I miss the arcade, the sounds, light and excitement. Our world has turned into a dead mall and zombies lost in supermarkets 😏
If you get a raspberry pi 4 amd a retro pi for like 60 maybe 70 bucks you can have all of it.
Or install RetroArch emulator
@@JoHnAnDjAnEdOe81I have that and way more. It's just not the same. If you lived it, you would know.
It's what you make it. I found that when I limit my phone time per day the colors of life can start to get more vibrant.
TMNT & The Simpsons was a matter of pride and bragging rights beating the game from start to finish on just a quarter. The camaraderie of having other players join in on the fun was just priceless.
I am a boat Captain and my time spent playing Astroids has contributed more to my success in this job than the time I spent in school, the spaceship handled just like a boat!
Once i heard how he pronounced "mario" like my mother used to i could not take this list serious!
WatchMojo is more of a joke than Konami
You and skyreeXScalaber both sound like you’re super gay.
That's how my dad would say it and he was an og arcade player. Why does it even matter how its pronounced?
The Japanese, who created the game , have their own spin on the pronunciation of the name Mario.
Star Wars Triology Arcade, Simpsons, Street Fighter 2, Ms Pac-Man, Galaga, TMNT in Time, and Time Crisis were my faves in the day. Still are.
Holy crap, those R my favourite games growing up. If U add Afterburner 1 and 2, Cruisen USA, Sega's Escape Jurassic Park and Dragonslayer, I will be in games heaven lol.
SW trilogy, TIme Crisis 2, and Street Fighter 2 were my go to games.
Mortal Kombat , NBA JAM, and Crusin' USA were my go to games at the arcade along with the Simpsons and TMNT games
+1
And Afterburner
that was in the 90's
Crazy taxi house of the dead the 90s star wars arcade game the jurassic park light gun games were my personal favorites.
Simpsons arcade was great if you had 4 players.
Pole position was one of my favorites.
Strong list. You missed some but the ones you have are very deserving. Played all of them many times. Your honorable mention list could be 50 games long and still not make everyone happy.
i agree.
Missle Command is cool a sort off Space Invaders but different or Galaga. All 3 are fine i would add Berzerk to the list as legend games go played them all with Pac-man.Saw Killer Instinct u had Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat u could throw Tekken in that aswell
Defender and Phoenix......Classics!
Scramble?
Not sure how they could have left out Defender. Every serious gamer played it. Robotron was revolutionary with two joy sticks. Gyruss was one of my favs also.
amen Williams Defender the best game
That's right Phoenix
*_JOUST!_*
Parzival and defender
Parzival it’s a shame that none of the Williams games made it. Defender, Stargate, Robotron. Sinister & Joust are all classics!!!
No shit! Joust was even in the book “Ready Player One” as one of the challenges. (Not the movie)
I spent so much paper route money on Joust before I beat it
Tempest , Dig Dug ,, Tron ,centipede , pacman should be #1
Punch out
Missle command
Centipede should have been in there
dont forget pacman
"Centipede" was put to shame
by its short-lived sequel "Millipede".
@@laustcawz2089 I bought the Centipede partycade, and I found that Millipede has a lot more variety than Centipede, but it's also much more difficult. Still glad I have both in my man-cave :)
@@longWriter
A good video game
should be challenging & exciting,,
rather than boring & predictable.
Just as "Centipede" got "Millipede",
"Asteroids" got "Blasteroids",
again, a major improvement.
yes. those were the classics.
I was an arcade video tech 1999 to 2003 and I say ms.pac #1 with speed mod and galaga with rapid fire mod, that was most popular sold where I worked. For pinball machines it was Addams family #1.
I wasn't much of a PacMan, but Galaga, The Addams Family along with Dragonslayer and Afterburner 1 and 2 was always busy in my neighbourhood.
2:35 “Eat the fly. EAT THE FLY!!!”
This makes me wanna watch that episode!
back when getting the high score WAS your achievement!
Mine, in no particular order, would be: Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Punch-out!, NBA Jam, Dragon’s Lair, Galaxian, Star Wars original, Star Wars Trilogy, Pole Position, and Missile Command.
