The entire system is made to earn money rather than actually work towards increasing qualified dentists in the country. These are dentists with masters degree and years of experience who are been treated as if they know nothing about the profession. The system is not just unfair but it’s preposterous. A change needs to come.

This is all legit and should be listened to. How is an immigrant with no job supposed to come up with the money to take these tests? They are trained as dentists/lawyers/doctors/nurses.. but they come here from countries where a $1000 is a huge sum of money. So they work as taxi drivers and McDonalds employees and try to save up to take these tests. Rent/food/bills, combined with these low wages make saving for the test take years. In the mean time, ERs are closed due to nursing shortages and many towns have no doctor.
Find a better way. If they pass their tests, shorten the time till they can work, or at least make it no more burdensome than a Canadian fresh out of school would face. Provide loans or grants to speed up how long it takes them to have the funds to take their tests and begin to work the meaningful jobs we need them to work.

So she moved to South Africa so they could be together. It’s ridiculous especially since they both have extended family in the U.S. they would like to be close to and will now have to wait until he retires for them both to be together in Canada, if they even want to by then. You say it's easy but even the Canadian grads would fail these exams. It's like asking you to perform an amalgam filing with incomplete instrument, busted up high speed, 7 task in 8 hours while juggling 2 balls and jumping through a hoop. What kind of exam are those? It's easier just to study and go to school in Canada then take these exams. The public shouldn't even whine about doctor shortage of they are supporting NDEB and other regulations that are causing huge problems and obstacles for not only dentists but doctors to get their license here. You have no right to whine about doctor shortage if you are fine with how the regulatory body is making it basically impossible to get your license in 2 to 3 years.

So that's not a problem but the fact that these exams are prepared unprofessionally, registration is a big mess and seats fill up in 10 seconds because NDEB has no cap for how many applicants they approve is a huge problem. Also there other problems that causes any foreign professional to not look into Canada at all and go elsewhere, therefore doctor shortages. Please look at what causes this shortage, because it's artificial. How high are the standards of Canadian schools to schools like Oxford in UK? You really think Canada has higher standards in post secondary? Look at the chart for best schools and some schools like SFU end up 200 in world rankings. Don't think for a second that everyone comes here with fake degrees. I think we have to be aware that standards need to be maintained. I went to a foreign trained dentist and had issues with my crown he placed. Changed to a U of T trained dentist who figured out the crown messed up my bite and worsened my tmj. This dentist fixed my issue and provided a perfectly fitted crown. For me there should be a rigourous retraining process otherwise standards will not be maintained.

its fine if we have to give exams to get licensed but they ask us to re-enter dental schools (although we've already graduated) and pay over 500,000 dollars which we don't have and we're not eligible for federal student loans either and theres also only a few spots in the advance standing programs and SO many applicants have to keep waiting years to find a spot. so in the end you have millions of Doctors sitting at home in the usa who cant work at all while theres a huge demand for dentists in the country, its a dumb selfish way for CODA to make money off of already graduated professional doctors who're legally practicing in other countries. Its nothing but capitalist considering they do this for the money.

You guys keep harping about standards yet you forget the politics involved and the business NDEB has extracting money from foreign dentists and keep adding exams just so they can protect their own lucrative market. Remember that Canada keeps adding 500K immigrants every year and this doctor shortage, nurse shortage and even dentist shortage will get worst once the government assisted dental plan opens up and more professionals retire. Let that sink in before discriminating against foreign professionals. Conservative, or the act of prioritizing one's own needs and desires above those of others, can be harmful to a society for several reasons.
Firstly, Conservatism can lead to a lack of empathy and compassion for others. When individuals are primarily focused on their own well-being, they may be less likely to consider the needs and experiences of others. This can lead to a lack of concern for the well-being of marginalized or vulnerable communities, which can result in neglect and abuse. Furthermore, it can lead to a lack of understanding and tolerance for diverse perspectives and experiences, which can lead to discrimination and violence against marginalized groups.
Secondly, Conservatism can lead to a culture of competition and scarcity. When individuals are primarily focused on their own self-interest, they may be more likely to compete with others for limited resources, such as jobs, housing, and healthcare. This can lead to a cutthroat and violent environment where individuals will go to great lengths to get what they want, regardless of the consequences for others.
Thirdly Conservatism can lead to a lack of cooperation and collaboration. When individuals are primarily focused on their own self-interest, they may be less likely to work together with others to achieve common goals. This can lead to a lack of trust and cooperation among community members and a lack of progress on issues that require collective action.
Fourthly, Conservatism can lead to negative impact on the economy and society as a whole, when individuals are focused on their own self-interest, they may be less likely to invest in the common good, such as education, infrastructure, health care, and social welfare programs, which are essential for the well-being of society.
Lastly, Conservatism can lead to a lack of accountability. When individuals are primarily focused on their own self-interest, they may be less likely to take responsibility for their actions and the impact they have on others. This can lead to a lack of accountability for harmful behaviour and a lack of willingness to make amends for the harm caused.
In conclusion, Conservatism can be harmful to a society because it can lead to a lack of empathy, competition, cooperation, and accountability. It can result in neglect and abuse of marginalized communities, discrimination and violence, and a lack of progress on important issues, and negative impact on the economy and society as a whole. It is important for individuals and society as a whole to strive for a more compassionate, cooperative, and responsible way of living.
