for future parking/stopping. Last thing: You missed the caves!!! They are called "La Merveilleuse" (the Marvellous) and are three stories of stalactites and pools and - well - marvels! Having fun watching your travels
I don't even have words for this incredible destination. Europe has such an old old historic vibe. You know lots of life lived, wars, restoration of that absolutely beautiful cathedral. I love Neo Gothic architecture. That stained glass window was sooo beautiful and significant to the history of that town. They could not be kept down. Destruction after destruction of that cathedral was restored. The citadell was amazing too. I think the fruits you saw in the window were Marzipan, ie: sweet almond paste. Tasty but very rich treats. The breads looked amazing as well. You can just feel the history. Thank you so much Snow and Curt. Hoping GMoney gets comfortable pretty soon. Europe is an entirely different land and with ancats sense of smell being so keen, GMoney is making sure it's cool before he just chills. Steep learning curve. Smart kitty cat. Cheers and see you next time.Enjoy yourselves. ❤
Wow what a great stop. The Citadel and also all of the things that were from World War II brought back a dark time in Europe and you showed it to us so well. I was an end of the war baby born in 1944 a year before the war ended. So I've always enjoyed history from that era history from that era. What a great video you did. You started my Saturday off very well as you always do on each Saturday. Gee is going to have many experiences as you take him on his walk each day. UA-cam are so professional with all of the videos that you do as you travel.
This is one of the most intriguing and meaningful episodes for me. My grandson plays the saxophone just like his dad did. His dad passed away unexpectedly when he was 14 years old. The history of Adolphe Sax having a troubled life hit so very close to home. I sent the story to him. The rest of the episode was thought provoking for me, with the history of the town, the many battles, the rulers, the continual rebirth of the area, and the Citadel. Thank you so, so much.
I found myself tearing up for some.reason, I have to think back to all the people whose lives were.impacted back then.Beautifully, done the music was fantastic. Great job driving the narrow roads too!!
At 76 my touring days are over. I toured Italy years ago. Your video brings back many lovely memories. Really enjoyed the flamingos as i was raised in Florida. You hit me on all cylinders today!!
The music is beautiful. ❤ My father-in-law served in Europe in World War 2. He met a Belgian man who served in the military and who's family owned a dairy back then in Antwerp and they became lifelong friends. My husband took a trip back there as a young duelly in the Air Force Academy. He had 24 hours of downtime and took the train to outside of Antwerp and then walked the 2 miles in the rain to meet this man. Long story short..he met him and showed him photos of the family and visited with him. He fed my husband breakfast, let him take a shower while his clothes dried from the rain. He took him to the train station in the town near Antwerp and they said their goodbyes. The gentleman was so kind my husband said and overcome with emotion to meet his lifelong friend's oldest son. His family still owns that dairy to this day.
Places to visit in Belgium: Waterloo, especially after seeing the new movie on Napoleon. And, of course, Bruges. My daughter lives in the north of France in Lille. The weather won’t get better so it is wise to head south and tour southern Europe before summer.
I've been watching you guys for a short while but this is my first comment. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, adventure, joy and wonder at seeing different parts of the world, and it makes me miss travelling SOOO much. Although, being divorced I don't currently have a partner to travel with (I don't enjoy travelling alone) so hopefully someday again! Peace & hugs from the west coast of Canada!💙
Such a beautiful and interesting video! I think our trip thru Europe with y’all is going to be awesome!! Going to be hard to wait for new ones to come out!!
Amazing. Powerful. Sad. And sad to think that we have learned nothing over all the history and all the wars of this world... The Gaza Strip, Ukraine, and many other violences going on today that are every bit as violent in their own ways. Its sobering. Thank you for sharing. As always, I LOVE your videos.
Wow! From beginning to end! I'd love to know the story behind that one lane road between the mountain and why they chose to construct it the way they did. The cathedral was magnificent, The citadel was amazing and I never knew the history of the saxophone! To cool!! I remember hearing in the nightly news often times about Charles de Gaulle. He really had his sights set on taking over Monaco when Prince Renee and Princess Grace were on the throne. I really enjoyed this. I learned a lot from this! Things I never would have known if not for the two of you!!❤🥂
My stepfather who raised me, was in WWII stationed in Belgium. I remember his stories about him sneaking potato peels to the local children who were starving to death during the war. His stories will always be with me. I love the rows of buildings along the river. Enjoy this historic town! Wish I was there with you guys.❤
The architecture is so different from where you’ve come from. I history of Belgium is rich and I had no idea about the war implications, although I should have been. 😮 It’s such a wonderful journey ❤❤
If there's an instrument I so enjoy listening to is the saxophone 🎷 and it's awesome that yall shared the history and the beautiful historical sights. Thank you both for sharing such endless beautiful historical treasures. Sending lots of love hugs and prayers daily to yall too 🤗❤️🙏
The ‘fruit’ in the window is marzipan.
I think the fruit you saw in that bakery was marzipan. That gingerbread looked yummy too! Great video as always! Thank you Snow and Curt! 😊❤
You beat me to it by a few minutes. I was thinking marzipan.
The gingerbread are probably "couques de Dinant". These are so hard that they are inedible for many people. Even dipping in coffee doesn't soften them.
The fruits are marzipan
Loved that song also
You guys deserve an Oscar! The amount of work you put in making these videos is astounding.. I'm so glad you are enjoying roaming around Europe you are starting to look like two kids in a candy store.. ha ha... Love it! Stay safe!

