In today's video we have some unexpected crazy weather for mid December as the temperatures soar above 25 degrees! We have to leave and get away and it feels so good to be making a van life travel film again.. We're in the Andalucian city of Ronda and we share why this place is one of our favourite places to visit in Spain..
Van life in Andalucia, Spain is as good as it gets in winter, the weather is generally very good, the park ups are plentiful and it's still a very good price to eat out if you escape the really touristy spots, the locals are friendly and the scenery absolutely stunning... 13:10 The van seems claustrophobic without windows and with the bulkhead. Not pleasurable IMHO...
Our thoughts on the bulkhead. Sounds great but pulling up in the rain you always need to get out the van. More importantly as you wildcamp mostly like us. Any issues outside the van at night you will need to face. At least without the bulkhead you can get up and drive off without confronting a maybe difficult situation. You don’t need to leave the van.

Hey Craig, thanks for your message😊.. We mentioned AGAIN in this video the situation with the bulkhead.. THERE WILL BE A HATCH/WINDOW CUT IN IT BIG ENOUGH FOR US ALL TO GET THROUGH QUICKLY AND SAFELY! They’ll be no leaving the van to get to the back/front.. It will be perfect as the sofa/bed will be directly behind the bulkhead so dogs can jump straight through too😊

You both seem so happy...over the moon with the van as it is. In that case, anything you do to it will be a bonus. My hubby and I rode our bikes in Europe for a year with nothing but a tiny 2-man pup tent and rain fly...and we loved every minute of it (except for 16 days of continual downpour in England). The simpler the better and less things to go wrong. Seems like you are doing it right. Happy Holidays guys and puppers :)

I prefer snow for Christmas. I'm enjoying the cold because there are no bugs, no thunder storms, fresh crisp air, and it's not way too hot to do anything. 🧑🎄

Another great vid. The when to stay in the UK or go back to a place in the sun usually sees people going South for the winter and coming back/visiting the UK in summer. Knew a guy a few years back who, on retirement, moved (pre Brexit) to Spain. He did the opposite spending the summer in Spain (and spring and autumn to be fair) but coming back to the UK for December, January and February. His logic was he liked a winter but his main reason for moving to Spain was to escape rainy English summers - I get that.
We did the UK in winter last 2 years and really enjoyed it as so festive with Xmas decs and the cosy pubs but we are enjoying the winter sunny down here this year. 😁

Your my new habbit, been watching your vloggs now since winter last. Same time every Friday on my 45 min break, im a truck driver by the way. I have my break at Helmsley fire station, i get the coffee out, snack and my tablet out and i sit and enjoy. Dont waste your vlogg on haters, don't give them your time. Enjoy your travels as i do.

The caqui (?) fruit is lovely. They sell them in Mercadona. You normally have to keep them for about a week until they are ripe (they become softer when they are ready).
Camping in the van looks good. Just like old times for you I believe. (If I remember correctly you spent some time in a van down under).
Guys, campervan conversions are overrated! Lots of people in the US have “no build “ builds, that they can modify as and when, and save themselves a sh**load of money to boot! All you need is a couple of hammocks, some bolga baskets for storage, a bucket and a portable cooker, job done! (More or less). Love Ronda btw, I’ll never forget getting out of the van and looking over the edge on the bridge, it was one of those moments in life that I’ll never forget as we hadn’t done any research before we went there, WOW!

you are better off taking the bulkhead out and putting a curtain rail across the cab.if you try and cut a hole in the bulkhead with a cutting disk little iron filings destroy glass and surrounding surfaces..your bed can simply be made across the back doors leaving you with a garage underneath..that leaves room for a bigger kitchen and shower room.you can also use the bed as a couch so its a win win..your design sounds complicated and difficult to achieve imo..plus if you have a garage under the bed its another place for the dogs to sleep or hang out.
Agree with you 100% about Ronda, I absolutely love it. That area where you had lunch is lovely.

