This hymn was chosen for the memorial service of a dear friend and collegue of mine. He used to play the keyboard at his Church and this was the last hymn that he played, a beautiful service and a sentimental hymn. This hymn will be forever in my heart because of him. Rest in peace dearest Melvin. ❤❤❤
This is an amazing hymn. I love this song "in our death a resurrection; at last a victory" As Paul has stated "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" To all of you who have lost a loved ones, may the Lord give you peace that passes all understanding. This song is a reminder that those who pass on are not gone forever. We will see them again when our time on earth comes to an end! May God bless all of you! I thank God for Christ and the hope of heaven.
My voice teacher assigned me this to practice when I was 6 or 7. I had forgotten I sang it until a few years ago at a time when I had given up hoping for the fulfillment of my desires. Now I'm seeing how true it is! I am finally learning to be patient as waiting expectantly for the fulfullment of his promises! Thank you, God, for your perfect timing in your perfect way.
Beautiful recording of a beautiful song. We sang a beautiful arrangement of this song in church choir about 30 years ago. I sang it to my kids every night at bedtime when they were little.
I requested this song be sung at my dearest friend Alice Carter's memorial service at Foundry United Methodist Church where her ashes are interred. She died the week before Christmas of 2019 at the young age of 36. She would've been 37 the day after Christmas. She lived a rough and risky life. But although some of us knew she was living on borrowed time her passing still came as a shock. This song seemed particularly appropriate for the occasion and circumstances. Thank you to composer Natalie Sleath.
Elaine Alexander So appropriate for this "Virus Season" and also used at my husband's memorial service in 2016. Such beautiful lyrics and also photographs.
Thanks very much for this beautiful hymn. It was played at my on child's Memorial Service and it is coming up on the 7th anniversary of his "sunset." It gives me hope.
Thank you for posting this version. I needed to learn this hymn for a funeral, and this vid was very helpful. Please add the author credit: music and lyrics by Natalie Sleeth. (c)1986 Hope Publishing Company. The vast majority of music posted on UA-cam doesn't credit the writer, which is an issue for another post. But you've done such a nice job of presenting this hymn, and adding her name will only add to the gift that this video is to those of us who find it and watch it.
I agree. I actually didn’t realise so many people had used it at a funeral. But then I guess it’s still a song of hope if you have faith in the resurrection.
Jenni Wright yeah I was super surprised that it was seen as a funeral song! I can see why now that I think about it, but to me it is definite song about hope 🙏
Jenni, I am writing to requst permission to use this video at our church. I have also contacted Hope Publishing Company for their permission. Thank you.
Jenni, May I use this video for our son's Celebration of Life Service on August 20, 2022? I am contacting Hope Publishing Company as well. This song is in our church hymnal at First Congregational Church of Tallmadhe Ohio. I will give credits to you, Debra Nesgoda, Nancy Sleuth and Hope Publishing.
Hi Sue. I offer my sincere condolences for the loss of your son. A parent should not have to lose a child. Of course you may use the video. I only added the words, so as you stated, you will need to contact Hope Publishing. May you be comforted by the God of all Comfort at the Celebration of your son’s life. ❤️ Jenni
I actually sang a solo of this song at a memorial service for a friend of mine. Something that was a first for me but I love this song it is #747 in the Methodist hymnal. I told my friend that I would speak at his memorial service if he would speak at mine and I’m going to hold him to that.

Be sure to listen to all of this even after the interlude
See I don’t see this as an “ending” song at all. It’s definitely appropriate for memorials but it’s also a song for new beginnings ❤️

Hi. May I have your permission to use your video for my online church service this Sunday, 21/3? Thanks.
As long as you leave the acknowledgment to the original musicians, that will be fine.
Who is here from BB?
@Cara Torevell I don't even remember what I was talking about
@Cara Torevell Wait I think I meant "Boys' Brigade" which I have in my Sundays
Where can i find this song on a disc. It is beautiful
Thank you. Not sure if you could do a Google search to find it on disc. I found it on UA-cam. Sorry can't help further.
