The first video of 2024. We wish you all a peaceful, creative, and healthy New Year. This video is the final goodbye to the old workshop on the lonesome hill. At last, we are settling at a new location... the workshop is going to rise in the Barbacena Backyard!

Not Just Sawdust, Não Só Serradura, because it isn't just that. It's the evidence reflecting the relentless urge to create, the proverbial blood of that beautiful material nature provides us with. It's the sharp teeth that cut, the subdued mind that finds out what a piece of wood harbors in itself.

Congratulations on your new and beautiful venture/homestead! Well wishes and lovely montage!
Thanks! I hope 2024 will be a creative and healthy year for the whole family!
Good luck with everything in your new home and workshop Gerrit 🔨👍😊 Tony
Thanks Tony. It will take a while before the new workshop will be operational. I always complained that there were so few car-boot sales and flea markets around where we lived. Now I know that was just to protect me from "collecting" more stuff! There's no room for a single box or bag left in the shed! Wishing you all the best for 2024, may you find some jewels on your hunt for rare tools!
A bit sad, but very exciting. Plus you'll always have the memories, and some of the projects from the Lonely Hill. All the best Gerrit!
Thanks so much! Of course, the memories will stay, as they are there from the framing and restoring workshop in The Netherlands. As my wife says; Looking forward is the only direction that makes any sense, so I will! Have a great year, down there in Australia. I guess with the newborn you will have your "hands full". Time management was never one of my talents, so I wish you all the luck, prosperity, and enjoyment with your kid and hope you'll find some moments to make the usual interesting videos.
Wishing you and your family the best for the new year and i myself am eager to see you start your new shed life. Long way to move, but at least it has a shed. I moved a year ago and i am still waiting for mine to be built. Michael
Thanks Michael. For sure it will all work out in the end. I guess putting a big tent in the backyard to store all the stuff when rebuilding the shed will be the solution. Wishing you a speedy construction on yours!
I love the choice of music, it's good 'new start' music! Welcome to your new home and workshop. I'll certainly miss the old place and especially the log beam but I know you'll make the Backyard yours in no time. A very happy New Year and all our love to you both.
Thanks Mark! Oh yes, the backyard will be "not just sawdust" style for sure at some point. For now, we are in the process of making the new house into a home. It will take a while to adjust, but 2024, at the least, will need creativity and a good overview to get things right. All the best to you and yours from the Barbacena Backyard!
It is with some sadness and a lot of joy watching this video.
Sadness because it is an end of an era but joy because of all the adventures ahead of you both.
Looking forward to seeing the Backyard come together.
Take care my friend and Happy New Year to you and Miriam.
Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw! I wish you and yours all the best for 2024. I'm well aware that for some this new year will come with serious challenges. We can hopefully stay focussed on the projects that make this new place a real home (and a good functional workshop).
Somehow the old place finds a spot somewhere in the back of our minds. The excitement of a new vicinity, house, workshop, neighbours, and the quest for new opportunities makes it easier not to look back.
We're so happy that everything is coming out together alright guys, also excited with the fact that we'll be living closer now and that there will be more opportunities to see ourselves and even collaborate in some new projects together in the future. Cheers and wishes of a fruitfull 2024.
It's great to have you and your family as friends, Cesar. Next to that sharing the same passion, work-wise, gives so many opportunities for collaboration projects. The one we talked about will be the first project when the workshop is ready! See you soon!
@@NotJustSawdust Yes, my friend I feel the same way. I'm sure that we'll make good things together from now on. 🤗
Wow! It's been that long...I remember your blog that I followed on LumberJocks, and coming here with your twin brother LOL! A lot of work went into this place and It gave you knowledge for the next. A day at a time Bro... and a better NewYear! (noticed your tail light is out!)
Yes, Thomas, it's been quite a decade! I guess we'll be starting that process all over again. A bit different building, but nevertheless, it seems to need the same treatment as the last one! Wishing you all the best for 2024. When everything goes to plan, there will be new projects to share at LumberJocks!