I always liked the less popular games like Gorf, Hat Trick, Elevator Action, and my favorite, Bosconian.

I think Dragon’s Lair was the 80’s version of arcade clickbait
And a quarter eater.....
That damned game!!
@@stevenwheat3621 Yea but if you had that one friend that was really good at it, you could all gather around and watch the story and learn from him.
"Dirk The Daring"!!!
Lol!!!
I honestly don't believe you knew about Dragon's Lair until you saw Stranger Things season 2

Those of us who were
around in the early '80s
& played any arcade games
aren't likely to ever forget it.
“Do you have Asteroids?” “No, but my Dad does. Some days he can’t even sit down.”
My dad said peoples minds were blown when they realized it was usually easier to stay still and just shoot what comes towards you lol people use to just fly around recklessly and kill themselves. He also said asteroids donkey kong and pacman would always be full when they first came out and they'd have to empty them all the time
Where du you come uo with this shit?
@@joeywalker2061asteroids deluxe was better but blasteroids better than both. All good in their own ways. The shield in deluxe corrected the one flaw in asteroids hyperspace feature. Poor design almost made the feature useless.
Where's double dragon*"!?👍
Karl Burnett hey I like final fight and Streets of Rage and dinosaurs and Cadillacs,, and virtual Fighter,
Its in honourable mentions at end. ua-cam.com/video/8RkX8TYobHs/v-deo.html
On the double....
Manual Villacana thank you
I have double dragon 2 got it for 300 had to put in alot to get it running but it works now looking for 1 and 3
At the arcades I used to play Donkey Kong like crazy, but bubble bobble was my fav and still is =D
Wow... I fell in love with Bubble Bobble but only saw it at 1 arcade ever back in the mid-1980's... didn't get to play it for like 15 years until I installed MAME... then got to play it again several times at Galloping Ghost. What a great game!
As soon as this video started, it had the Bubble Bobble music in the background and I was shocked anyone even knew of the game... then saw it get some love in the introduction.
I loved the game, but damn was it hard as hell at higher levels.
6:37 "Merry-oh" who's that?
1. Missile Command
2. Zaxxon
3. Centipede
4. Track & Field
5. Afterburner
Missile Command, the sound heard entering every Arcade in the 80's.
Ahhh Missile Command!! I loved it so much in the 80s I bought a full arcade game of it, then Gorf, Battlezone, Asteroids, Pacman, Mario Bros, and an obscure one called Pleiades. Good times I'm telling you!!!
"Zaxxon" was AWESOME!!!
"Track & Field".... They used to call those games, "Button Smashers"
@@Tony-Plinkett
Hadn't head that term,
but certainly appropriate.
1. Galaga
2. Tron
3. Robotron 2084
4. Mr. Do!
5. Ms. Pacman
6. Burger Time
7. Joust
8. Millipede
9. Gyruss
10. Asteroids
HM: Track and Field, Moon Patrol, House of the Dead, Punch Out, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Mad Planets, Zoo Keeper
Excellent!!
Yeah, the lack of Robotron (and Defender) is unfathomable.
OMG someone who knows about Millipede???? I'M shocked and yet happy to find that out
Jamie Laszlo but they are THE originals, something to be said for being first.
I liked 4, 5, 7 and 8 on your list! Preferred Galaxians to Galaga.
Ooh and how could i forget-Kung fu master and shinobi🖒
Justin H heck yes!!! Both great! And kung fu master I fell in love with.
SEGA King of the arcade!
Qix simplicity was the Zen of gaming, Q-Bert's THUNK! when he fell and eye bending patterns was unmatched,
Robotron, Golden Axe, DigDug, Adventure, Tempest, Defender and Joust could be found in every arcade.
Pizza shops still have working arcade horizontal glass tables, though most people just eat pizza off of them.
They don't earn much in quarters, but it's a classic part of atmosphere...
I got to play a Qbert prototype, it was called “@?#@!” On the marquee and title screen, saw it a year later as Qbert. The thunking in it was a knocker from a pinball machine (where they are often used to signal a free game)
X-men vs Street Fighter
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Killer Instinct 2
Mortal Kombat 2
Killer Instinct
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Primal Rage bro!
