- A Massive Covenant invasion force launches an attack on Sword Base, rapidly overrunning the base's exterior and interior, leaving few survivors.
Sergeant Marcus Davis and his Marines must fight their way out of the besieged ONI complex's interior and help the other human holdouts escape the doomed facility.

@@pvt.jonwallace Yeah. I wasnt expecting to see a spartan, but I _was_ expecting tp see the odst. The odst who probaly pissed off the covenant enough to send a scarab.

Conveniently enough....that commanding officer barking orders to you and the rest of the squad sounds an awful lot like the Captain Price from Call of Duty 2....ya know...the OG Price before the MW trilogy if you've played the OG Cod games that were primarily based on WW2.I wonder if the modders used his voicelines here as well.

the lack of vision of the company on this is tragic, Halo ODST was amazing, a Halo game focused on Marines perspective or POV would be too, just playing as a human soldier, without the improvements and the armor the spartans has, just your training, your skill, your experience, your instinct and your gun, i even think i could be like a compilation from different missions and operations, for example, Sword base like this video, New Alexandria defense and Evac, the non-showed marine operantions ran by the Alpha Base and Halo CE (told in Halo the flood (The book)) The defense of New Mombasa, even the defense of Cairo station,if you have read the books you know there is a lot of battles that works as material for making a game focused on UNSC Marines and UNSC Army (ground branch seen in Halo Reach)
Arma 3 modders have created an incredible halo experience using the Arma 3 engine. It is unironically the best halo-universe based game I may have ever played, and I grew up with the original Xbox and Halo CE. I play it about once a month with friends and it really gives you those "oh crap, I'm an absolutely nothing marine in a fight with aliens that are a whole lot tougher than I am, and they outnumber me 10 to 1" feelings.

As much as I loved ODST's atmosphere and music the gameplay was diet Halo 3...
Ikr, ODST should've been more like a tactical shooter but what we've got was mute Master Chief in ODST armor XD. And a Marine based game doesn't have to be super realistic, hell, a simple third person cover shooter similar to Gears of War could do the trick.

Still sucks this mod doesnt take advantage of the already-built-in squad mechanics in reach where you can use the d pad to add soldiers to your squad. This lets you know their ranks, names, and gives them a waypoint. This also has them play around you. Im assuming its intentional since you play as a low ranking soldier but still.

That magnetism causing your bullets to hit the wall can be easily fixed using the Black Eye skull. Granted, you'll have to actually hit your targets but it's still a much better experience overall.
Black eye turns bullet magnetism off? in all my years of playing these games never heard of that
@@pvt.jonwallace That is exactly what it does. I play with it on all the time and there is zero bullet magnetism.
To give a more distinct role to the lmg, i'd give it negative recoil, as in, the more you fire, the more accurate it gets.
This way it's actually distinct from assault rifle style weapons, and has a genuine thought process in it's use: "should I stop shooting? If I stop, I lose all accuracy and I'll be in trouble if I encounter another enemy, but if I don't, then I'll run out of ammo sooner rather than later!"
Kinda like wat battlefield 1 did with machineguns basically
Battlefield 1 also had supression which obsured the enemy player's field of vision if the bullets passed too close to them.
the only caveat would be the random bullet spread that palgued all guns on BF1...

@@mdioxd9200 meh it was world war 1 shooter so I gave it a pass. At that point the entire industry had been consumed by futuristic warfare settings and games.
it was a gem compared to the unfinished trash that would follow with BFV and BF2042
@@pvt.jonwallace i mean, the game clearly was a casualized battlefield experience that put immersion before competitiveness, and I have to say they succeeded greatly. We had and still have BF4 for our gunplay needs xD

I hate to nitpick but I’m pretty sure that Sword base’s garrison was UNSC army and ONI security not marines
I'm not so sure about that, ONI is a sub-branch of the Navy so ONI facilities would most likely be guarded by Marine personnel alongside their own security
@@Wolfknight1992 Fair enough, but the troops retreating towards sword base (during the section with the laser designator), guarding the exterior, and manning the outside communications and Anti aircraft outposts that we see during the mission are definitely army troopers
@@dominicdemuro462 well the Army is used mostly for defensive duties in lore, maybe the Marines and ODST's were sent as backup before shit went down bad

well canonically the Spartan-IIs all wore the exact same bulky MK V armor the Master Chief used during Halo CE shortly during the Fall of Reach.
It would make sense for regular infantry to misidentify a Spartan in the heat of battle.
@pvt.jonwallace I was more talking about how he, a regular human marine, decided to charge a 7-8 foot tall elite ultra with a broken shield to engage him in melee. Spartans do that shit and win, not us. XD
