    Thank you for posting this. It helped me out GREATLY on an R&R job I did yesterday. Might I suggest that removing the engine oil filter mount makes it so much easier to reach the flywheel bolts through the starter opening from underneath. Makes it just a straight reach.

    Man your video saved my ass, me and my buddy just removed the transmission from a 2014 Fusion on jack stands like peasants, without a transmission jack. We unbolted the subframe more than you did so we have to line it all back up but I think we should be good. Thank you from two guys in Northern California

      @@yvesjules3910 Hey real quick, we reinstalled a different transmission and it will not drive still. It hesitates to shift into any gears, and it also slams into gears but will not move under its own power. Any idea what we can try? It is possible that the transmission we swapped in was not good either. Any clue?
      Once you swapped the one in, in the video, did it drive on its own or did you have to do anything extra?

      @@SunderlandMorrow first make sure it's enough trans fluid in there. After that you have to perform the adaptive learning reset procedure on the transmission. Type it in Google and it'll walk you through on how to do it.

    I rebuilt mine instead of replacing it.
    its not hard to rebuild it. this was my first transmission rebuild and its actually easier than rebuilding an engine. some people are afraid of loosing the check valve balls when they're a dime a dozen.
    i got the dealer manual on ebay for $8. exceptionally well worth the cost.
    the forward piston shredded on mine and i lost forward. also had a couple chunks of the retaining ring portion of the case break off. a friend welded them back on. replaced all clutch packs, steels, bearing, seals, and sensors.
    checked all solenoid valves to be within spec resistance and fully functional when powered. couldn't do a pressure test on them.
    its basically a brand new transmission instead of buying a salvage yard mystery box. much better off rebuilding

    Hey I’m putting a new 6f35 in my fusion, just not sure about the programming the trans to the car afterwards. Manual doesn’t say anything about reprogramming but Ford says it needs to be done. What do u think?

    • @YouTubehndl
      @YouTubehndl 2 роки тому +1

      You need to at minimum do a transmission relearn. I had a used 6f35 put in my 16 Fusion with the 2.5 and had to have a buddy at a shop loan me his scan tool for 2 minutes to do the procedure. He actually didn’t know his Snap-On scan tool could do that. I’ve found a lot of mechanics don’t know how easy to use and powerful those computers are. (Edit: if you use All Data DIY it gives you a procedure for solenoid body replacement and transmission relearn procedure).

    11:42 That's a sway bar link....Great video, and a reminder to drain and fill with fresh LV transmission fluid every 20K miles. The reason being that you'll only get 4 to 4 1/2 quarts drained out of the 9 quarts of total capacity, keeping it fresh. Another reason is that the 6F35 has an internal filter that requires this removal job and splitting of the case to replace.

    When you put it all back together did you struggle with the subframe going back in it’s place? I had to do Mine on jack stands and after a few jacks the subframe stops moving and the whole car is going up. Nothing seems to be caught on anything do you have any ideas what it could be?

    • @JuanGarcia-gj5fz
      @JuanGarcia-gj5fz 2 роки тому +1

      I'm in the same situation. As long as the car is lifted high enough, maybe 24 under the subframe should be plenty👍

    • @YouTubehndl
      @YouTubehndl 2 роки тому +2

      @@JuanGarcia-gj5fz I ended up being able to do it. Realigning the subframe was a bitch though. If I pulled off the front bumper I could’ve gotten the transmission out entirely

    • @YouTubehndl
      @YouTubehndl Рік тому

      @@Jomamah it doesn’t. I removed the subframe entirely while the car was on jack stands using 2 jacks at the same time to lower it then move it away from the car. Then I used a transmission Jack to lower the transmission to the ground. If I needed to replace the transmission then I would’ve removed the front bumper to have clearance, but in my case I just replaced the flywheel. Please note, this is not for the feint of heart. It’s a very dangerous operation on jack stands and I don’t recommend doing the jack stand method. Knowing what I know now it’s better if you can rent a mechanic booth. There’s one in my area that I go to called DIY or Die Techshop

    • @YouTubehndl
      @YouTubehndl Рік тому

      @@Jomamah Removing the bumper and driver’s side wheel well liner should do the trick to get it out from that wheel well. When the car is up in the air it’s easier to drop the subframe just from the front because you have all that maneuverability with a tall transmission jack. On the ground with jack stands is a whole different beast. I just said the warning about it being dangerous with jack stands because you could potentially move the car while you’re under there with a jack lifting the subframe and/or transmission causing it to fall. Also make sure you replace the large subframe bolts you remove as well as the ball joint pinch bolts/nuts and the steering column bolt. These are torque to yield bolts that can only be used once. Refer to a factory service manual or All Data DIY for specifics. It sounds like you’re very experienced working on cars so you won’t get yourself into trouble there. Another tip about reinstalling the transmission is to make sure the torque converter spins freely while you’re tightening the torque converter nuts. As you’re getting the first one torqued down if you hear a nice ting ting sound where the torque converter studs are freely rattling around inside the flex plate holes you’re good. If not you need to remove the transmission and remove the torque converter and reinstall it

    • @YouTubehndl
      @YouTubehndl Рік тому

      @@Jomamah exactly it’s about space when you’re working on the floor. Make sure you hear the ting ting sound when you’re rotating the crank. From what the dealership techs told me that sound is very important because if it doesn’t make that sound the torque converter isn’t seated properly and the car will not move. You do need to replace the bolts on the subframe and stuff because torque to yield (TYY) bolts are one time use. When you torque then down they stretch to make a secure hold. It’s VERY important to replace them. It even says that in the service manuals. I think it’s the rear subframe bolts that get torqued to 180 then turned another 3/4 of a turn tighter. It’s not worth your safety for $30 in bolts dude.

      If it's thet transmission. I purchased a used one at the junkyard that had less than 30k miles on it for $350 and car has been running good every since.

      3 hours to take out transmission. Would've been quicker if I hadn't filmed

      Because of filming it took 7 hours. If I didn't film I could've done it in 5 hours or less. Thanks for watching

    Hey so how long did this take to remove and install the new one ? Two days ? One day? Doesn't really look like a huge job

    • @yvesjules3910

      This job took me 2 days because I was recording and had to work. If I didn't record or didn't have to go to work I could get this job done in less than 6-7 hours

    Just can’t believe Ford has not figured out how to make transmissions. It’s a shame and that’s why after being a long time Ford family (since the 70s) we had to go with Toyota. Come on Ford fix your problems. this not acceptable. Transmissions issues that date back to the 80? Wow.