Right?! I’ve said they should be winning documentarian awards!🏆
Wow, thank you!
Just Wow! That whole church scene and music!❤❤❤❤
Since you have been in Europe, I have been looking at photo's on line that show a 'then and now' view of areas that were involved in both world wars. Wow! Excellent. A sad history but what a great job of preserving it. A key factor in preventing a society from repeating it due to lack of knowledge.
On your trip through Slovenia please consider spending a day or two in Rogaska. It's a spa, medical retreat. Huge hot spring pools, massage, you can see a doctor, dentist, get your hair cut or shop for beautiful glassware nearby. I loved it there, and love Slovenia.
That cathedral was phenomenal. The song you played so meaningful ❤
Wow! The tour of the Citadel was very sobering when one imagines all the violence of war. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful town and church! Safe travels. I hope G settles in.❤
What a gorgeous stainglass window.
Belgium is such a wonderful place and full of little wonders. Dinant is one of those. It forever stays in my heart.

Awesome information. Thank you so much‼️
Wow, thank you so much for this. Love how you tell us the stories and history. This adventure is just going to be sooooo amazing!
😁😁😁 thank you
I don't even have words for this incredible destination. ❤
Marzipan fruit are a common thing in Belgium and Switzerland (here in Austria too), so not chocolate or "normal" candy, it's marzipan :)
Thank you so much‼️
This is one of the most intriguing and meaningful episodes for me.
Happy we could share the special story of the saxophone with you 😊
I'm loving the history and architecture!
Gent Belgium is a hidden gem!
So much love & respect for you guys, travel safe & Merry Xmas to you both & the Kitties
Merry Christmas to you
The music brought me back to the 50's. Loved it. Love all the Sax on the bridge too.
I’m a saxophonist so you know I’m loving this. That whole area is so interesting.
It was a cool bit of history and the bridge was great! Glad you enjoyed it
WoW those Tartarian buildings and architecture are simply stunning 😲🔥💓
Places to visit in Belgium: Waterloo, especially after seeing the new movie on Napoleon. And, of course, Bruges. My daughter lives in the north of France in Lille. The weather won’t get better so it is wise to head south and tour southern Europe before summer.
You guys!!! Thank you!!! That was epic!!!
You will have days without rain but most days when I was there it would sprinkle everyday but embrace it and enjoy the time that you are there
I've been watching you guys for a short while but this is my first comment.
We are happy to share the journey with you until you find yourself a travel partner! 😊

Such a beautiful and interesting video! I think our trip thru Europe with y’all is going to be awesome!! Going to be hard to wait for new ones to come out!!
Can't wait!
Wow, that was a great tour of the museum. Loved the sax bridge❤
Stunning video. Definitely adding Dinant to my ‘bucket-list.’
Fascinating museum ! Loved the tour
Amazing. Powerful. Sad. And sad to think that we have learned nothing over all the history and all the wars of this world... The Gaza Strip, Ukraine, and many other violences going on today that are every bit as violent in their own ways. Its sobering. Thank you for sharing. As always, I LOVE your videos.
Remember the past, and make a better tomorrow.
Thanks so much for taking us on the tour of Dinant with you. What a town full of history. Thanks again.
Love the song in the cathedral it made me cry.
So incredible! So glad to be back on the road again!! Missed you all so much!! Love you both!! ;)
👍🤩💝Fantastic. Thank you for sharing your journey. 🙏💝
A condensed area of history, I love this stuff.
When you were at the Cenedelle and opened to that view, I just gasped! That view was breathtaking.
The architecture is so different from where you’ve come from. I history of Belgium is rich and I had no idea about the war implications, although I should have been. 😮 It’s such a wonderful journey ❤❤
So much history to learn over here!
The “candies” are marzipan, which is a slightly sweet almond paste.
Yes! This is what I said. I wish they tried one. I absolutely love a marzipan treat with coffee.
Thank you Snow and Kirt for taking me with you!
These are places I'll never be.
Blessings 🙏🐾🩵
😊😊😊
Just wow, thanks for the ride.
Just got back from Austria. Looking so forward to seeing all your travels in Europe
I love the old architecture.
Thank you for going places and documenting places I will never get too see.
