A BMM rising out of the floor would be a site to behold.
The sound alone would be epic!
A BMM being in the game at all would be a sight to behold!
Be nice to see my Idris come up out the ground on an elevator
don't think the BMM will spawn in hangers or they might have to redesign the larger hangers.
anyhow it's a good star at creating persistence feel realistic,
You mean an unfinished skeleton that has no team working on, as even more top Devs are leaving right now, probably over to Ubisoft with the rest of them.
They talked about this a while back and as far as I remember it is still the plan to have your ship come up on the elevator this also will be used if you are having the npc's load your cargo, you will use the terminal to bring your ship up once the cargo timer is finished and also for repair services.
I'm hoping that pic is for the instanced hangars, we get assigned an instance of a hangar and go down there and can spawn and unspawn our ships right there.. would make inventory management manageable
I'm with you on this one. I have always suspected that we will have doors on the floor for the same reasons you have pointed out but also because CR once said.... about 100 years ago now in a ATV that seeing ships pop in and out on pads is "immersion breaking" so pads will have to go and become just a refueling point. Obviously at the time he was specifically talking about rest stop pads, but the same is true for hangars.
Yes, if you call your ship from the terminals, run to the lift, punch the number for your hangar, then get out the lift, if the servers are running fast enough your ship will be there waiting for you.... great. But what if the servers arnt running fast, what if you have a friend in EVERY hanger before you call it, what if we get "personal hangars"
This makes 100% sense for arc Corp. Always thought it would do this at area 18 or one of the other areas on arccorp.
Finally. Been hoping for this (including outdoors hangars coming with elevators) for years. Nicely spotted and many thanks for sharing!!!
You know I've been wanting my mcdonalds to rise up on an elevator for so long. Maybe this is a break through I am looking for.. Ignore me I am so hungry right now.
I didn't even notice that those are doors in the floor.
I was just excited to see we might be getting those custom hangers we get with each ship.
Which also leads to another question. But I'll wait. It will just lead to to much speculation.
IMO it would solve many problems W/realistic immersion and help FPS.
The idea of the Elite style hangars have been around for awhile. If this is finally where they are going I will happily welcome it
Great questions. I guess we'll see what they give us in a couple months. Looks like they already have vehicle issues...
Now I want a Kaiju mech. Thanks for that
😎👍🏿
Would be a fantastic quality of life improvement, and large bump to immersion. I know I want to see that F8 rise up out of those doors.
My bet is that being there are instanced hangars this is their way of making it realistic. You land in the surface hangar then you lower into the ground and the doors shut and you get your own private one.
that's actually a good shout
Now that would make sense
it's about time they adopted the DEATH STRANDING/ELITE DANGEROUS storage system for ships.
but of late i don't know if it's cos todd left but i feel there is a void out at CIG right now.
i just hope the next 2 years pass safly,
i don't get to 1on1 talk about some of these topics and spectrum is a joke cos of damn gas lighting mods.
but everything i predicted would happen was announced last year.
That actually sounds about right. If you have played X4, all the ships come up from elevators so it makes sense SC would do the same. Makes it easier to store. Certain ships would be too large to do this, so they would need some other way of bringing them in / out.
Reality is keeping all ships existent in the verse is a ridicule idea to begin with capacity server. I know some don't mind spending 4090 and threadeipper 90+ cores but this is the sort of things that don't matter and will bog down a server if you don't bring in MAGIC. Elevators is nothing new at all, it was discussed, reiterated in spectrum several times by backers , including myself to help create the illusion that YOUR shipS are just waiting for you.
I can't imagine if I were to get om a actual server and we are 50 players with 40+ ships spaqmed in a same location LOL go cry on your pc.
Posted this in the Game Ideas forum a while back... that the ASOP terminal would be in the hangar and the ship would be stored & retrieved from below. Shame that old Game Ideas posts just... disappear with time... can't prove it. Also included in the same post was a concept for how to handle Area 18 building interiors... ah, well. Shoulda CTRL+S'd the posts. lol
I like the cut of your speculation there mate.🧐
Just want my hangar back lol it was the first thing we got to do in SC from the first one that allowed all ships in Hangar to appear in it to the up to 5 room hangar.
If you go back to when we had hangers the Aeroview hanger is massive. it had about 8 places for various sized vehicles and room for 3 or so ships of varying size. The Easter egg hatched a long time ago ;)
I’m looking forward to seeing the large industrial VFG hanger that comes with some of the game packs.
From what I understand, a player will be able to spawn into their hanger, there will be a terminal there where you can request your ship, and whatever vehicles you want to spawn. However, I also understand, (I think) that Alpha 3.23 will have the instanced hangers, but we will still have to fly to an external pad, to retrieve our vehicles? That mechanic will be coming in a later update.
