Definitely going to have to practice this. It looks very handy for hammer-ons and pull-offs, and for chords that require a stretch.
For sure!
I've been biting my teeth out on those pull offs in your romantic flight arrangement from HTTYD. So maybe I'll finally be able to figure it out now. Thanks for the educational content back here on the main channel!
You're welcome! Keep grinding
For the pulling off part
I mostly use force downward+upwards instead of downward+inwards because that makes the finger touch the neighbouring string and while playing fingerstyle percussion sometimes that string must sound with those other ones
Just stumbled across this while looking up info on one handed guitar as I just had surgery on my right hand. Definitely got some insight and will be working on this. Thank you for the info and tabs!
This made me realize how bending is different than hammer ons/offs. He explains "down, down" (I would call it) where you press down on the string and pull down on the string for hammer offs/on. But for bends you always want to bend towards the middle of the guitar. Hammer Ons/Offs are always down, down. Bends are some time down, down and some times down, up (DOWN on the string. bend UP towards the middle of the guitar)
Odd random thought I know but sometimes things click.
Solid insight. Thanks for sharing!
Great explanation, Nathan :)
I always have this "bad habit" to press the fret in the wrong place...
I'm practicing left-hand only thing.. but... Why didn't I think about percussion for the right hand?! Now, I want to go home faster to try it :)
And of course, the logo of this video is awesome! :D need to try this approach too :D
Ruslan! It's been a while. Great to hear from you
@@BeyondTheGuitar It's been a while, Nathan!
And thanks for this cool etude, I'll try to learn it soon :)
I will definitly download this!
You got a permit for them GUNS, brotha? 💪
😅
Great advice from one of the best guitarists on youtube. Thanks so much Nathan!
Will try this, pretty good idea!
Aside from being useful for practicing - freaking gorgeous piece of music, brother. Thank you for this.
You're welcome Nigel
This is amazing, thank you so much!
Got intrigued by this exercise! Especially loved the potential benefits #1 and #2. Now it's time to practice!
Thank you for this valuable lesson, Nathan! Your Fingerstyle Journey is incredibly effective! May God bless you!
Thank you Alexandre! I’m always grateful that I get to be your teacher
Great exercise. Good reminders on the proper technique.
Definitely!
this guy could play the guitar with his knees and it would still sound great.
😅
I'll give it a try!!
Let me know how it goes
Have you ever tried anything like this in your practice before? Leave me a comment and let me know!
I haven't! Definitely going to try tho!
Merci !
De rien!
Also, how do you play certain songs with fast trills (Asturias for ex.) without your nails clanking on the nylon? I've noticed longer nails makes it easier to create nail clicking when repositioning the fleshy part of the finger.
Super helpful Nathan I’m definitely gonna get the tabs and try this. Maybe it will help that I’m left handed😂
Let me know how it goes, Elijah
I have a question maestro, if you find it difficult to hold complex chords accurately (to avoid buzzing), is it common to tune the guitar slightly lower, say 432hz, or 415hz so standard tuning is easier on the joints during practice?
I got a strong hand brother. Believe me. Years and years of "practice".
🧐
Wow a fully funny entertaiment for guitar gym exercises 😅!
Haha give it a try
trying this on steel strings gonna hurt alot
Practice all you want, but unless you use a left handed guitar, you will never be able to do it right.
I can't tell if this is a joke or not
@@BeyondTheGuitar :P It's a joke ! :P
I'm left handed and can't for the life of me play right-handed. I can't. Spent 2 1/2 months daily practice and ultimately my rhythm and timing was all screwed up which took longer to re-correct on a cheaper left handed, converted guitar. That being said, It's hell and I wish I was right handed. Sucks for learning instruments.
Turn your recording mike down. It is much louder than others when you come on. Thanks!
Or just turn your volume on your device down. I'd rather have too loud, than too soft. Which is the case more so than not.

🤘🏼
I didn't have this tab. Just some newsletter for your publicity... I hate how the people do actually.. Dude seriously.. U play really well, but ur like the other ****** people who try to steal my time
😅 you’re so entitled. Your time must be REALLY valuable if you’re complaining about people who are making free content for you... If you didn’t get the tabs, you’re doing something wrong. Everybody else got them no problem. Don’t bother trying again though - with your attitude, I can tell you won’t have the commitment to actually learn this piece anyway 🤘
@@BeyondTheGuitar I'v already learnt it watching you play. But that doesn't excuse my behavior on my first comment. My bad, you can blame me. Sorry.
The maraca was just for show? Clickbaitery
