So cool to see your Radiohead journey. The rabbit hole is never ending. All their records are amazing IMO. Here are a few that I think you'll love The National Anthem, Where I End and You Begin, Weird Fishes... I mean, could go on for days.
One of my favourite songs by them.Fucking masterpiece.I would highly recommend checking out "Burn the witch" if you want some another unique radiohead song.
The song is about paranoia so you nailed it it's a great creepy song and it's placement on the record is essential. It's one of those album tracks that's way too good to be an album track, but the album is so great it ends up an album track so it's so unappreciated. You did a really great job breaking down the song, now comes the part where I have a small complaint. This song runs right into the next one which is a beautiful lullaby with devastating lyrics the two songs back to back are like a knife to the heart. I put Radiohead with the best bands of all-time. By the way the friend in the song is his insane paranoia that won't go away Thom worked in an insane asylum and wrote this song about the horrible paranoia of this poor guy and how he could be somewhat normal at times but it always came back like a bad friend.
Bro you should check out the album In Rainbows, weird fishes is epic
You are %100 right. Its not snooty at all. Clever, but not snooty. Personally i just want to share amazing music. It can be very technical. but in no way to rub it in.
Such a classic man!
Coldplay made a career out of ripping off obscure Radiohead b-sides, ripping the soul and balls out of them and turning them into pop songs...
Muse pretty much reworked Paranoid Android for 20 odd years but added glitter, make-up and lasers.
Thom Yorke, IMO, addressed this with the line " pale imitation, with the edges sawn off " in the Radiohead song 'Bodysnatchers'
They are an album band. You need to listen to them front to back to get the full experience
It’s always funny seeing explanations about the song in the comments as the first time I heard this song was when I had a reliance on alcohol. It resonated so completely with me in that sense that I actually got my addiction under control and yet everyone else just talks about paranoia/mental health in a generalized sense. Do you have to open your skull for those things or to physically consume something
I don't really know how you do things, but I can only recommend reacting to Radiohead's albums rather than individual songs. At some point you'll do No Surprises, for example, but it gains sooo much from following on from Climbing up the Walls (and CutW gains so much for preceeding No Surprises). The albums really are significantly more than the sum of their parts.
Best band of the last 30 years easily
You heard the special edition of "i" by Meshuggah? It's 21 minutes and bruuuuuutal [2014]
Good react brother, love this song. National Anthem is one my favorites, especially live.
Second the suggestion to do album reactions. It’s hard to pick individual songs, as the collection of songs cover so much sonic ground.
