I thought I should view a vid before changing the plugs as things have changed from the days of the cast iron v8's. You did a very nice job. The engine layout looks the same as my 2019 Escape S 2.5L as I expected. Thank you.
I just got quoted $500 from Ford dealership. I've been taking it up for months because the check engine light keeps coming on. They have changed 4 different things and they were covered by the warranty. Today, he says that all my spark plugs are bad and it'll be $500 to replace. I took it in because the code said the o2 sensor is bad. Ford are crooks. Plain and simple
@@michellebao7234 that's crazy. That motor has the spark plugs right on top of the motor. They aren't that hard to change. If you know someone mechanically inclined, get them to do it. Especially if your car isn't still under any warranty
Not sure why people are ragging on him for telling people where to be careful that’s just being a good teacher, if im learning about something tell me everything sometimes it seems like common sense to everyone because they already have experience with it but some people wouldnt cross their mind to be extra careful just tighten that bitch down and go, thanks for the informative video, sub earned
First, thank you for the time you took in making this video. It’s an incredible aid to those of us who want to do as much on our cars as possible. I have a question I haven’t seen in the thread. What is your take on those who teach, with spark plugs today plated in Zinc or Nickel, the use of anti-seize is no longer necessary and can actually damage by causing over torquing. Would welcome feedback.
Thank you, I thought the price ford was charging was insane. Charge shows it would be $471.48, yet on rock auto one spark plug is between $2-$9. So I would need 4 spark plugs total? Are there other spark plugs on car that need replacing w/ the 100K mileage maintenance? Thanks for helping with this :)
I have the correct socket but the area where the cylinders are located makes it impossible to even use an extension to reach the spark plug. I’d like to send either a video or pick for further explanation.
For my sister it would cost almost $600 at a Ford specialization auto shop so we will probably just buy the spark plugs and get then replaced by a friend mechanic. Also if the Ford Fusion engine shakes when idling is it because the spark plugs need to be replaced because the spark plugs aren't inviting properly. Like the engine starts and everything but when it begins to idle the engine starts making puttering noises and shakes a little. Like the engine wants to start running normally but possibly the old spark plugs need to be replaced because they are not properly igniting.
Sometimes it can be some gunk built up in your fuel injectors too. There is an additive you can put in your fuel tank to help clean them out too and it’s very affordable (and at Napa). I had your exact same issue and it worked like a charm.
@@2carpros Thanks, had a shop change the plugs, replace the valve cover gasket, replace two mounts and Headlamp bulbs. I furnished the plugs and bulbs $660.00!
I am glad how you stressed about being genital with the porcelain on the plug, I had a 1982 chevy truck that when I changed the plugs I would buy a couple of extra because it was almost impossible to change with out breaking one, you could feel them pop!!
1 thing he didn't mention, make sure u do all of them, if 1 Was messed up chances are theyll all follow just save urself in the long run and do all at the same time.
I say carefully because otherwise people grab a 2 foot long breaker bar to change their plugs and blame me for not telling them its kinda delicate. But if you have even a modicum of common sense you will be fine. Thanks for watching!
Bought a 99 sunfire back 20 years ago, someone used power tools to put in sparkplugs. One day it rough idled, so i goto replace all plugs with my socket wrench and theres cracked porcelain, bottom half of plug was over drilled into engine and i broke the plug just under socket part. Dealership said if theyd done the job, i would have gotten a new engine for free, but i wasnt that lucky.
2014 is totally different and requires every special tolls from ford olny, yours coils olny 1 screws 2014 2 screws and coils are longer and bends, it's no way you do it with the tolls. Thank for sowing 2013 models olny
Bro. Autoshop quoted $600 for plugs on my 4cy. Fusion. $45 and 45 minutes later. Runs like new. Thanks 4 the video
600?! Holy moly! Nice job saving that cash! Thanks for watching!
Whaaaaat!?!? 600 bucks!?!? What were their spark plugs made of? Gold!? Holy mackerel! 😲

I love this video. Im leaving this here for future notes. I need to replace my spark plugs and now I know
Just got quoted $710 to replace spark plugs and air filters. From the Ford dealership. They really think people are that stupid
Wow! Maybe on a V8??? Not a top oriented 4 cylinder!!
I literally was almost this stupid today...

Exactly same here not even from dealership, just from some random body shop

I wonder why do you use grease or these other cream looking items? I’m very curious and would like a better understanding on their usage!
I ts like lube for it
High Temperature Anti-seize
Anti seize on threads. Dielectric grease for keeping connections corrosion free and water out.
What should the spark plug gap be for the 1.6 engine? Please tell me it’s the same as the 2.5 😩
Will these spark plugs you have linked work for 2.0 liter?
I got a quote from my local lincoln dealership to replace the plugs on my twenty sixteen ford fusion s... $440.😮

That is steep for this job. It's pretty easy. Nope you just need the 4. Thanks for watching!
Learn to replace these yourself people. Every mechanic shop will rip you off for repairs. This is a 20 minute job. It shouldn't cost more than $100.
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
Same for the Hybrid Models?
Very similar. I did them on my 13 and 19 hybrid fusions.
What is the size of the spark plugs key
Do you need to put gap on iridium spark plugs?
These where miss gapped so I'd check them. Thanks for watching!
Always check them!!, they might have been dropped during shipment!

Yeah very possibly they spark plugs aren't firing right. Swap them for a fresh set! Thanks for watching!

Excellent tutorial!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wich length of extension is needed to reach the spark? 🙏🏻
6 inch, have you noticed that this UA-cam expert does not reply?
5/8 where? My 2017 Fusion SE needs a size 14mm to get these plugs out.
That's strange. Spark plugs are almost always American 5/8 or 9/16. Maybe there is some slop if using a 15mm or something? Thanks for watching!
@2carpros I have to agree. I'm in Canada and it's still an SAE size not metric.
great job! very clear video
good job!
from Vietnam.
Thanks for watching!
I have a question is there an engine cover to hide all those cables and stuff for this car
Not when I got to it. Thanks for watching!
Uh,Oh, Mine has oil in the spark plug well, Do I need to change the valve cover gasket first??
Yep. It will leak out from the seal and fill the sparkplug well. Thanks for watching!

Tube seals were leaking.

Always be genital with the porcelain plug!
Gentle, not Genital.
Genital is a reproductive organ.

Well yeah, I said to do the same thing for all the plugs if they are like that. Thanks for watching!
The number of times you said carefully makes me feel no one should do this on their own and instead just take it to a garage
