I really like how you went through everything step by step. It is so annoying when people say "and take off this panel", without showing the intricacies of where the clips are and the best way to take off the panel. My only criticism is the choice of those rims...eesh.
I just got my 10th anniversary MT in last week. All I want to do is rub it with a diaper.
lmfaooo not the rims
Thanks for the vid. Just did it this morning. One tip….did the first side as you suggested and on the second side, didn’t bother taking out the door light…..just kept it in place and unplugged along with door and window connectors…..saved what was a bit of a tricky step
So OEM product speakers are lighter? Makes no sense to me as magnet size and weight usually impacts low frequencies. More mass is typically better. This is very odd to me.
yeah i was thinking the same thing, a big fat magnet on a sub makes it so much better. not sure how these speakers can be better when they have less overall capability than OEM
I feel the same way. Every high quality aftermarket speaker I've ever purchased has always been heavier due to the larger magnet on the back of the speaker. The one small glimpse I got of the back of the new speaker for the doors the magnet look extremely small. The ones in the dash were slightly larger, but not significantly. I may still go with a crutchfield purchased speaker set. Those they verify fitment and I think the quality will be much better. That being said, this video is still brilliant on the detailed process of removing the factory speakers.
The woofers are carbon fiber so maybe thats why they are lighter
Thanks for sharing. It looks easy to install. I definitely will be adding this to my GR 86. 👍🏻
That's cool John 👍 I wanna get the speakers but for now went with the amp
Legendary install 🙌 can we get the link to the speakers/tools?
I've always thought the speakers in the base model were crap. This mod is worth doing. PS Like the wheels.
Good video, thanks.
Can you made a video about yours carbon insert for inside consolle?
Can’t wait to see more! Hopefully, my GR86 will arrive to the dealership by the end of March. I noticed you have the carbon fiber AC vent covers? Do you have any other carbon fiber trim in your car? What brand do you have and what company did you order it from.? I’ve been looking at different prices from the brand OLM and Rexspeed and some other companies like Subispeed. I know I want real carbon fiber and the price is really expensive so I’m trying to find out where to get the best deal for it. I wanted to get several different carbon fiber pieces for my interior. It’ll be great if you can make a video review, if you get any more trim 😀
It’s worth the wait I promise! All of my carbon pieces are from Twins Carbon and I am really happy with them. I can make a video on it. They are all real carbon fiber overlays (not replacements) so they do not reduce weight but the look is authentic.
@@JohnHubz awesome! Thank you, sir!
I have not been able to find this upgrade kit to purchase.
Does the factory stereo drive the new speakers well? Or does it seem underpowered?
I think they work great with the factory system
Don't the premium have 8 speakers? So there's no speaker replacement for the rear?
i believe rear speakers will be released with sub addition.
Yea currently this kit only includes the 6 (for premium models). There are 2 more rear speakers that I hope are upgraded with the subwoofer kit.
hey thanks for posting this on YT! Did you mention this in another gr86/brz group? make sure you post your YT name in the forums, groups!
and subscribed!
No problem! I hope it can help others. I will be installing the oem subwoofer soon and making another video. I only posted in the one main BRZ/GR86 group but I’ll check some others. Thanks so much!
@@JohnHubz Just got my OEM Audio Plus speakers today! Installing them soon. Thanks!
Lil upset at Toyota not at least leaving the plugs for the front speakers in the base model 😭😭 I don’t like alcantara which is why I got it. Oh well I guess to less stuff to do🤷🏻♂️
Please rate on a 10-point scale, how much better is the sound quality compared to the standard ones?
A solid 8, I think the system could use a bit more bass, which is solved with either their subwoofer or another brand
Does anyone have a link to order this pack or does anyone know if it is available in Europe? Thanks!
Hello would this kit work for the BRZ premium as well? Thanks
so installing these improves the sound and everything right it just lacks bass? because i have separate subs and a amp ill be putting into my brz which is the same car practically just want to know that these speakers are worth it
Is it bad if I followed you and Subscribed after seeing the Carbon Fiber HVAC Ducts lol ... going back to watching this video now
I appreciate the love. They are from TwinsCarbon on IG
@@JohnHubz you Rock, thank you! Checking them out now!
@@CorporateGrunt gotchuuu. Btw I’m selling a brand new carbon fiber radio screen cover from them. I never installed it
@@JohnHubz Good to know! Question, how do you tell which of their parts are just overlays and which ones actually replace the piece of trim itself?
@@CorporateGrunt as far as I’m aware, all of them are overlays from that company
Why not just buy an Amp from beatsonic? I feel like you're wasting the perfectly decent speakers that come with the car.
How loud does it get 😅 like listening to pantera crank all the way up
I haven’t gone past maybe 26 on the volume knob, it gets crazy loud
Where did u purchase this upgrade?
Let's start a go fund me and get him a new hat.
you don't like my hat? 😂
you're my hero
Any link (reference) for ordering those OEM+speakers
It cost a fraction of the cost of these if you buy your own speakers. All brackets and adapters are available. You can do this upgrade for under $200 for better quality speakers
You keep telling yourself that, for 200? nah not even close/
Could you give an example of a parts list? I would love to do this cheaper if possible!
Ayyyy!!!
If you have the base model is there a way to install the tweeters? Some kind of kit to install the extra speakers?
I’m not sure. I would assume that you don’t have the wiring for the tweeters but you can check easily by pulling off the speaker grille piece
I have the base model too. Following incase you found the answer to this...
I checked the site they are back ordered for 60 days. Can you tell us how much you paid for yours? I might just go Crutchfield route.
I didn’t order rear speakers but the oem + kit was around $500 I think
you're about $1200 off @@JohnHubz
Can we hear what it sounds like?
Sure! I can do an exhaust video when the weather clears up
How to change speakers in the rear?
As of now, this would be a custom job. You can probably get a set of the dash speakers to work but honestly I don’t feel it’s a required upgrade
You’re my idol I love you so much
😘
Where did you hear about the subwoofer?
OEM Audio Plus notified me about their kit through email but I chose to purchase the OEM Toyota Sub and I will be making an install video of it next
Any Part- or Order#
I heard this guy breaks ktms

What's the deal with the speaker weight comparison? Please, stop doing dat, weight tells us NOTHING about speaker's sound quality or how loud it plays etc.
who doesn't like weight reduction?
The weight difference is absolutely a factor in my decision 🤷♂️
Many of the GR86/BRZ owners like to track their cars but also enjoy music when daily driving. These owners are concerned about weight reduction. In such a low HP car, all the weight reduction you can get makes a difference.
Lacks bass because the magnets weigh less in the main speakers. Yes, weight matters is speakers.
@@MachiavelliPWNSif weight is such a factor for you, uninstall all of the speakers, remove the sound deadening material, take out the passenger and back seats, and just let the engine noise be your stereo system. If you want to really make the car more nimble, buy some carbon fiber rims because unsprung weight is what really matters. Unless you are competitively racing the car, a few ounces doesn't matter when you drive around town from stoplight to stoplight.
