Hello Brian, I'd seen this railway at both ends and from the road, but this was the first time I'd taken the train, it won't be the last, I really enjoyed the ride.
Wonderful scenery, in and out of all those tunnels and galleries was a mystical experience. Shoes off, nice glass of red wine and I am enjoying. Thanks Tim ❤❤
Hello Anna, a glass of red wine would go down nicely now. The railway is in a class of its own, I can’t think of another protected by so many snow shelters, I'd love to go back in winter 😊.
Tim, another idiosyncratic, individual saga. Atmospheric and informative, as always. I liked the main camera position, with the ‘peephole’ aspect, especially with glimpses of the driver. The ‘cut aways’ to alternative shots amplified the sensation of ‘being there’. Thank you for sharing more of your travels. It is good to see you have broken free of the previous pandemic restrictions. Enjoy your renewed travels: these recordings & compilations bring great enjoyment - if vicariously - when viewed at ‘home’. Peter
Hello Peter, it was wonderful to break free again and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than riding Switzerland's wonderful railways. Rules have been tightened a little on some Swiss railways, although the driver was unable to let me place a camera in the cab, he did raise the blinds to give me a clear forward view of the railway, including the driver and the inside of his cab. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. Cheers. Tim.

Thank you Tim for another very high quality video! I certainly was not bothered by the position of the camera!. One thing alarmed me! Only five days ago I used Andermatt station, changing out of a train from Disentis on to a train going to Brig (via Realp and the Furka Base Tunnel). Andermatt station has been recently very extensively modernised. However to get to track four (from which the hourly Taktfahrplan trains to Brig depart) passengers still have to cross track three! At 12m 30s your video depicts the dangers of this anachronistic situation. Switzerland is famous for the efficiency of its railways - so what a pity this part of Andermatt station was not rebuilt!
Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, it was a railway I'd often seen from other trains and from the road, but I'd never had a reason to travel over it. It is a remarkable railway, traversing very difficult terrain. To me the situation at 12:30 is alarming, I live in the UK where crossing the tracks is either by bridge or subway, in the few places where people can cross the tracks on the level, there are interlocked gates protecting the crossing or it is manned. Some of the stations between Zermat and Brig have a single Island platform with the rails along both sides. It is quite frightening to step onto the narrow platform from a stopping train as a non-stop Glacier Express train passes through at speed.
@@Timsvideochannel1 Thanks Tim for such a full reply to my point about track 4 at Andermatt. I am British resident in Nottingham, but I am also a frequent visitor to Switzerland.
Hi Tim! The Schöllenen Gorge is a really wild natural landscape and breathtakingly beautiful. Always wonderful when a railway is built in such an exposed area 👍. I look out for the DFB Videos👌. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.
Hello Hans, I wasn't sure how this video would go down because I was unable to fix the camera in the front window or to the front of the train, although the driver was kind enough to raise the blind so that I could still shoot a forward view. The Schöllenen Gorge must have proved a real challege to construct a railway through. Cheers. Tim.
Another great video, Tim, despite the somewhat obstructed view from that cabin. It had a strange effect - I found my eyes were drawn entirely to the small middle window, and I was unable to focus on the whole picture. Still very enjoyable, and I look forward to the steam railway.
Hello Jim, on this occasion I was unable to place a camera in the cab, but the driver was kind enough to raise the blind allowing me to capture an alternative forward view. I know what you mean about being drawn to the center small window, I felt the same. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. Cheers. Tim.
Hello Robert, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I didn't visit the Matterhorn on this occasion although I have featured it in the past - ua-cam.com/video/k6-MK5f9LpI/v-deo.html
It's hard to tell, when the train is on a cog section I believe the cog is used for both braking and driving. I guess braking on conventional track is via the wheels, so it is possible that the sound you can hear is a wheel flat.
Did you know?... At 26:13 exact location of the memorable movie scene in James Bond 007's "GOLDFINGER" (1964), where a white Ford Mustang driven by a blond lady, goes off road after being chased by Sean Connery on his Aston Martin.

@Neil Forbes speaking of narrow gauge between Melbourne and Albury it was broad and standard but all that change when it became *ALL* standard between the two cities in 2010
@@top40researcher31 Melbourne to Albury was Standard Gauge from 1962 as the *Southern Aurora* was the first to run continuously from Sydney to Melbourne in that year. (continuously, as in not having to change gauge at Albury any more).
@Neil Forbes it was standard and broad at one time On 8 November 2008, broad gauge passenger trains ceased after the evening V/Line service from Melbourne to Albury and a special train operated by the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, the final broad-gauge passenger train from Albury to Melbourne. In December 2008, standardisation works commenced, contracted by ARTC to the Southern Improvement Alliance. The first train on the Wodonga Rail Bypass was in March 2010.
beautiful, interesting shot, I like it. BRAVO & LIKE
I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride 😊.
Thank you so much for this drivers eye iview. I have rode this railroad several times and this is definitely a great way to do it.

very very very nice footage of a track rarely filmed here, thank you!!!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the ride and now you mention it, I don't think I've seen a video featuring this line.
Great video, great shots, goes very well with coffee.
Hi, a good mug of coffee and a driver's eye video, it's hard to think of better way to while away an hour or two. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Schade, dass die Kamera nicht besser plaziert werden konnte!
Hi, is there a lot of snow in winter ? cheers .
There is a lot of snow in winter, that is why the railway is protected by so many snow shelters.
A train with a steering wheel???? I don't get the logic. Great video.
Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. Although it looks like a steering wheel, I believe it is the accelerator and brake combined into one.
