This lyric spoke to me. My drinking was starting to get a little out of control. Over a year
now, I am now dancing. I hope I will keep dancing for eternity. Thank you Elton, your music
    can change people lives.

I could listen to this over and over, incredibly beautiful but incredibly sad

"Oceans Away" stands with any song Elton has written. "The New Fever Waltz," almost as good, has a terrific melody in its verses particularly. You get the feeling that the long alliance of Elton and Bernie Taupin will keep turning out top-drawer songs until one of them is dead.

Scars show us where we have been, the strength we've built through the hard cutting times. They are a map to our future, survival, and memories always lived and remembered.

One of my favorite Eltons songs. The same as great as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Tiny Dancer, Your Song, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters.

@@chestnut9987 this song is rather more complex than gybr. This album is full of songs that grow on u.

I didn't think that after "Your song" or "border song" there was something better. Very inspired music. The world needs such melodies to be closer to God. And if global warming was due to a lack of spirituality ?

    Forgotten scars remind us of
Too much war, too little love
Beneath the fault-line truth to burn
Within the page so much to learn
    Wounded birds look to us
Who can heal? Who to trust
Bring down the giants old and new
Strike up the band and waltz on through
I was shaking with a fever
When the last good horse went down
We were just a couple dancing
Where a thousand kings were crowned
    Shaking with a fever
    Before the white flag flew
And the ballroom opened up to us
And the dancers danced on through
    Love in ruins, torn apart
    Victims of the careless heart
Skating on the cold grey ice
Before the flood toward the light
    Muddy boots to shiny shoes
    Headlines screaming out the news
From dirt and damp to hardwood floors
Beyond the burned out broken walls
I was shaking with a fever
When the last good horse went down
We were just a couple dancing
Where a thousand kings were crowned
    Shaking with a fever
    Before the white flag flew
And the ballroom opened up to us

I saw the WWI drama 1917 today. It made me think of the Elton and Bernie composition The New Fever Waltz which is on The Diving Board album. Like the movie, the lyrics is drawn from images of that war.

While I do prefer his earlier music better, his voice now though... his voice now is tranquility. I wish we could get his ballads instrumental.
