I got a feeling that behind bonehead's laugh he's actually saying "okay that's enough noel"
I think Bonehead spent alot of time being the referee. He's a top bloke.
Boy Racer how do you know that?
Really? I got the exact oppisite impression
Outcast bullshit
Outcast I don’t think so
Tony is an average drummer and not as good as Alan White. However Tony's drumming style was perfect for Definitely Maybe, which is actually Oasis' best album in my opinion.
He’s still good though
@@Drumm3rB0y yeah i'd broadly agree. He wouldn't have done Morning Glory as much justice as Alan White but yeah, for the most part Tony was good enough.
Tony give more punkish of oasis meanwhile alan white giving more britpop(indies) but defintly maybe is fucking gold bro
I disagree. I think with a good drummer it would have catapulted definitely maybe from an outstanding album to something other worldly
Hehe Tony is my second cousin
I met Tony McCarroll a good few years ago. I didn't know who he was, he just gave me a lift as he was doing some part time driving for a utilities company I was doing some work for at the time. We got chatting as you do, and he told me he was first and foremost a musician and played the drums. I asked if he was in a band, he replied " not at the moment no". He said he fell out with one of the members of his previous band and was forced to leave. I ask a few more questions throughout the journey but it wasn't until we got to my drop of point when I asked " Oh by the way what was the name of the band you were in?" "Oasis" He came across as i very gentle sweet type of bloke. He obviously isn't an egotist like Noel Gallagher who comes across very badly in this video.
Excellent story Spencer. He definitely comes across well in the book. I prefered his drumming to White's which I always thought was a bit busy.
@@ac9110 LOL Do you hear yourself? McCarroll was decent but in no way should you compare him to White.. He is the one that set a standard and made the songs that much greater
Funny thing, I’m trucker down where I’m from in Texas and picked up some old hippie the other day. He said he was a musician as well, played guitar and sang. Said he once had a career as country singer. Turns out it was Andy Kaufman.
Should make a film on Tony, showing how it's the not how people say it is. I saw the doco Supersonic, and it looks to me like the rest of the band bullied Tony, even that prick of a studio manager in Wales wherever they were. Tony will have the last laugh I am sure
@@jonathankerr-smith8989 He should've had the last laugh but he gave away his performance royalties in that lawsuit. He was a mediocre drummer in an extraordinary band, it was only fair that he got sacked.
Noel gets his bullying from his father.
I agree, I see a quote from Noel that his father beat the talent into him. True, he also beat some of himself into him also.
Tony, if ye reading this yer great.
He isn’t. Ik it’s sad and he seems like a nice guy but he isn’t a good drummer. It’s sad that he had to go and did he deserve it? No, he didn’t but it had to be done
Tony is my second cousin 😂 not even lying
He matched the rest of the band.... none of them could play.....none of them were great.....they were shit ....that's what made them great.....
@@joehackney8110 He was part of their best album you cockwomble.
@@Lorenzo-cp7qs okay, that doesn’t make him good and it’s up to debate weather it’s their greatest album. Also childish insults just make your argument look even more redundant.
So Noel why don’t you play millions of scales in the guitar instead of playing that same Harrison based pentatonic over and over ?
Supersonic and Live Forever are the most iconic drum sounds Oasis have ever had. Simple but fitted the tracks so well. Well done Tony. Yes the mix and production really makes the drums shine out in them songs but the back bone is Tony
Bring it on down too
Songs that never sounded the same again. Be nice if noel had the guts to include Tony in any reunion tour they might have. He won't though. Doubt even if Alan will get the call tbh
@@bugsthompson he doesnt even want to go on tour with liam, and you think hes getting tony? 💀💀💀
Without Tony we wouldn’t have the early punk and heavy sounding Oasis we all love
