Christine, my wife and i did thr homework and got our passports last year. This year for xmas i booked my wife and I our first trip and choose this as our destination. Cant wait to give her this gift!
Hi The Nasty Nelly! I actually did this video just prior to it opening so I haven't seen what the seaweed is like or the chair saving situation. I will say that the chair fight usually varies with hotel guests week to week, so you never quite know if you have to get up at 6am or can sleep until 10 & still get a seat!
Hello! I made this video before the resort opened, so I'm not 100% sure, but I will say that every other Sunscape I've been to has drink menus to at least give you an idea of what types of drinks they can mix up!
Just looking at this hotel for the 4 of us 2 adults 2 kids and I'm really struggling to understand the room choice they are trying to allocate us "Deluxe double or twin"? How would that sleep 4 🤔 even upgrading to swim up junior suite I can't see how many beds this actually has
Hi Toni! How old are the kids? Most of the rooms are 2 Double beds or 1 King. Yes, you can technically sleep 2 people in a double bed but it's never going to be comfortable unless everyone's tiny. Your best bet is to book the Deluxe Family Suite - it's got a king bed & is connected to a room with 2 double beds with one bathroom total for all to share. If you upgrade to the Sun Club Family Suite, it has 3 beds plus a sofa bed and has 2 bathrooms, so that might be easier for all of you to share but the price is probably a lot more.
There are so many positive yet negative reviews I am finding online, so I am pretty nervous to attend this place in March. I would like to ask if you know how much the upgrade to the SunClub would be, and where I could find more information on excursions that are relatively close to the resort. Thank you!
Hi Suzie! When you reserved your room, you would have had the option to upgrade to SunClub. You would need to check your reservation and inquire with whomever you booked the trip with to find out if you can upgrade and if so, what the cost would be. I would suggest joining one of the facebook groups to find out more about excursions - here's a link to one that is actually run by a woman who works for a tour company there. facebook.com/groups/1109095627114609
Have you seen any renderings of what the kids "splash" park consists of? Family of 6, been looking at various dreams properties in mexico and D.R. how do you think the food will be here?
Hi Mike! No I haven't seen renderings of the splash park but I expect it would be that fairly basic concept of kiddie slides and climbing zoo, along with one of those buckets that fills up and eventually flips over and splashes the kids. Nothing too exotic, but the kids seem to love it. I think the food will be okay here but with more of a budget approach to things. Still going to be solid quality ingredients - just not the premium cuts of steak, etc, that you might see at Dreams.
@@cbear2490 hi CBear! Well I take all reviews with a grain of salt. Been at new resorts where people were complaining nowhere to eat in the afternoon, no evening entertainment and it was all fake news. I haven’t been there since opening so I can’t confirm but would suggest to check out more YT videos to get a better sense of the status of things.
Thanks for the great review. I am going in June. We booked SunClub family double rooms. I didn't know it was on the other side of the resort from the adults only section. Will we be able to go to the adults only side and lounge with our sun club family booking? We are all adults. Never been to one where there was two areas.
Hi Jessica! Yeah the SunClub Family rooms would be more in the family section as this would normally be used for a family with kids but the layout of the resort looks pretty decent so it shouldn't be too far to get over to the adult pool - there's always shortcuts through these places! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of the resort and the SunClub! Thanks for watching!
The resort emailed me back and said we cannot use the Adults only areas only the sun club family lounges/pools and the main area of the resort. I just want to know if we will wish we just did the regular rooms by the main pool area instead of the sun club family area. Can you give any recommendations about this?@@ChristineTurner
@@jessicabarto3292 Wait - so you're saying that you've booked a Premium room and you can use the Premium Family pool but not the Adult only pool for everyone? That makes zero sense. I'm thinking it may be a lost-in-translation moment? I've never ever seen a resort that would restrict access for guests in upgraded rooms. This would be a first!!
Hi Barbara! No it’s a takeover from one of the BeLive resorts. They’ve done some renovations to match the style and colouring of a Sunscape but no major changes.
Hi Jose! Yes - according to the resort fact sheets, it is included. I will say that I have seen a few notes elsewhere that contradict this, but the standard for all Sunscape properties is to include the wifi, so I'd be very surprised if they didn't.
Hi Elaine! Unless you go to a reef on a tour, the beaches in Punta Cana are great for swimming but you won't likely see much in terms of fish when you snorkel. The beach is nice but the fish tend to spend more time around rocky areas and coral, where they can feed. If you can, I'd highly recommend a tour to Saona Island. It's a full day trip as it's way down south, but the water is spectacularly clear and the beaches are eye-candy. Great snorkeling too!
I heard staff breaks into the safes and steals peoples money, they have code scanners, this wasn't my choice in resort and I have many concerns and trying to prepare for what is ahead...
Hi Holly! You have to book this specific room category. You can not sign up for it like a membership program - it's only to do with the type of room you book.
Thanks for the review, Christine! I'm booked for new year's as a solo traveller, have two questiona: 1. Would I need to make a booking for the night club for the 31st? 2. If I'm hungry later at night, is there a cafe/late night eating option here? Thanks!
Hi Raoul! The disco doesn't require reservations unless they are planning a special event - you'd have to contact the resort directly to find out if they Activities Team has something planned. The Coco Cafe is open 24/7, so you can always grab a snack from there! Thanks for watching!
Hi Deborah! No not yet! I've been to Punta Cana several times but this resort just opened. I'm trying to connect with someone down there to do another video to show everyone what things are like - stay tuned!
@@deborahdunmall66 Well budget friendly & star ratings are all subjective - I actually did a video today about how star ratings are just made up by the resorts! For a week, package prices are coming up
Hi DebnDan! Yes, I’ve found that any resort can get bad when it’s open for short term visitors, such as cruise ship day passes. You are correct though - it is a renovated Belive.
Hi Sunshine! Smoking is restricted to certain areas. I did this video before the resort opened, so I don't know if they allow Hookah smoking or not. My guess is that they wouldn't because most places are removing smoking areas.
Very misleading title. This is not a brand new resort. It was called 'Be Live' before the re-brand. We spent 2 weeks here in September. It was not that good Very mediocre!
Hi Tim! True enough - I didn't know this was a refurb until after (I did the video based on the announcement of it opening, so there wasn't tons of info). Sunscape is a pretty basic brand but yeah, I've heard that they need to work on a few things!
Super informative! Have a great day :)

Is this a rebranded hotel or a new build? look like it the Be Live resort
Hi Murminator! Bingo! You are correct - it was formerly a Be Live resort and was renovated to be a Sunscape. Thanks for watching!
It's rebrand, it's not new.
