Hey man I’ve been watching your videos for years now and you’ve helped me improve my guitar rapidly, it’s helped me understand how to put chords and melodies together over time and practice and I couldn’t thank you more
@@MarcoCirillo Would you please break down Piero Umiliani's Crepuscolo Sul Mare. It is a beautiful song but everyone else just wants to show off that they can play it but not help others learn how. I enjoy the way you break things down and help people enjoy their instrument more. Thank you for the time that you put in for us.
It's one of the most understated, yet accessible, forms of guitar, so many people miss out because they misunderstand the simple beauty of the guitar from Spain, which just happened to be invented there, so figures they may know a thing or two. Beautiful lesson exquisitely presented, thanks so much for your generosity in sharing!
I wanted to say Marco, this lesson is priceless, and then I thought, this lesson is surely the key to me unlocking several Spanish techniques and moving on from the doldrums. It’s gold dust. Thank you for giving your time free.
Best lesson for Spanish guitar! Fantastic! I always wanted to play so, but it was only "Don't let me be misunderstood" and "Concierto por Aranjuez", Part1. But this is so great! Perfect teaching and Tabs.Thank you, Marco!
Instant subscriber! That was brilliant, I love playing classical (just starting at 68 yo) and bites of theory like this really help. Thanks a lot Marco!
Love your lessons. They help me alot. I'm Scottish and at 8:27 when you say "alot of character" I was like hey how come he sounded like he had the same accent as me there? Haha. Have an amazing day.
I was in the country side of Cataluna this summer, with family and friends. A lovely place with cypres, pins and olive trees. Wanted to relax, far away from work, screens and city. I didn’t take any guitare with me. At some stage i finally checked my phone and saw this new video. It was a sign : i realised that i needed quickly to find a guitare. I took my car and drove to the only guitar shop I found. I bought a lovely Admira classical Guitar. Every night, i was playing passionately spanish guitar based on your lesson. Loved the vibes in this fabulous area of spain. My son and daughter were listening, and they now both want to learn guitar. Who knows, maybe next year i’ll have a fabulous rumba catalana trio to play with ;) Once again Marco, thank you so much for all the inspiration you create !
It's so beautifully explained... also why do I always feel like picking up my guitar and playing everything you play after watching these amazing videos... you sure have made my playing so much more melodic and interesting. Thank you so Much Marco.
I love this. I've not been playing that long but even I can make this sound like I know what I'm doing - especially the version where you pedal the e. What's nice is that even I can mess around with it. Instead of 5, 4, 3, 2 with 1 in between. You can do 5, 2, 3, 4 or 5, 2, 2, 2 or anything else and it just changes the melody to add some variation.
Marco, another fantastic lesson my man! I really enjoy taking these lessons in and applying them! At some point in the next few months I’d like to send you something of my own to critique if you dig it…thanks for everything you do here!
Great video! Finally gave me good motivation to pull my classical guitar off the wall and dust it off. With just this lesson I was able to sound pretty good.
Thanks for this! On the advice of a mental health professional, I'm picking up the guitar again after being away from it for twenty-five years (one time, full time, pro "lead guitar slinger"). For me, your approach is "just what the doctor ordered". Life saver. Peace and blessings.
Fascinating how your playing remind me some surfrock classic, like the solo of Pipeline, or Walk don't run that share the andalusian cadence. Before my grand father die, 1 month ago, i use to play these two surf classic, and it always remind him some old souvenir of the 60's. Now these surf classic just dont sound the same. My grand father was a country guitar player, and i have
A video of him playing the Malaguena. A simple, but soulful version of it. Supprising for a folk/country style guitar player. Good music just dont have border.
I discovered your videos recently, Marco. Just now this one. Up to now I could just say I like spanish guitar - now I have a starter plan. Great! (I'm sort of advanced beginner). BIG thank you for that and other stuff. Your videos are always very detailed explaining and helpful.
Thanks for the video I have studied the harmonic miner for years and to spite all my knowledge I still learn new study techniques watching your video. I shall subscribe 😊
at time 01:18, there's a common mistake. It's actually not i, vii, vi, v(maj). The real progression is moving towards resolution on the i, which is the E major. Phrygian dominant mode of the harmonic minor scale. So it's iv, iii, ii, i.
@@misterd.2250 1. it's not complicated, at all. it's merely a way of describing what's going on. 2. it DOES matter, and not applying it will hinder your abilities as a musician. Music theory CAN get complicated, but what we're talking about here really is the most basic, most essential stuff there is.
@@rickf6375 to each his own, I completely understand what he’s saying here but this isn’t a comment discussing the actual sound(distance of intervals). It’s a comment trying to figure out a way to write out this sequence with a different perceived tonic, which is a irrelevant and a complete headache. However knowing the Roman numerals, minor/major, and notes in a scale are useful so agree with you there.
Will you post some of you just tearing into it? Take what you are teaching here, and lay it all out where you have gone with it. Thank you. You’ve got some talent, bubba.
Love your videos Marco, me as someone who just played some chords at the campfire loves here these little bits of pieces that really sound great. I just dont know really where to start. I hear some people say start by just learning some songs more. I am missing a bit of structure there. I started your free e book but not sure if that is the right thing to learn. The excersices are awsome just dont know if i can do them i can play afterwards pieces easier or even make up my own like this spanish stuff that sounds awsome

This was a super fun compact lesson/ video, lots to try and play around with; a whole kit! Thanks a bunch!

Hey that was super cool. Spanish guitar seems so esoteric. Your explanation is very clear and makes it more accessible!
Learn the Phrygian scale.

I mostly agree and yet it's not so much a mistake as it is merely a different way of expressing the same thing, albeit less clear/common.
