Interesting you posted this 2 years ago, and it was 2 years and 4 months ago that we entered the most 'fiery trials' we've ever endured...and it hasn't ended. Rather, in many ways it has intensified. No matter how hard I pray that we would learn whatever lessons we're missing, or root out any hidden sins, we continue to be driven down. Yet - in the midst of it all I have seen God's hand. He's not silent - but we sure do need some miracles in our lives, and very soon, or I'll be living out of my car (slow death for me).
I’m battling such troubles right now but always my song shall be: Nearer my God to Thee, nearer to Thee!
Praise Him for having opened my eyes to His grace, now I understand that He is the only treasure worth pursuing, all my troubles and pain will pass away but He will remain forever faithful and He will bring me into His glory.
I pray for everyone here in the comments, to be blessed with the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ and to be strengthened in the Spirit, and brought nearer to our Heavenly Father, amen.

To all the lovely people in the comments. I’m sitting in my car, listening to this lovely hymn, while being parked about a mile from the grave of the poet who wrote it. Her name is Sarah Flower Adams and she was from my home town Harlow, Essex in the UK.
Sarah wrote hundreds of poem/hymns. Nearer My God...is her finest and relates to Genesis:28 about Jacob.

@@mikey_6785 Yep, it of course existed for a time before then. But that moment is what made it more significant and known to people. I admit I have never heard this song until seeing it years ago in the Titanic movie from the 90s, but after that I loved it though it also makes me teary eyed because of the scene in the movie. Especially the sweet old couple in bed together and the mother with her children.
This song will forever be etched in my heart in remembrance of my Late Father.

I'm not really a religious person but this will be sang at my funeral. I have a connection with this song that is unexplained
This song will not save any soul, no matter how much it touches them. We are all called to live a life of repentance for the sin we commit against a Holy God. It's through His Grace alone that you will be nearer to God. If you don't stop the behavior of sin before you pass, you will be tormented knowing you had a chance and didn't take it.
This is terrible advise from hell as prophesied in Luke 12:19-20 Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Whenever I hear this hymn, I immediately think of the Titanic’s string quartet (they played this while the ship was sinking in order to calm passengers down)
Some debate though whether it was in fact the last song the band played (RIP to them)
Though it does look like most survivors did say it was the last one
I don’t know if it’s this version though. I heard it could have been the Methodist version. But this version is among my favourite hymns. ❤
They sang this hymn at my grandfather's funeral in Portuguese because we're from Brazil, my grandfather served God his whole life, we miss him so much but he's definitely in heaven with Jesus🙏🏼

I lost my brother a month ago. We new this was coming although it was sudden. He had a wife but no children. His wife is bedridden.snd cannot even turn herself around. He was not a believer but believed in some other religion and so did she. We prayed hard for him and my aunt over him with me at his bedside. My aunt said she felt while praying he gave his life to the Lord. He died two days later. Now my sister in law who has no other relatives. My brother was wealthy but after fifty years of marriage made no provision to look after her. Not a cent. God stepped in and my uncle who is a Christian got him to change that in the last month. We had to move my sister in law closer to us in a home firstly to get her to feel the love of Jesus and secondly to get her away from those other people.. We visit her daily. She needs prayer love and trust. It's been three weeks now and now no talk about that strange religion. It's blanked out of her mind. Praise the Lord. We always remind her of God and I now see tears well up in her eyes. God is talking and at work. I asked her today why the tears, were they tears of joy. Her answer was yes. She has no idea she would have been left destitute but as my aunt, uncle, husband and I are Christians we can see God at work. The home is full of Christians but she can't get around yet or even move. We found a good doctor now who can do the work through God and has said we will be able to take her out soon. We taking her to the beach to see God's handy work. We cannot wait for that day but its near. God is at work. Please pray for her.
Well, it is written in the Holy Bible, that you were Healed when Jesus was nailed to the cross. Jesus paid for your healing already. Our only part is to ONLY BELIEVE that the healing is already yours, because of the price Jesus paid on the cross. Jesus paid a tremendous price for your healing and all of our sins. So you are already HEALED. Only Believe, Only Believe that you are healed. Praise the Lord. (David, Texas, USA)

@@lonniestarr1892 My father was not a believer and God healed him from his left eye. A very tiny vain busted inside his eye, God surely healed him. The doctor that was treating my dad cried that day, when he saw the tiny vain back in place. My dad could see clearly again. Believe or not, when God wants to bless you, there is nothing that can stop Him I guess. He is God.

My grandma entered heaven 2 days before because she had a very weak heart,it made me extremely sad because she is the one who took best care of me all these years.For not worrying about her,I hear this music repeatedly which gave me peace and comfort that my grandma is safe in the precious arms of our Lord Jesus Christ
My mother passed away on the 21st of September of stage 4 Glioblastoma (brain cancer). I spent days while she was in a coma in constant prayer with much anxiety and tears for her salvation. Eventually she breathed her last as I held her hand. Not sure where her soul is. Grief and uncertainty have besieged my soul but God has been gracious and tender toward me during this difficult season. Love your family and share the gospel with them even if they respond negatively. Life is fleeting and nothing is as important as their salvation.
I feel you. With increased knowledge comes increased suffering.. God has a plan for all of us... She must have done a good job...

Due to biker gangs that come in the middle of the night, I became deaf due to lack of sleep and lost my job. I went to Thailand and Laos to rest and refresh myself, but after returning home I became depressed. I became addicted to gambling and got into huge debts. My only comfort is the presence of the Lord and my creative work. I thought about suicide but I can't. May the Lord comfort me. May the Lord's blessings and comfort be with those who are suffering like me. Amen.

I know how you feel. When my aunt was dying in the hospital I’d play her songs such as this on my hammer dulcimer. She said once-David play me right into Jesus arms. At the funeral service I played by request of my cousin that I play. I played In Christ Alone(hardly could get through that myself) the played Jesus loves Me, How Great thou Art and finally played, and Nearer my God…. We all miss love ones and someday we will be rejoined with them. Remember our home is not here it’s with Jesus for eternity. We are just here a short time, like a vapor and soon we reach our final home.