Mr. Asshole
No Mortal Kombat 2 is a shame. Not a fighting game, but Time Crissis alone with 2 guns nice.
I see SOMEBODY likes fighting games
Bomberman
ASO
Tiger Heli
Commando
Xevious
R-Type
Elevator Action
1942
Moon Cresta
Battle Zone
@@iCursedMatt MK2 brought fighting games to a whole new level, unlike SF. Every MK games always delivered something new and different.
No sense, Pac man isn't actually the best game, it's just the most iconic, so if you were going for iconic, why not choose the original over mrs.? You can't say its better, because you know what is better? A lot of other games...
Well if we're going by that logic, exactly what game is "the best?"
Games are a subjective medium, and can't really be efficiently gauged by something like copies sold or average review scores.
Not Important popularity
+Noah Van Helsing Ms. Pac-Man > Pac-Man
Duke Spubber Spy Hunter > Rampage > TMNT > the rest
+Noah Van Helsing Ms. Pacman was more popular, simple as that. In fact, it's the most popular arcade game of all time.
Cruisin' USA, Moon Patrol, Golden Axe, 1942 were my go to games at the local video store.... ahhhhh, Blockbuster, so many memories.....
LIST A LOAD HERE ARE A FEW DOUBLE DRAGON, CABAL, JAIL BREAK, GREEN BERET, TMNT, PAPERBOY GOLDEN AXE AND KUNG FU MASTER
Centipede, Tempest, Turbo, Track and Field, Joust, Defender, Crazy Climber
I was fortunate to have a dad that was partners with 2 arcade rooms in Louisiana.
Back then, Santa left me one arcade by the tree for 5yrs.
Crazy Climber was the second arcade.
Turbo was the third..
Spy hunter, operation wolf and crusin usa should be on honorable mention.
I can beat operation wolf with one coin. It is not so hard
How is The House of the Dead not even an honorable mention?
Clearly you didn't listen to the part where they said "check out our other videos if your game Isn't listed here"
I loved the original house of the dead it was amazing and when 2 came out I was excited
I guess it depends on which countries they were more popular with. In my city the most popular arcade games were Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Captain Commando.
I adore that series, even though it is rated M, I loved it since I was 3 and though it was super hilarious and thrilling
Because it's a watch mojo list.
Street fighter 2, even decades later my hands still remember how to do an hadoken .
Almost all the arcades I go to Street Fighter 2 is free to play and in the back. It deserves better but you know flashing lights attracts kids more than quality.
UndeadMarksmanX Do you remember the old numbers bug when the game was on demo mode, during the demo fight on the player 2 controls go up up down down left right left right strong punch strong kick and you will get a bunch of random number pop up on the screen :P
After SFII, you could make a hadoken movement in pretty much ANY fighting game and get some special move! LOL they standardized gaming controls
+lordnevetsz Fighting games still exist you know..
-Ron7- No shit? wow I had no clue....derp
Just don't have the time t play em any more mate :)
Altered Beast was one I couldn't get enough of.
@@peakbagger6805 Yes it was. Although I never played it on Sega.
Heavy barrel . too much classics it should've been top 30
I was born in 1974. That means I lived this in real time. Try to imagine being a kid in the pre internet era. I would go to the local arcade with maybe $1.50 that I had saved by not buying snacks at school. There were the really old classics that had always been there - PAC man, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Star Castle, Galaxian, Berzerk. And every few weeks there was a new game. So many were destined to be classics. Here is a list of games that one day just appeared for me to try. Qbert. Dragons Lair. Donkey Kong. Kung Fu Master. Karate Champ. Marble Madness. Gauntlet. Star Wars. Star Trek. Space Ace. And much later, Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Combat. What a time to be young.
Exactamundo, we were lucky to be born and grew up in the best time ever brother.
1 Defender
2 Scramble
3 Pheonix
4 Galaxians
5 Asteroids
6 Tempest
7 Robotron 2084
8 Xevious
9 Pole position
10 Outrun
Sweet List👍
Pixelated Icon good list, but there should be Pac Man game of some kind in there & a Nintendo classic of some kind.👍🏽👍🏽
Pretty much nailed it - possibly Stargate in at no 10 tho
No Defender? Seriously? How can you have a list of arcade games without Defender
Yes sir
No Williams games at all? Not a true top 10 list. Whomever made this was not in the arcades in the '80s.
