    I bought a very similar phal a few weeks ago. Lemon yellow, almost greenish, with a brighter yellow in the center. Just lovely.

    Hey hon great beginners content! Sometimes we forget cause we been growing so long what beginners go through now cause we have gained experience. So it's always good to go back and look through a beginners eye. 😊

      Hi 👋 Paula! Oh yes...it's so easy to forget what it was like when we were beginners. I hear from so many people just starting out...so I'm trying to start from the beginning, and hopefully it will help. Have a great day, my friend! 😇🌸🌺

      👋 Hi Sharon! The color is unique...it's not an ordinary find around here. So I'm glad I got it! Need a name for her, I don't like referring to an orchid as 'it'. Lol. Blessings to you dear friend 🧡 🌵😇🌸

    Recently I repotted a new noID mini phal with two spikes.
    During repotting, I didn't remove the stakes so one of the flower spikes with only four flowers and one bud snapped at the base.
    I placed it in a vase with some water and kept changing it but the flowers were starting to droop. After cutting about an inch off the flower spike at an angle, the flowers perked back up and the bud is opening.
    The other flower spike still has about 20 flowers. The flowers are yellow, red, and purple and is one of the orchids that had the best root system. It went from bark to bark so the transition probably isn't as risky. I didn't use any hydrogen peroxide this year because I think that's what killed a lot of my orchids last year.

      @OrchidWhisperer  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Joe, that sounds like a beautiful orchid with all those colors! I usually try to get my new orchids into fresh medium as soon as I get them, but this one is okay until it stops blooming. Sometimes if you repot them when they're still in bud, you can lose the buds. But not always.
      Unless you're concerned about bush snacks, there's no reason to use hydrogen peroxide. It can and will burn roots. I stopped using it altogether because of that reason. And I don't live in a place that has bush snail invasions.
      Have a great weekend!

      @@OrchidWhisperer About bud blast after repotting, Based on my experience so far, I think it is more common when changing the media from moss to bark.

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  4 місяці тому +1

      @@Joe-nj3bb I think you're exactly right...it's changing the type of medium that leads to bud blast. I just make sure to keep the orchid hydrated after repotting. Blooming orchids need a little extra water.

    Hi Amy! This is helpful! I only have one orchide-a rescue phal. She had stem and root rot with one viable root. Her one root is growing and I've got 2 root nubs. I'm hoping some day she'll recover and bloom eventually. So I need to learn all this! 😊

      @OrchidWhisperer Hope so! I've dropped the hints! Honestly Amy I was always scared of orchids until one day I realized I had many epiphitic plants in my collection and they were doing just fine! And I've used orchid bark and orchid pots for years. Oh I'm so happy about your Easter cactus! I'm patiently waiting for my hot pink one to bloom in the near future. Have a wonderful rest of the week my friend! ❤️

    Always good to be reminded of the basics. I’m a little confused as to what you are currently using to plant your orchids in. I’d be interested to learn what your phals, catts and oncidum types are in. I am having trouble finding the orchiata bark on the orchid supply store website. Does it go by a different name?

    HI Amy! I hope all is well! Thank you so much for this information. I have a Phal. FANGtastic Madeline Earl Cotton Candy which formed a Terminal Spike which also bloomed, someone told me that hopefully it will give me Keiki so that it will live on. I dont know what a Keiki looks like. Can you please talk about terminal spikes and Keiki why they form and what to look for. Should I be worried because it formed a terminal spike? I'm not sure if you have a video on this. ❤❤❤❤