It’s good to be free white room is one of the best performances the band ever gave
Noel is hardly Jimi Hendrix and I wonder if Noel has the balls to call Zak Starkey “a talentless monkey” to his face.
I remember Tony saying in an interview that he wasn't even the worst musician in oasis. They were all quite average but well drilled and together made something special. Guiggs barely played on def maybe because his recordings weren't deemed good enough but yeah yeah Tony is hopeless 😂
He's talking tongue in cheek about the monkeys.
Noels a propper ass and without that drummer they could never recapture that punk sound that was found on the debut album. It's funny how the band imploded on itself and all abecause of Noel and Liam. Noel was right sneaky, he made sure that he would have the power to sack any member of the band written into the contract and he wasn't the founder of the band. Rather, Noel was the last member to join to complete Oasis. I seems he always had an eye on going solo and that's how it all panned out.
100% truth and facts
@@theredqueen2283 How many songs did he copy too. They also had the same antichrist agenda as the Beatles. Song writing aided by demonic spirits as they were nothing but puppets for the devil. And they were bloody Irish not British.
well noel you already are in a dance band now. but yeah I still love you man.
Lmao
😂
Jajajaja right
Have you heard BLUE MOON RISING. NOEL HFB.
I SAID...WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT??!!!!🤦♂️
You should hear Tony speak about ‘bring it in down’ apparently Noel made him do the drum takes for that track for ages then went with the first take they did. Hes actually a very neat dude, I wish i really knew why Noel had it in for him for so long
Very harsh and cruel from Noel Gallagher here
@Michael Standing "He's an arsehole and will never change" - Signs Michael Standing, a fucking nobody from UA-cam.
aero and who the fuck are you?
Noel is a great singer and song writer, and occasionally quite funny, but he can be a bit of an asshole
Have to remember he went from dole to rock and roll royalty in the space of a year. If I had a microphone stuck in my face every other day, especially in my 20s I think I'd probabaly have come across as an arsehole occasionally too :/
@@ollyf5088 Finally, someone in this comment section not making Noel sound like Dr. Cortex.
Alan White us a good drummer but always thought Tony was hard done by, I like his drumming
I'm 40 year old grew up listening to all the early oasis tracks. I'm on a job at bolton hospital and tony is an air conditioning engineer and he's a top bloke. From an oasis fan. Tony is a good lad
Whatever Noel says, the original line up must have had something for Alan McGee to sign them.
He sign them because he heard Live Forever. Not really because of the band, but because of a song. He didn't even knew how talented Noel was as a songwriter. He just went with "that song might make me money".
@@akirafelix3865 that's not true at all
@@1dorz McGee said that in one of his interviews. Maybe is one of many lies he has told. But i'm fairly sure, since Noel said something very similar.
@@akirafelix3865 it's well known that McGee signed them on the spot after seeing them perform at King Tut's in Scotland. They didn't play Liver Forever at that gig. That's the story that's been told over and over again. Anything else is porky pies
I bet Noel ate his words when Whitey joined the band.
Yeah, Alan White on the drums made a HUGE difference to their sound.
Yeah.. Alan adviced Noel on tempo changes and fitted rythm tracks for his songs
Noel even said Alan White doesn’t know how good of a drummer he can be
@@Snipersounds White finished Oasis as a band........lost the rawness and turned their sound into shite maybe DEFINITELY!
@@owdladowdlad3889 not really shite. It's just different mate and it fits the album.
Guys, Noel is very obviously joking when he said drummers were smelly useless talentless loosers. I mean, he plays drums himself, and looks up to Ringo Starr as an idle for crying out loud.
Of course he is it’s his sense of humour
Didn't know Noel's 'idle' was Ringo Starr
Yup…I sold Noel a 1960s Gretsch set..in 2001…..and..some nice vintage cymbals too….