@Doug Lockhart stargate was
Defender is right up there with Pac Man in my book!!!
@gashthrasher v.2
Yes haha not eating and saving my lunch money and going to the arcade after school with my friends or asking our moms to pack us lunches.
Outrun
Double Dragon
Golden Axe
Ghosts and Goblins
Operation Wolf (the one with the physical UZI)
Where's Super Hang On?
TK 6059 yes awesome 😄
Elevator operator game?? Not sure what the title was again? Or was that it
No double dragon? Not even in the honorable mentions? Beyond criminal
DOUBLE DRAGON 1 AND 2 TOPS
It's tough to argue the picks, but I am sad Dragons Lair didn't even get an honourable mention.
+Jack Hofking every time I went to the arcade,Dragon's Lair was always broken
+Jack Hofking its because they are too inexperienced to know wtf they are talking about. Just research monkeys, not true gamers. There are so many epic arcade games not even mentioned in most top lists. 'Toki' is one of them that got slept-on, as well as the machine for Galaxy Force 2, Bubble Bobble ext...
Great Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Zeyames Wonliver Breakthrough (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind product for playing classic games minus the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my old buddy Taylor got excellent results with it.
streetfighter and mortal kombat are my favorites
Dregs we have somthing in common. My two favs. But im great at a lot of 80's games.
Mortal Kombat stupid
Dregs Liu Kang is his turkey calls!!! Gotta live that bicycle kick!
TEMPEST!
Simply Ravishing totally agree with you. As a 41 year old dude I’ll add NBA jam as a 3rd to your list.
Street Fighter II will always be #1 in my heart. “YOU WIN! PERFECT!”
Even though that game was rushed during development.
@@KenMasters. every game was rushed more or less. some more then others though
M2👑
"Hey you got Pac-Man?" "No." You got Space Invaders? "Nope." "You got Asteroids?" "No, but my dad does, can't even sit on the toilet somedays."
Ms pac-man was better than pac man. I love both though.
Watched this a few times.
tempest, and joust, and defender
I remember joust and defender..never played tempest
Atari had some great arcade games way back
Love me some *Joust* and *Tempest* .. I played enough quarters to own both stand up machines; cpu, chassy and all.
And centipede
@@reesewalker901 And at the grocery store nearby where I grew up, there was Millipede! It was like a better, newer version of Centipede. Ruled! I had Centipede on the Atari 2600. Loved it. I still have it, actually, but I don't know if my system still works.
arcades: California speed, cruisin USA, hydro thunder
Hard drivin
I think that Sinistar should be on that list as well, unless it was on a previous list. Great video guys!!!
That was a hard game to play!
There’s no way in hell that Dance Dance Revolution beat Frogger & Astroids!!
GTFOH!!
No R-type 🙁
I totally agree!!! Astroids is one of the best ever arcade games.
As good as missle command !
The fact that dance dance crapolafest is even ON this list is proof positive that the perpetrators of this ridiculous list are quite raving mad and have absolutely no idea or clue about anything related to video games whatsoever and should voluntarily retire and seek professional psychiatric care.
calm down.
I agree with list, but Double Dragon should have made it somewhere
IKR and it only got honorable mention for top 10 arcade games of the 80's which is complete bullshit! I was obsessed with that game. It is my number 1 of all time!
Couldn't agree more
double dragon and super mario bros. i've played all the games on the list but never played or heard of the #9 version of star wars and i was a pretty big arcade nerd in the early 90's.
69hemihead Agreed. I played a lot of arcade games growing up and Double Dragon had just as much impact when it came out as Pac-man, Donkey Kong or space invaders. It owned 1988/89
Not that much of an arcade nerd. Super mario brothers was a console game. It was on the playchoice 10 on the arcade, but it wasn't a real arcade game.
