My first experience with Halo was when CE came out on PC. Not that I wasn't acquainted with orchestral music in video games, but when I heard the Gregorian chant opening, I was blown away to the point I was wondering if this was the right game. This classical rendition brought that memory rushing in and I was 13 all over again for a minute.
Excellent work, and you're inspiring me to pick up my guitar again if for nothing else than to learn this.
Just imagine this: You’re camping with some friends, one dude just strumming a guitar. Then all of a sudden he plays this. Instant core memory and one hell of a moment.

I've been a guitarist since I was 8 and a gamer since I was 12 (that's when the first Space Invaders machine turned up in my local milkbar.)
I just changed my will, and this is to be played at my funeral while my body is moved to the rail to be buried at sea.

God this gives the song an entirely different vibe, it's less Epic Space Opera and more Space Cowboy....and I'm absolutely here for it. It's like the chief had a cameo on Firefly or something.
Intersting you would call it a “Epic Space Opera” I always though it was more of a “Epic Space Church Chior” or at least I think the beginning of the music sounds that way

This is an incredible performance! I was not expecting this to put me so far into my feels
I feel like this should be integrated into a Western "re-telling" of the Halo storyline. Epic.
Instead of Master Chief we get Master Sheriff.
@@KptnYggdra Why not Master Ranger? Wait no nevermind that sounds dumb.
Nah, obviously its a Fantasy setting version of the storyline. Instead of the Elites, Grunts, Jackals, and Brutes you have Orcs, Goblins, Kobolds, and Ogres. Instead of guns you've got magic and swords. Instead of the flood you have an undead hivemind led by a lich who gave himself to his creation. Honestly it sounds really badass and I cant help but picture it this way XD
@@elijahmoffett7059 this is better than a western version, and those where already good
@@corvus196 I am quite biased towards fantasy settings and hearing the early parts of this, for some reason when I heard the higher notes I thought of a lute or a lyre (I've not heard a lyre played but I imagine that's what It would sound like), as for a brief moment I pictured it playing in a tavern. I dunno, the little kid in me that loved dragons and knights never really died lol
I think the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure" is the most fitting here. this is AMAZING.
Except for there is no trash
@@vu-sin485 the one that posted that the song is trash on classical guitar can be the “trash” in this instance…
Wow! Had to listen to it three times in a row, because it was played so great! It brings a lot of memories back to life, wish I could play like this! Thanks a lot for that
Not a halo fan, can't remember hearing the theme before now... but I can appreciate music. And I can say, it's so cool how just changing the instrument can preserve the sense of upcoming adventure and intensity of the original theme, but slightly change the meaning behind it. The original context is sci-fi, from what I know. Here, it sounds like a classical epic tale being told to you, like a bard is regaling you with a tale on equal level of Beowolf or the Illiad.
Like through the music, they're inviting you into the world of the story and all the adventure that awaits within. Like it's telling you the tale of a hero, or many heroes, and their battles, slowly drawing you in with an air of mystery from the start before unfurling the full force of the story for you, then wrapping up with a reprise of the beginning to let you take a moment to contemplate how this story has changed you, changed your life. To wonder where the heroes go when they walk off into the sunset.

One man's trash is another man's treasure - and you, sir, are a treasure! This is the most uplifting Halo Theme cover that I've ever heard! Keep it up!
Just listened to this with some IEMs and holy cow! When you can hear all the chords it makes this song even better!
Anyone who thinks that basically anything would sound like "trash" on classical guitar has a profound misunderstanding of the instrument. This is gorgeous!
Well, in their (and my) defence, 99.999% of the acoustic guitar they've (and I've) heard is NOTHING like this.
This is like the metal-violin resurrection from a few decades ago, breathing new life into an obsolete art.
People like that dont know music bruh
Remember bois it ain't the instrument it's the musician that's trash. If a man can make halo main theme on a calculator, anything is possible.
This but for any instrument tbh
This is true of almost every instrument. The most important factor is the skill of the player, not their instrument.
Less “epic Sci-Fi journey” and rather, more of a “pre climax Western build up”, (“gathering supplies to save your sister, release the stolen cattle, and blow up that good-for-nothing McGregor’s Family Ranch”, kinda vibe).

This almost feels like a moment of quiet respite, as if Master Chief is sitting by a campfire, helmet taken off, taking a moment to recall the moments of the many that had fallen in the midst of a massive battle. As the night skies draw away like the curtains and reveal the morning sun, Master Chief puts his helmet back on understanding that peace is often short-lived when won through the means of battle, and that there will always be a force within the universe that will try to threaten that calm now present within the galaxy… Until the last of the Covenant was obliterated, he would continue fighting until the day he no longer had to, or he had fallen in battle. Not a moment sooner.

Gawd damn, not only does this sound amazing, it somehow sounds medieval and modern at the same time
Just looked in the comments and there's Xbox, Marty O'Donnell, and Brandon Herrera (the AK guy) all in agreeance that this is fire
Not to mention countless other checkmarked channels
Couldn't agree more jeez
it sounds like a song out of a cowboy movie
@@shivankarsrijansingh2155 not at all lmao, it's way more european sounding. the halo theme and the games were heavily inspired by norse culture and mythology.
so it's not "cowboy" music. it's more of a tavern tune from the dark ages
@@j.stretcher That’s just his opinion; leave him alone
@@adriangarza6452 well it's an opinion that indicates that he has no idea what he's talking about lmao, therefore useless
"Sir Chief, what ist thou doing on yonder vessel?"
"M'Lord Hood, finishing this sortie."
I hope this composition goes through time.... it means so much to me... its like hearing hope.
Every once in a while this magical UA-cam algorithm suggests something that just captures me, and boy did it strike gold this time.
This was just fantastic, truly brought out that epic feel that felt all those years ago when I first played Halo. Just goes to show, you don't need an entire orchestra to have such an impact on a piece of music. Well played Sir, well played!!!

Praise be to the algorithm
The octave drop at 1:22 was SO WELL DONE and the chord voicings you chose for it add such a unique flair
I loved that part, came to the comments to see if anybody else picked up on it too
Almost didn't catch it.
As this was the first musical piece to ever grace my ears and I loved instantly as a child. This rendition definitely comes close to being up there with the original and how it felt hearing that song for the first time
Wow, that sounds amazing. Well done sir, well done!
My father was a huge Halo fan, played with him when I was a teen, this song will never not remind me of him, he would have loved this cover !
Mad respects to your father
@@LMProduction for playing halo?
@@jibsij3964 for being a good father
@@ThePizzaGuy1998 dayum didn’t know it’s that easy these days to count as a good parent tho
@@jibsij3964 damn... looks like somebody had shit parents.
was the start of the faster bit at 0:42 keyed to the reveal of Master Chief behind you simply a coincidence, or did you plan that?
EIther way, that gave me chills. Also, holy crap, that entire cover was amazing as heck.
Wow, I didn't even notice that Halo was playing in the background, I was so interested in thr guitar playing.
Thanks for pointing this out, the whole thing is synced up really well
Either he did an outrageous good work on lighting, or is a green screen background, with the scene being recorded apart. Either way still fantastic
Hearing how beautiful this sounded brought actual tears to my eyes and shivers down my spine. I grew up playing Halo and was a huge part of my childhood, bringing back memories.
Yo this unlocked a really old memory for me. Rome Total war the OG game, the music.. cool. Thank you for that.
