  • Join me on a sunny amble to some abandoned and forbidden railway tunnels in East Yorkshire. Heading down Comber Dale, there's more to see than just tunnels, including something you would never expect to see in Yorkshire.
Throw in c couple of history stories along the way, including a bit of the history of the Hull and Barnsley Railway, there's a special surprise at the end.

Myxi hit thevrabbits in 1962. On the walk down to Weedlly springs there were mounds over dead rabbits about every 30 metres. The cutting was free of vegitation and one track remained. A magical place.

Hey there! 🚶‍♂🌄 Thanks for this awesome exploration video of East Yorkshire's forbidden tunnels and the unexpected detour to the vineyard 🍇🍷. The history and stories you shared about these tunnels and the 1947 winter were so fascinating. 😮 It's a shame we couldn't explore Weedby Tunnel, but Sugarloaf Tunnel was quite the adventure! Can't wait for more of your explorations. 👏👍

Enjoyed this video Paul - especially (and obviously) the journey through the tunnel - summer looks like the best time to do it actually.
You've got the same knack for making on-screen corrections as I have as well lol.
    Keep it going pal.

On top of that bridge at the end looks a great place for a stealth camp

Just found your channel, the last time I did that walk must be over thirty years ago , the tunnels were open then , in sugarloaf there was an abandoned burnt out car , how on earth it got there is beyond me . I loved the hawthorn growing in the chalky embankment sides , because of the scarcity of soil in the chalk they were like a natural bonsai , and of of course the complete silence apart from the occasional bird song .

Fabulous video. This is one of my local walks but never dared go down onto the railway line or into the tunnels, so thanks for doing it for me 😀

Last time I was there Stoneledge were busying themselves slowly landfilling the other end of Sugar loaf (the bit between Sugar loaf and Drewton you refer to as a quarry). Drewton had bats another excuse used to deny access. The work that went into these feats of engineering. They ought to be listed and opened up. When they're gone they're gone. They used to be owned by Drewton estates.🤷‍♂️

Don't know why this popped up...used to go camping occasionally on this area back in 79/80. Weedly Springs...something like that. Me and my mates were usually a bit pi55ed. Happy days. When was the track abandonded and pulled up?
