Even more depressing when you think about Eugene representing two of the most influential people in Shin’s life. A bespectacled older brother like Rei, and a diligent Alba like Lena.

The scene was actually much more gruesome in the light novel. His whole body from his waist was gone. He was bleeding out rapidly but still held on long enough to see his sister one last time thanks to Shin.
Many people don’t see the point to Eugene’s character, but he helped build Shin’s character to help find his own future the way he wanted to make a future for his little sister. He also embodied kindness and compassion that does help show that there are people who truly care among those in this new country. We miss him too.

I think they showed more gruesome detail this time as a reminder that the suffering isn't over yet lol

She explained her power on the last episode.
she also explained in the episode why children are in the base, so that the soldiers will fight harder because the little Antonieta that talks with them all day is back at the base, they need to hold at all cost or advance, there is no retreat.

First half of this episode was joyous and hopeful with Fido coming back, new and improved. The second half was very somber and tragic with Eugene’s gruesome death. This was a very up and down episode, in a good way. The animation during the action scenes was once again awesome.

The stuff about shins head and the scar...in the light novel his brother choked him with a chain not his bare hands but in show they decided to do it with him choking shin with his hands. thats y the scar is so intense

I love how the first half of the show is them making you care about characters and then killing them off.
And then the second half ends up being the same thing, just in a different country. 😂

    "It seems slow"
Compared to the "Juggernauts" the Vanagandr absolutely has lower mobillity. Though it makes sense. The Juggernauts are woefully inadequate in armor, and just barely adequate* in their armament, but they have one saving grace in their mobility. But even then, the full mobility of Juggernauts can only be demonstrated by veterans like Spearhead who have survived long enough to learn. Also their lower mass allows for higher acceleration.
Meanwhile, the Vanagandr has actual armor that might survive a Lowe's cannon at the right angle instead of a thin aluminum hull that can't even hold up to .50 cal AP rounds. The Vanagandr also has a cannon powerful enough that you don't have to be close or point blank with an elevation advantage to take out a Lowe in one or a few shots.
All in all, the Vanagandr is much closer to the idea of a main battle tank while the Juggernaut is... well probably closest to a technical for what I can immediately think of that people are relatively familiar with. Cheap, expendable, flimsy, more nimble, armed with lesser weapons...
As for the instructor acknowledging good thinking but still reprimanding Shin... well part of being a good soldier is following orders (unless said orders are illegal or unethical), and lateral thinking can be... dicey. If every soldier thinks they can just ignore orders because they know better, then there's really no organization or centralized command. I'm not saying they want blindly obedient soldiers either, or at least the US doesn't (overall), but purely praising loose cannons in front of others can lead to disorder.

Frederica was saying her family started the war, not that it was her directly.

I can understand what Shin had to do to Eugene, not because of the Legion, so Eugene wouldn't feel any Pain anymore. I know this because my Grandpa told me his War experience when was in the US Navy during WWII on the Invasion of Tarawa Atoll. My Grandpa was a Landing Craft Operator and he was bringing back Wounded US Marines to the Hospital Ships. But when he was getting more wounded Marines he was running towards a live US Marine, but a Japanese Mortar Shell hit between them and my grandpa flew 20 feet. He started to wake up because the US Marine woke him up calling my Grandpa "Boats" because of his patch having Boatswain Mate on the Patch. When my grandpa woke up seeing the Marine right in front of him and said thanks, and when the Marine turned to face him, Grandpa saw a big giant hole on his right side, Blood and guts were coming out of him. The adrenaline was keeping the Marine alive and not feeling any pain, but the Marine knew that he wouldn't be going home so he asked my Grandpa for his Sidearm and to not look back, and continue getting the wounded back to the Hospital ships. My Grandpa gave his Sidearm to the Marine, My grandpa told me the last look he saw on the Marines face was a smile and my grandpa turned and ran about 15 steps until he heard his Sidearm going off. Grandpa never looked back and he continue getting the wounded on his Landing Craft, and sending them to the Hospital ships. Even though Grandpa was not like Shin but he gave his Sidearm to the Marine when he asked for my Grandpa's Pistol in order to end his suffering and pain before the adrenaline was about to wear off. Also, seeing Eugene's body like that, he............ he could not be recovered or saved in anyway. So Shin pulled the trigger and ended Eugene's Pain and Suffering after seeing his Sister's Picture for one last time.

Here is the thing the soldiers from the Federacy as much as I can't actually condone how they treat the 86 I can at least understand it. If I was a normal soldier who signed up in my teens and was in my training with a soldier who is the same age but was raised in combat with capabilites so great that it was provable that experienced soldiers are simply unable to pilot the dangerous equipment that keeps killing testers yet them doing those same tests dosent even result in an injury I would struggle to keep my mental health. I would need to convince myself that I am not fighting for nothing, that my being entirely inadequate by comparison is simply because they are a "monster" otherwise on the battlefield I would doubt myself too much and I would fall into a doom spiral that would certainly get me killed.

😍Dani🥰I get back from the trenches, lil folks, had one of her gifts in the bedroom with her. We agreed to do gifts, tomorrow after dinner. She asked, if she could open it, I said, yes. Gang, she’s on FaceTime with her sister, she had the box cutter ready! She opened it up with such vigor!😂 Gang, it was just one of her hats. I told you I grabbed her, fall/winter drip too. She flopped back on the bed in disappointment.😂 I got her cool stuff, she picked the wrong box. I think she grabbed me some J’s I can tell by the box. I go pick up her charm bracelet tomorrow. On King David.

If I had a nickel for every time an anime censored a person getting blow/cut in half and still being slightly alive... I'd have two nickel's which isn't a lot.... but very very weird that it happened twice.