I think if you're going to give the Simpsons an honorable mention, you also have to mention the X-Men arcade game. Colossus and Wolverine were my usual team with me taking Colossus. Also wanted to mention that the original Ninja Turtles arcade games of the late 80's are what originally got me into the arcade's. Before that I was strictly a very young Atari gamer trying to beat Pitfall and laughing while I destroyed everyone on the bouncing bullets tanks from the Combat game.
Nathan Lynn calm down mr.paragraph
@quick fire the fuck are you telling him to calm down for?????
vice2vursa the paragraphs
quick fire paragraph's?? I only see one paragraph bro. you're comment was pointless.
you're just as bad makeing a pointless complaint
Loved your list, even though I never played several of these games. My favorite of all time was Tron
OMG the money I drop in that game. It was awesome brother
Definitely one of my faves.
Me and my friends allways thought that when Ken and Ryu did a Hadouken, they shouted "How are you Ken?!"
San Francisco Rush, Killer Instinct, and the X-Men arcade game should definitely be on the list.
What?!?! No Pong which was one of the very very first Arcade Cabinet games out there
+michael1234252 Being first doesn't make you instantly good.
+Barcel Tell that to these commenters
+Barcel well it's one of the most reconised arcade game back in the 80's
More associated with home gaming
+michael1234252 it's much better known today for its home console release
I remembered this as if it was yesterday. Thanks to the video!
Mortal kombat 2 will always be #1 in my book! Back in 1994 when i was 12, and going to the bowling alley, with some quarters, one the be best experiences I've had in video games.
Where is outrun?
YASS
Outrunners too!!! 👍
Virtua Racing, Crusin USA and Daytona USA are my 3 racing favorites!
Outrun should be #1
What about *Chase HQ* ??
I had to cut classes 3 straight weeks for street fighter II, true story!
Ms. Pac-Man was the first game I beat. Probably put about 30 dollars into that game over several weeks in 1985.
What do you mean beat? Doesn't the game just repeat endlessly?
@@mattuw82 no, it ends with you being reunited with Pac-Man and Baby Pac.
Robotron 2084, Ghouls n Ghosts and Strider should be here. Also New Zealand Story is superb!
Hard to argue with #1. The sheer simplicity of Pac-Man and its ability to stimulate the brains perpetually make it a stand out among the greats.
Ms Pac Man was the number 1 game of allllllll time. I'd say it made the most money back in the day. Still love playing it
Ghost n' Goblins, Karnov, and Gauntlet are my reason for being poor today :P
LOVED Ghosts 'N' Goblins!!
Crazy Taxi should have gotten an honorable mention when it came out it was unique. Granted it came out way after the golden age of arcades.
As a former DDR player, I'm more than glad that the game's series became among the top five of the top ten, as was "Donkey Kong". Both were a challenging pair of games, but fun.. much like "Thunder Blade". You know, that arcade game where you pilot an attack helicopter through four missions, bringing the fight to the enemy while dodging shot and shell and avoiding head-on collision with many obstacles.
Street Fighter 2, Final Fight, 1941, Double Dragon, Aliens, Golden Axe, Daytona, Ghost n Ghouls and Gauntlet were my favourites back in the day. You don't see a crowd of people fixated on a machine anymore... I mean except for a TV!
Contra and Bubble Bobble were two of my favorites. Does anyone remember Mat Mania? I could play that wrestling game for hours on one quarter.
god damnit I had Contra on NES, I can't imagine the amount of money needed to get far in that game.
This is actually a pretty good list, I like it, I may have some other pics I might prefer but this is a darn good list.
defender and robotron 2084 are simply the best, they are 100 times better than space invader.
defender is amazing
I couldn't get the hang of Defender. The controls were weird.
Daniel Grace it takes time to get used on the controls. It wasn't hard for me as the control scheme was similar to asteroids.
Arcade control sometimes works better than the single D-pad controls like atari 2600 port or williams arcade's greatest hits for genesis and ps1 especially when i kill the swarmers from tail.
wasnt and easy game but was utter classic killer sound and fast moving graphics
Space Invaders spurred a yen shortage in Japan, no other game has the honor of doing such a thing.
Double Dragon, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, Bad Dudes, Out Run, After Burner II, Kung-Fu Master, ...