To be honest with you, and myself, I don't think I find the idea that exciting on its own. As you hinted at, you would rarely see the ship rise up (but you might be able to store it from the hangar). You could choose what ship you want from the hangar itself but that would mean ordering a hangar from the lobby first and if you don't know what ship you want then it would have to be a large hangar every time, which is impractical.
The only way it can work is if the ASOP terminals remain in the lobby and work as they do now but you can ask for your 'Personal' hangar and that is the one that has an elevator in the floor so you can keep swapping which ship to bring up (to swap cargo etc). That will always be the largest hangar you are entitled to.
0:50 the ground vehicles from elevators was going to be part of the cargo elevator implementation but that specific part of the cargo elevators got bumped down the road. Sounded like it won't be long after the cargo elevators though. Maybe in a .1 patch or 3.24.
The new freight elevators are more then just cargo and loot. They've shown that they ARE going to be used to call up ground vehicles so you can roll them onto your ships without the need to head for a moon pad.
But yeah, I think these doors are meant to be the transition between the public launch bay that the current hangars now and the instanced hangar where your can customize and leave stuff lying around without blocking up traffic.
they have literally been talking about this for the last two years...its part of the hangar rework coming in 3.23. you will be requesting ships and items from within your hangar and elevators will bring them up to you.
i'm thinking since long that Chris R said "i dont want things to pop magically in SC". They removed the pad claim for that reason. Having an elevator to bring up the ship we claim in hangar is the natural following of this direction.
People need to get their head around "instancing"...think of it as multi-dimensional overlap..
Your Hangar will be a multi-dimensional overlap..it will take up the same space as hundreds of other hangars.
I imagine this is for when you are done in your instanced personal hangar they will move your ship to a physicalized normal hangar
Makes sense if you start getting a huge fleet, to have all your ships in the same place. So you can load your Pisces on the Carrack, etc.
With doors on the floor you could have 4 storage hangers for each landing hanger or more on a planet with multiple levels.
I think it’s just a hangar that has its doors on the bottom- so to Land you just fly in and hover until the doors close and you can land on them
at first glance i assumed it could be hangar doors for orison
but ship storage would be far more applicable
I hope the ship wont come up before we enter the hanger and we have to manually press a panel for the ship to raise up
All I know is that it’s gonna be hella buggy at first with ships flying all over the place
this has been spoken about before. No idea if will make it in 3.23 though.
I wonder if at some point this will become too tedious to play with all the realism factors.
That would be dope to see.
Yes indeed!
I noticed running into the hanger the ship just poof into existence.
Getting hyped for floor doors~ SC in a nutshell xD
Asop in your "own" hanger would be soooo much better!
Looks like the floor of the original Aeroview hanger.
That would be awesome, and dare i say, even more immersive.
It is the way I would do it, Or have it delivered from a side door.
Good points and looking forward to seeing the future possibilities
What if it were like a roof hangar. Probably not it, but just poking fun at
I thought in your home hanger... you can call up a ship so you can also call up vehicles and or make it so you can transfer manually cargo from one ship to another.
They stated that spawning ground vehicles in the persistent hangars wouldn't be in the initial hangar release, but added later. BUT...they didn't reiterate it on the ISC released after this vid, where they actually showed the ship elevators in action. So who knows. Manual cargo loading via the freight elevator will be in play though.
Thanks for the content. you are one of the only SC creators that I still watch after all these years. very entertaining! keep it up!
Appreciate Garrett!
This can be huge.
It's 9:10 AM PST. Do you know where your Pico is?
😮.......🤣
hope we get underwater travel too
Nice video u have my sub nice voice
I want to whip out a pokemon ball and deploy my ship at the flick of a wrist... (I'm not serious btw, for all those literal Drax's out three)
I think someone made a video. It showed ships coming into the hanger through a side wall. The ship took damage. It explained why you could spawn your ship and it be damaged. If this is their fix, that explains it.
That hangar elevator is one of the few things I like about Elite Dangerous. So it would be cool to have something similar in Star Citizen.
The doors on the floor have my drawers on the floor.
😮....😆😅
Star Citizen Conspirociooooo!
true
GODZILLA
I would love to see an elevator like this bring up an Idris
Ooooh doors on the floor!!!! Yeah that looks intriguing af man!!!
Gojira!!
Yessirrr

I thought it was a door at first, but I'm pretty sure it's just the floor, a stylistic redesign of the sane Aeroview hangars we had before.
Hopium
I still owe you some payback
hmmmmmmmmmm
