First off I apologize for whats about to come but I am going to write a whole paragraph about Awakened Kinsect Attack spam because its my favorite way to play the game!
I have tested every single Kinsect (only severing ones, blunt ones are bad because they dont get elemental damage increase) and theres only 4 Kinsects that work but I still would only recommend 2.
The damage numbers I am about to list arent 100% precise but they are just more or less around that number.
So the Speed Kinsects do the most damage out of all kinsects.
With 1 extract they do 3 hits of 190 - 250 dmg (monster and hitzone dependend, more about this later) while all the other kinsects do either 1 hit of 180 - 250 or 2 hits of 180 - 200 dmg.
With 2 extracts they do 4 hits of 200 - 230 damage while the others do 2 hits of 250 - 300 dmg or 3 hits of 200 dmg.
And 3 extracts doesnt really matter because with this playstyle you just want to spam A.K.A with 1 or 2 extracts, but whenever theres a chance to grab 3 then of course go for it! If you hit all of the 7 hits you can do up to 1700+ damage.
Now the Dual Color Kinsects are good too, they absolutely do work and you can use them but they are just not the best.
The best kinsect for this playstyle is the Grancathar kinsect. Because it does alot of damage on its own when you throw it as the icon is glowing blue, and the most important part is that it automatically returns to you after you use A.K.A making it very easy to spam A.K.A again or grab a second color right after.
The second best is the Foliacath kinsect but it requires a different playstyle because this kinsect does not return to you automatically after using A.K.A. You have to manually return it to you and it will do damage on the way back. Also good, but again requires just a different playstyle. Personally I prefer Grancathar because I can just spam A.K.A.
Now a bit more information about how Severing Kinsects scale.
Severing Kinsects damage only scales with the weapons Kinsect Level (lv15 is best) and the BASE! (
hmm. right now I'm building towards something that's not *exactly* a spam playstyle, but one that weaves between both awakened and powder vortex, taking advantage of the powder autotarget to dart in for some opportunistic direct strikes to help build up both powder mantle and burst (since mantle scales with raw); currently thinking of the Amatsu glaive due to its combination of silkbind passive, chonky raw for mantle and also having an element to begin with; water is far from the best but I'd think it'll at least add a decent bit against anything that isn't immune. (negative affinity is pretty much irrelevant if you're focusing on ranged gameplay, since to my knowledge neither kinsects nor explosions take it into account)
re: vaulting dance, a lot of the time I don't seem to even get sent into the monster fully, and if I do I don't seem to set off the powder in doing so, plus with kinsect strike equipped you get sent back instead of straight up.
I'll probably also put together a more spam-focused build later on, but wondering how impactful the Amatsu passive would be with that?
@@ZiaSatazaki The Amatsu passive does not work with Awakened Kinsect Attack. I dont know if it is a bug or intended but the game does not recognize it as a silkbind attack. Even if you spam the attack you will never trigger a mount with it.
Powder kinsects are not ideal for Awakened Kinsect Attack so it would be best to just focus on Powder Vortex.
But you can play however you want to!

@@ZiaSatazaki What I meant to say is that silkbind attacks usually trigger mount when used a certain amount of times. Awakened Kinsect Attack does not trigger it. The game somehow does not treat it like a silkbind attack and therefore it does not get the Amatsu weapon boost. The Attack just seems to be a Kinsect Attack which only gets a boost from the Kinsect Supercharge decoration and the extra element you get from lvling up slots in Qurio Weapon Crafting.
@@Nako3 huh. guess it's because the damage isn't coming from *you*; guess that pushes more into trying chaotic gore then, decent raw for mantle *and* good amount of dragon (which is the widest "good against" to my understanding?)

@Pyrac Nice, I do hit the awakened kinsect attack after leaving a couple of powder clouds. My max damage I found was 2850 last night, sometimes I’ll use tetraseal to hit a few places while wire is down and let the infect attack and leave a few powders out. When all RNG works I can utilize the hits from tetraseal to mark, and launch an awakened attack then powder vortex. But sometimes, smaller powder clouds hitting for 700 can be useful in a pinch.
I was wondering if the hazard velkhana is a good fight, and if it is, I would love to see you take the SAED cb to her!
not really a good fight in general for rise but i'll consider it
If you use awakened kinsect attack, and then powder vortex, you can do upwards to 2000-2550 damage.
I like powder vortex, i just wish there was a small grace period where the clouds wouldn't pop from your own attacks. Though AKA seems intended to use with powder kinsects, it's definitely pretty awkward bc of the vaulting dance. I like AKA with dual color alot better as you mentioned

@@Nako3 Thx for letting me know, your guide is actually pretty helpful. I definitely am a big fan of AKA spam, but I thought dual color was the best for it so it's what I use. I had tried it with foliacanth, but it didn't seem to work as well, so I wrote off all the other speed kinsects. I will def be trying out Grancathar. I am very happy to have another speed kinsect playstyle.
And yeah, I only said it seems like AKA should be intended to be used with powder kinsects since it generates extra powder clouds when you use it. But I feel like the devs didn't really think it through with how it forces you into vaulting dance. Recall kinsect as pyrac is using is def way better for powder vortex bug mage style

Awakened Kinsect Spam it was I tought would be a "mage insect glaive" and I think it's indeed more damage.

Yep one of my hunting buddies plays like this. He is a supporter so he mostly heals, buffs and such with wide range while also applying Paralysis like crazy.
Is not bad but it can be boring and for example for some more difficult monsters, he contributes almost nothing damage wise like Hazard Amatsu so he needs to change his approach whenever we farm that.
I use lance and we have someone playing dual blades and heavy bowgun so his support is really appreciated for keeping monsters static but I would much rather have better clear times rather than comfort as we are mostly responsible adults that have little to no time for playing games the 4 of us. It is not fun to waste our little free time just on 1 or 2 hunts.