Yie Ar Kung-Fu was awesome
@Simply Ravishing You haven't played After Burner II until you've played it in the motorized, moving cabinet!
Bad dudes yeees
Gave your comment a thumbs up for mentioning Bad Dudes! 😃😃
Oh man, someone mentioned Yie Ar Kung-Fu! i thought I was being silly, I loved that game.
Galaga was my jam as a kid in the arcades back in the mid 80s. Three games I used to play all the time that didn't make your list - Xevious, Burger Time and Crazy Taxi. I'm gonna put an honorable mention to a game that I never see on any list...Arabian! It was a game by a company called Sun Electronics.
Props for including Time Crisis, Daytona and DDR. Awesome games.
Where's spy hunter?
BDevi0us Spy Hunter was awesome!!! Oil slicks, smoke screens, guns a blazing from the front of the car then having switch from car to boat was incredible also!! Definitely a hall of fame game!!!

Tmnt2, San Francisco Rush, and Ivan Stewart’s Off Road Challenge are my favorites.
Cruis N' USA was another one I used to frequent back in the mid nineties.

Centipede, missile command and so many more
Missile Command and Centipede as they used a track ball
The rolling pincher! It made any game cooler. Arcade Atari Football, anyone?

This isn't a "Best of" series, but a "Most Influential" series. That's not what I thought I'd get from 'Top 10'.
Influential, this list is great. As a best of, it's way off.
give us your list then
Linky-poo Uh... no. If it were a "most influential" list, PAC-MAN would be number one instead of Ms. PAC-MAN. Hell, PAC-MAN should be number one either way!
Linky-poo it doesn't say best of it just says top 10 arcade games of all time
If it was 'most influential, why wasn't pong included?
Street Fighter II is imo the best, the most iconic and legendary arcade game of all time! The ultimate timeless classic! Ms Pac-Man is 1st, it's okay but...where the f..k is Final Fight?! We can't speak about arcade games without to speak about Final Fight!! And I think that classics like Golden Axe, Shinobi, Out Run, After Burner, Ghouls' n' Ghosts, Toki, Pang... should be mentioned! My top 10 "Favorite arcade games of all time":
10)- RoboCop
09)- Toki
08)- NBA Jam
08)- Daytona USA
07)- Mortal Kombat II
06)- TMNT: Turtles in Time
05)- Samourai Shodown
04)- Shadow Dancer
03)- Golden Axe
02)- Final Fight
01)- Street Fighter II
Honorable mentions: Shinobi, Out Run, After Burner, Chase HQ, Ghouls n' Ghosts, Knights of the Round, Sunset Riders, Alien Storm, Bad Dudes Vs Dragon Ninja, Altered Beast, Fatal Fury, Aliens, Moonwalker, Pang, 1943, Raiden, House of the Dead, Operation Wolf, Pac-Man, Splatterhouse, Ninja Gaiden, Strider, Space Invaders & Ridge Racer.
Agree totally about Final Fight! Next to Street Fighter it's probably the 2nd most imitated game ever.
Looking at that list, looks like you arrived at the arcades a little late. Personally, I HATED SF II.
Knights of the round can't be an honorable mention... number three may be...
Moonwalker took a marvelous music into a video game. ...
There was a die hard game that I loved. Was pretty easy to get through it in a visit. Fun beat em up action with temporary weapons to pick up.
I remember going to the outer banks NC and there was an arcade with 9 of the most iconic arcade games playable.
#1 galaga because it’s fun and easy

House of the dead stole all of my quarters. You play player one and two and go dual wielding. Never made it past the monkey boss. XD
I'm surprised that you guys didn't include NBA JAM on the all time's list. This is still an impressive list though.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 & Tekken Tag Tournement 2 @ my local Arcade would have a 30min to 1hr waiting period to play EVERY DAY (after school let out of course). There was no better feeling than finally getting your turn and winning over and over again defeating every new challenger! Also I'm pretty sure Gauntlet Legends took the most $ from me, being able to save your character progression and pick up were you left off on your next visit was pure genius by Midway!! Great list, great video, keep up the great work!
