Your comments about Somewhere Beyond the Sea are really intriguing. I just got that one last month at a TJ Klune event (boy that was something indeed... and yes... he is FIRED UP!) Anyway, hopefully I get to it sooner than later, but I'm afraid many things will keep pushing it down the line...
Gotta love a sequel that's better than the first one! Sounds like you had a good month. I didn't love any of the books I read in September, but the one I liked best was Clytemnestra by Costanza Casati. Had higher hopes, but perhaps her second book Babylonia is better, I'm open to trying it! Let the deodorant people know they can send me that one. Thanks
“not enough blood” 😬 i should beware lol. Your vibe with books is kinda different than mine, but I’m aiming to read a variety. I keep putting off Under the Whispering Door, maybe I’ll pick it up soon!
This is an interesting range of books. So the different Klune vibe - darker? I'm still interested. I think my favorite September books were The History of Sound, My Friends, Convenience Store Woman and a reread of Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters.
Sounds like a great reading month for you! And a fun play & movie, too. I review TV and movies on my blog (as well as books), so I should add that to my channel! I've never read Peyton Place, but I'd love to - it's become such an integral part of our culture. I loved Somewhere Beyond the Sea - listened to both on audio in August (they're fabulous on audio!!). Hope you enjoy your October reading, too.
I just picked up Peyton Place and Return to Peyton Place at a used bookstore. Good to hear that you enjoyed it. I am also in the middle of the Southern Reach Trilogy. I have started Authority but it doesn't sound like it is very good. I have noticed it is slower than the first book but I'm going to give it chance seeing that you say the third book was better. My favorites from September were Watership Down by Richard Adams and God Help the Child by Toni Morrison.
I'm really curious about the new Sunset Boulevard production...I've seen Sunset Boulevard twice (once in London with Betty Buckley and once "accidentally"--long story--on tour with Petula Clark) and let's just say it's not my favorite musical, but what I've seen of this new production has left me intrigued!
"I don't know what's happening with this video" - me every time I make a video. 😅 I really need to read the Southern Reach Trilogy. It sounds very weird, and I love weird stuff.
How cool that you’ve read The Peyton Place sequel! I’m sorry that the Ursula K. LeGuin Earthsea series is turning out to be less than wonderful…That’s disappointing. T.J. Klune is definitely on my radar…All in all, though, it sounds like a very good month. 😊
@@mildrumpus have you had any time to explore any of the old TV series episodes? They have an incredible cast….Oh, tomorrow, my “Beautiful Books” video will post. You’re mentioned, of course. 😊

Ohmygosh I’ve never seen Sunset Boulevard!! Searching for tix now…

I totally agree that the second book of the Southern Reach trilogy is lackluster at best. Glad I'm not alone! Great wrap-up video!
Thanks for watching! 😎📚👍
I enjoy the occasional theatre/arts review; keep 'em coming:)
Oh, and I'm eagerly anticipating those deodorants...
@@KatJack-vl8xj I’m ready for my close up… 😵💫

Enjoyable video. Glad you had a good reading month!

I have yet to read T.J. Klune. I have heard lots of people say good things about his books 😊
@@stuartgriffin1001 I’ve only read these two by him. “The House in the Cerulean Sea” was a real joy to read.
Because I KNOW you'll get the joke...trying for David Lynch dancing fingers there at the end, were we?
😂😂😂

@@mildrumpus I thought I would struggle with this one, and I ended up having a wonderful time. Hope you enjoy it.
I've read _The Streets of Laredo!_ 😅
Is that TJ Klune book a sequel or a standalone? Fighting for rights is something i could do with reading about this month.
@@CamsCampbellReads it’s a sequel, but I think you could still read it and be able to follow the storyline without having read the first book.
@@mildrumpus Cool. Thanks MR.
Somewhere beyond the sea is different? Good different or bad different?
@@Already-Overbooked “Cerulean Sea” is about hugging it out. “Somewhere Beyond the Sea” is about standing up and fighting for your rights.

@@mildrumpus definitely will! If I enjoy it like the first I will definitely make a video