The thing is - Tony was absolutely not prepared for being in the biggest band in the world, but neither is anyone currently reading this comment.
Bonhead was unreal rythym guitarist

@@fortnitepros8025 It was his band wasn't it well his and Liams.
I don’t think Tony McCarroll would of decked Noel! And what is with you Tony fans ya so fucking weird?! Noel has made that curly haired turnip a rich man without Noel letting him drum on his songs which he should consider a fucking honour he would have nothing! Absolutely nothing! Not one member of the band is with him now which says it all! You people are simple people and don’t understand people like Noel that has depth and are loners at heart coz of what’s Ed upbringing they have had of just coz there on a crusade to show the world after being beaten around as a kid that he is somebody and he’s not gonna let anyone get in the way of his ambition. Lennon Cobain McCartney were the same. Geniuses like Noel are like that and you should be grateful for it as it’s his music you listen to you selfish plonker stain. This is why I love Noel ! He don’t suffer fools
@@dondamon4669 I’m sure he did have a tough childhood - as he’s said himself, so have many others. He a great songwriter (also helped on his way by Tony and the others getting him to join the band). Maybe in your opinion those things give a free pass to be a nasty bastard. Maybe in other people’s opinions they don’t. Opinions are like arseholes pal, we’ve all got one.
Without a drummer you don’t have a backbone
He was joking you twat
and you dont have bonehead
Noel just wanted Tony to be Oasis' Pete Best.
Good take.
Noel ain't exactly no Jonny Marr or Jonny squire he been done by the two Jonny's😂😂
It was funny, Noel came into liams band and slowly but surely removed everyone from the band.
And then painted the picture that Liam was the villain.
It’s funny having a modern perspective on narcissism and such and looking back on all this
I cannot agree with you more. I mean, if you hear the drums on live forever, its just impossible to say that Tony was a bad drummer. Maybe not the best in the world but definitely very good still. If youve been in a band together for so long, became massive out of nothing, there must be some brotherhood connection between you and one another. But Noel just slams him, like a high school bully. He was 28 at the time he sacked him. If youre still a bully by that age youre just not a nice person, from the inside out. I always looked at Liam as the villain too, but lately I realize that Liam is just messing around a bit being a bit arrogant. He performs for the NHS, at 1 love manchester, wished Tony a speedy recovery after his heart attack a month ago and all that, and Noel? None of this all. Noel doesnt even speak to his brother Paul apparently. Paul seems like one of the nicest brothers you can have. It becomes clear to me that Noel cares for himself only basically.
Noel does not come across as a particularly nice guy, especially in the earlier days of Oasis, and his treatment of Tony was bad. From Tony's book, it does seem that Noel was almost trying to get him to quit with all the bullying behaviour. Perhaps Tony did well to last as long as he did, as Noel was always going to get rid of him. Just a shame he had to be so nasty, as others here have said, he could have done it in a much more tactful way, but he wasn't really known for tact. Noel does come across as nasty and ruthless, by that point though he held all the cards. And I do think there is a large element of it being due to Noel having no faith in Tony's abilities for the 2nd record. Listening to his drumming on Definitely Maybe, and watching him live, it is difficult to imagine him playing anything other than the Stomping 4/4 beat which he did so well on the first album, but which wasn't going to work for the more intricate songs on the 2nd album. The bass player was an even more rudimentary musician than Tony, but the drums are so important as the backbone. I guess Tony could have practised and worked on his drumming, but I don't think Noel would have backed him to do that. It's just a shame Noel had to be so callous and couldn't appreciate Tony's role in the band up to that point (he was in it before Noel).
Wouldn’t have blamed Tony if he decked Noel
@@rampageclover9788 I think he threatened to, towards the end, and that basically sealed his fate - according to Tony's book.
Colin Macgregor that “drummers are losers” comment though. I’m amazed he didn’t get stick for that generally...
That drummer is shit. Beatles sacked a shit drummer, too. Bye, felicia.
@@jamesball5743 what iconic albums did you play on?
Noel Gallagher is a nasty piece of work. Liam seems alot more human these days and more likeable as he has gotten older.
Hey, he's had a childhood of being beaten by his own dad, you know! At least Noel doesn't get banned from airlines for life, put in prison cells, or kick and punch like Liam. Liam is a loose cannon, dude.
@@obd9660 I know right. Anytime I hear people say that I think...Noels never been arrested for physically assaulting people. There is no video footage of noel grabbing his girlfriend by the neck. Noels never been quoted saying he doesn't want anything to do with his daughters. I mean how exactly is Noel the "nasty" brother. Cause he says funny, admittedly sometimes insensitive things on occasion and only when prompted. I'd take someone making fun of me for comedic purposes vs someone actually meaning the insults they are throwing my way before swinging a guitar at my head, any day.
@@obd9660 I agree with alot of what you have said to be fair but alot of Liams dickhead behaviour came from years ago and i am referring to the Liam of recent. I always preferred Noel and like you, i thought Liam was a thug! In recent times both Liam and Noel have changed, one for the better and the other for the worst.
@@frfrbsb I am talking about both brothers in the present tense. Liam has been a nob but he seems a lot more mature these days, Noel on the other hand.
@@sentientexplorer how exactly has liam matured . Most of the things I mentioned have happened within the last 5 years. I'm sorry, the only thing that liam has learned is how to play the game better. Before if he physically hurt someone he would arrogantly say the other person deserved it and he was right to do what he did. Now he denies it and when shown video footage of the incident he remains silent and waits for people to forget . Noel on the other hand , is only kind of mean when he reacts to liam. Most other things people have an issue with him says are people over reacting or not understanding what he is a actually saying.
Tony is by far the most underrated oasis member.
Tony had feelings though
I wonder if Noel would have achieved any success if he hadn't joined Oasis, who were already a band, with Tony and the other founder members?!
He doesn't seen to think so