Watching your wonderful video from my hammock. Three years ago I changed from a bed to a hammock. For decades I suffered from lower back and hip pain. Tried everything until someone suggested the hammock. I use one similar to yours now. And a I’m a side sleeper so modified it into a partial bridge style hammock. Just wish my mini van was long enough to install one in instead of using a cot. They are cool sleeping in my Arizona hot summer nights. Winter I line it with sheepskin and then cozy. Did you know that about half of the world still sleep in hammocks instead of beds? And in small van spaces so easy to put up and save a ton of space.
Anyways so glad that after a year! of dealing with van woes you can finally relax.
Sun,sea,sand with no Christmas vibes 😮 Here in the UK we have to decorate our homes in tinsel and lights with a Christmas tree to brighten our miserable dreary cold winter days 😢 Yep, id swop with you guys quicker than I can say Tinsel Town, given half a chance ❤
But the UK does know how to make it festive for sure. 🎄🎉

The Ronda Bull Ring was the first in the world to be STARTED, BUT SECOND to be completed !! The Seville Bull Ring was started Second, but finished FIRST, as it was all built from WOOD, while Ronda is all STONE, so took longer to build !! The gorge is called the TAJO, which i think means Gorge in Spanish !! Sorry, part time Ronda resident getting fussy about Ronda facts !! Great video, Thanks !!!

It’s hot here in Canberra but we think it’s so lovely to have a hot Xmas - we plan to visit our favourite Xmas store this week & will hopefully see J&B too!!

Re oldest city. Malaga was founded by the Phoenicians like Carthage. I think that was something like 1000 BCE. They found archaeological remains there a few years back. Spent a night in Ronda a long time ago. It blew a hell of a wind across the gorge during the day I remember. Beautiful place.

You haven't to say BC now it's CE, common era, my husband tells me. But I had never heard of it before, so people still want to say BC and AD as far as I'm concerned. I stay for a dinner in the same terrace in Ronda. It was a beautiful full moon summer night with a delicious food. Absolutely amazing memories. Thank you. Also Setenil is a nice place to visit. 😊

Hi, fairly new to your vlogs and love how descriptive you both are of the areas you visit. I have bad knees so will never be able to walk around some of the places you go but it's nice to see them through your eyes. After reading a book on the Spanish Civil war I would like to visit Guernica and wonder if you have been there and vlogged it, if so can you point me in the direction of that vlog. Just done a two week trip to UK from France, next Monday heading down to Spain to get some sunshine. Not too worried about the temperature but I need to see that big yellow ball in the sky..
That need for the big yellow Ball and blue skies is why we moved to Spain, never regretted it😊

Loved the vlog and the menus too. What a difference to see the City all dressed up for Christmas, and to compare it to good old Britain where the councils can't even afford to unblock the grids at the side of the road. Oh how we embrace our floods and the free showers from a passing bus or stolen Range Rover. 😅 Take care guys, and thanks for taking us around that wonderful city. 👋
A week of each there's on 2 days of Christmas Christmas eve and Christmas day .. my mum put the tree up on 23rd and took it down on the 26th
We have traveled to many places in Andulucia for xmas lights. The big cities are good but you expect that. Malaga good. But one outshines all the others. And there is motorhome parking at the castle by the sea plus the Feria ground in town. The town Fuengirola. Do it. You will not be disappointed. There is just so much. 2 parallel roads plus side streets and all the plazas. Incorporate Malaga and Marbs and you have a great night out and finish with Crispy Cod on the seafront.

Glad you enjoyed ‘our’ favourite restaurant in Ronda. We always go there as its great parking for motorbikes. Also recommend El Torcal. We went there in our large van and the road up is ok.

The fastest three quarters of an hour all week. Could watch you every night 😂😂😂. I’m with Charlie I don’t like bridges and narrow walkways especially if there is a steep drop over the side.
