Parsley Harvesting | Ploeger MKC-2TR container mower | Peterselie maaien loonbedrijf Maverko

Peterselie maaien met de nieuwe Ploeger MKC-2TR zelfrijdende containermaaier van loonbedrijf Maverko uit Prinsenbeek. De machine heeft een maaibord van 6,5 meter werkbreedte en onder het maaibord draait een klepelas, waarmee het overblijvende gewas net boven de grond wordt opgeruimd zodat het gewas gelijkmatig kan hergroeien. De containers worden met een Mercedes Actros truck van transportbedrijf Goorden uit Wouw naar kruidenverwerker VNK Herbs in Biddinghuizen vervoerd waar de peterselie gevriesdroogd wordt en verwerkt voor verkoop.
Mowing parsley using a brand-new Ploeger MKC-2TR self-propelled container mower for herbaceous plants from contractor Maverko of Prinsenbeek, The Netherlands. The machine is equipped with 6,5 meter wide header, under the header takes a haulm topper the remaining leaves so that the plants can regrow evenly. The containers with parsley are transported within a hour to a herb processor where they are freeze-dried and processed for sale the same day.

First time watching this. Amazed at how Parsley is harvested so economically in the Netherlands. As for the harvester, Ploeger have fused a combine, forage harvester and trash compaction truck together to glorious effect. Really impressive engineering.

A question pop into my mind: this mower is used to reduce soil compaction (large tracks and wider wheels). Since some parsley plants are going to be "compressed" anyway, what will be the loss of production on the second cut in terms of percentage of the first cut?

Compressed soil doesn't allow water percolation. Prevents root growth. Reduces oxygen intake. All adversely affect plant growth.

I've had definite compaction issues. Last July the largest wildfire in California history burned on our ranch for 5 days and made heavily toxic air for 5 weeks. Usually couldn't see 300 yards, but at one point I was racing ahead of 2 fire trucks, opening gates, pulling 3 inch irrigation line apart and out of the way. Those trucks, on hard, cracked soil sank at least 3 inches and the growth was inhibited there.