He's also on Some Might Say... the best song off Morning Glory

Well, Noel got his wish with the drum machines.
I think Noel plays the drums himself? Some of the early Noel Gallagher high flying bird demos I’ve been told it’s him playing the drums on those songs
The drums on Half The World Away are by Noel
Tony is better on the drums than Noel come on now
@@rizvanxd8724 and how he couldn't play Half The World Away? Isn't that one of the easiest songs ever? Noel isn't suposed to be a good drummer, he's suposed to be a good songwriter. Tony couldn't even do what he was suposed to do. A proper drummer.
@@akirafelix3865it was reported that Noel prohibits Tony from getting anywhere near the drums for that song.
tony was the backbone in the early days
Reminds me of the Pete Best situation slightly.
Oh yes.
I wonder why he didn't think to get drumming lessons or they didn't tell him to get lessons. It's best to keep practicing and keep trying don't let people get you down.
I can't remember where I read it...so I don't know if its true or not. But it said that they did get him lessons, tony just refused to go because he thought it was 1) insulting and 2) not needed. Hmmm, I've read and watched too many Oasis things to pin point where that info came from so you can decided whether a reliable source or not. Sorry.
Yeah it would’ve probably helped, and he did have the foundation’s to be really good, but I think his fate was sealed by then. A bit of an Alpha male vibe going on in the band, and he was an easy target. Got to feel for him, but at least he got to play on their Debut.
It’s a good point, I just think he was in a place where Noel was the dictator, and he probably couldn’t do anything right in Noel’s eyes by that point. Noel Gallagher is a great songwriter, but definitely hasn’t been the nicest of guys over the years. Never really had a lot of good to say about anyone, except the Beatles, Paul Weller and himself.
@@frfrbsb I do remember reading that. It might have been in Paul Gallagher’s book. Can’t have been easy also once they were touring relentlessly.
the only Oasis beats I can remember off the top of my head are Tony's beats, to be fair. Oasis had no rhythm after he left
I don't mind them sacking Tony actually if its due to musical reasons but the way they did it was very old-fashioned and kind of changed my view on Noel, He was no different to your average foreman at your worksite. Perhaps it's a cause of their low education level? No empathy skills whatsoever.
And the lack of support he got from the other guys ('part from Bonehead who didn't really have a say in the band's hierarchy) is shocking. No wonder Tony sued them later. They could've been like millions time nicer to him and still replace him.
ChainNonSmoker I agree👍🏻. You want to fired your band mates for not being good enough ? That's fine, just send him a proper farewell. If liam wasn't his brother I think he might even get fired as well
Tony did get treat like shit but he was still part of something big. Noel and Tony got on well when they were young but when Oasis were starting to become big relations were strained. Noel slammed Tony's drumming ability and said he wasn't good enough for a number one record. How wrong was he?
ChainNonSmoker he was treated like garbage in the band, but if he couldn’t play songs I could when I was 13 I don’t think he should be in a successful band
Vladislav The Poker I don’t think it was that, it’s because his voice was irreplaceable and he had the looks etc. I’d be like taking MJ out of the Jackson 5.
Anyone know what year that interview is from?
Just finished McCarrolls book Guigsy comes out of it even worse than Noel
Noel is good friends with Lars Ulrich of Metallica I wonder if he seen this lol Lars would probably laugh and agree anyway
Lars is shite

Noel isn’t the best in guitar either he fucking sucks to be fair he has no right to talk all that shit to tony first and for most
Bonehead looks terrified
Noel comes across as rude and arrogant here.
Funny how the main man now wasn't actually park of the founding members......only for tony there would be no Oasis...

Met Noel and Liam both in 1997. Noel was a complete bellend, full of his own self importance and arrogant. Contrast that with Liam who was a down to earth fella who gave a fan time. This interview just sums up Noel. Hope Tony is doing well. Oasis fans of old appreciate your contribution to the band.
Noel was extremely rude about drum machines… 😔
Noel said himself he's a control freak, they're the worst kinda people, horrible 😑 😒 😐
Loved to have seen him say that to Roger Taylor or Charlie Watts or Keith Moon....
You can tell the situation from how awkward bone heads laugh is...
I don’t think so. Bonehead looks like he’s having a good laugh
There's a freedom, atmosphere, and in the most positive sense, looseness, in that first album that the drumming contributes in equal parts to the other elements. He may have a point on the next album, but for me Noel just took more of that space, and while there is nothing wrong with Alan White's drumming, it was the start of the playing members of Oasis resembling a backing band. Hard to see Bonehead and Guigsy's musicianship being any less than McCarroll's also.
All of Oasis member was just an average musician, and thats include Noel. What makes Oasis good is Noel songwriting talent.
as a drummer i’m hurt 😔

The guy is a complete control freak and an asshole. Even Andy Bell didn't like him.
Whitey quits, not sacked.
I wish he'd say this to Billy Cobham haha. He'd snap him in half. There are some drummers that lack talent but overall it requires a lot of skill to play drums. Now strumming a few chords like that asswipe, how much talent does that require?
Funny how noel never talks about guiggs performance on that album. 🤔
This is why I hate Noel
Everyone is offended 😂 but hat doesn't mean that he was wrong.
If Oasis had of debuted any of they’re other albums they wouldn’t have even got a second album deal!
And if my sister had a dick she’d be my brother..

Tony and Steve Adler where the same. Yeah not as good as white and sorum but they had a griitenest to them. The songs played by the latter is good but missing that rawness to them. I'm not sure why bonehead laughing. He was a barre chord player exclusively. Still love the guy but c'mon ....
As someone who knows extremely little to nothing about drums can someone who does know about drums tell me why Tony wasn’t good enough and why Alan was allegedly so much better.
It has to do with the fact that Tony played pretty much the same beat on almost every song (kick, snare, kick-kick, snare) and didn't really do a lot of fills or intricate stuff like ghost notes, or even just used his toms more. Alan is just a more technically proficent drummer and his parts are really creative (Don't Look Back In Anger being the biggest example of this, another good example is his drumming in live versions of Champagne Supernova). Now don't get me wrong, I still very much like Tony's drumming and Alan's all the same, just for different reasons.
@@doctorrobert1339 it's coz Alan could keep time and Tony was a little lax in that department. Agree with everything else you said
Your opinion matters as much as the most experienced musician matty, chefs shouldnt make food for chefs!
Noel cant fight sleep ..she hes hsd his newtons done
No wonder he hates Phil Collins
Do you see the difference in Blur and Oasis? When one of the members on Blur was having mental problems Damon put the band on a 2 year brake until the member was better. Could you imagine Noel doing anything even remotely nice like that if one of oasis got sick. That's what you call friendship, apparently oasis were meant to be friends who grew up with each other.
Gene Krupa is laughing in his grave.
0:39 = Those types of nasty comments from Noel are as a result from all the horrific beatings his father used to inflict on him when he was young. I've heard him behave like that before, and it all stems back to the abuse he suffered. I guess he is just venting that inner malice the grew within him.
They had terrible teeth back then
that pretty much sums up what I think of Noel!!!......he's hasn't got a fucking clue and only ever ripped off the Beatles
Hahahaha poor Tony
Man I don’t care if this immensely mean, this is absolutely hilarious 🤣
It’s really not
The band is only as good as the drummer
I love Noel Gallagher and grew up with his music, still, Tony McCarrol contribution to Definitely Maybe is much more relavant than the invisible bass lines of a par time bass player like Guigsy and the useless melodies of Boneheads Barrè chords. I'm a huge Oasis fan, however, I also believe Oasis fans are not really able to really judge music talent (that's what I was before studying music for real). For the love of god, Oasis are not Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or the who, they lived years out of the success of 2 albums and their b-sides. To me, Tony McCarrol was more distinctive than the boring beat of Alan White.

What horrible mean spirited sod Gallagher is. Zero humility and nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.
Who is Noel Gallagher? His band sucked and with all that money, fix your teeth. Gross

I love ruthless Noel! It’s the same way way Lennon,McCartney,Jagger,Richards,Davies,Hendrix,Bowie,Dylan,Bolan,Armstrong,Springsteen ,Young, all are and proved to me his genius. All these songwriters would not let anyone stand in there way of what they wanted to unleash on the world so Noel having this personality trait as well is so interesting and anyway who likes someone who everyone loves! Everybody loves Raymond everybody loves Roman keating everybody loves Liam Gallagher
Noel ain’t in the league of jagger, Richards, Dylan etc , Definitely maybe was a great album the rest of his work is ordinary at best, Oasis got lucky and Liam was perfect as the bad boy who sold papers
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Beethoven, Bach, Wagner, Charlie Parker...
I don't think Tony McCarroll could have played Wonderwall for sure, He was alright on Definitely Maybe but there's no way he could have kept up with the later stuff, him and Zak (yes I know he's Ringo's boy, but he wasn't a good fit for Oasis) are my least favorite Oasis drummers, Chris Sharrock is my favorite.
He was a basic drummer who had the skills of someone who had been playing for a few years. Besides noel and liam now was irreplaceable
Ok Noel, why you didn't play the drums then? Even orangutans can Do it... You could play the drums on those albums. You could have played drums too when i saw you in '99. it wasn't going to be worse than what you did on guitar. The worst band i've seen live.
Morning glory was successful but does that make it "one of the best albums ever"? It's not even one of the best albums of the 90s.
