I have now sold quite a few of the series i mentioned in the video. I have a few new ones listed if you'd like to check out my vinted/ebay in the description!
A positive way of looking at it - I love the fact we got the opportunity to buddy read Love Me Love Me Not & Demon Prince, because if not, they may have just sat on your shelf without you knowing you didn't really like them! At least you have more room on your shelves now for some new Mangos 🥭🤩❤️
i highly recommend revisiting ' i hear the sunspot ' at some point, it truly is such a beautiful & eye opening series when you really sink yourself into it, especially in the later volumes and the art improves greatly with each volume.
I dropped rainbows days so fast too😭 Ughh I hate the forced kiss trope so icky. I was excited to read it since I heard there was a canon queer girl, which is pretty rare for shojo. So disappointing.
yeah :( i don't like how prevalent it is in shojo romances. I also think they did the queer girl in rainbow days dirty (i looked for a spoiler of the ending for her and it was terrible)
I don’t mind hearing people’s opinions on series whether they’re positive or negative. What people enjoy reading is so subjective anyways. I understand all the points you made for Rainbow Days. I cancelled my orders for that one as well right after reading vol 1 🤔 I Hear the Sunspot, though 😭😭haha I’m kidding. I really love it even though it’s gotten to be quite the slow burn. But it’s a heartwarming read. I def have those series on my shelves where I don’t dislike them, but just don’t feel compelled to (re)read them. So makes sense that you unhaul series like those~
I heard I hear the sunspot constantly gets better as the volumes go on! Maybe in the future hahaa but at this point I have too many other series I want to read! I think I just felt like doing a big unhaul recently due to just staring at my shelves and asking myself if I’m excited about the series and do I want to keep them on my shelf! It’s quite therapeutic doing it once in a while 😂😂
@@lyddiemoon totally understand that. there's too much manga getting released and it's faster than i can read lol. i actually did some unhauling as well and trying to do more just to free up some space and let go of series that were meh to me 🙃
Same here: I sold my whole “Love Me, Love Me Not” series just last week because I got tired of it - even though I love Io Sakisaka, “Love Me, Love Me Not” never really _captured_ for a similar reason (two main couples, neither of which imo is really interesting either) so I have no regrets about getting rid of it. 😌 Prince Freya as well: I read up to volume 8 or 9 (I don’t even remember) but stopped collecting it after that and have never felt the pull to pick it up and get more volumes, so I’ll probably sell the series on Vinted or somewhere like that.
Ahh, I feel the same about Orange. After reading the first Vol, I haven't got the urge to continue it, I actually put it up for sale today. Sunspot is something I do need to read soon though, also need to read more vols of Love Mix-Up. I was genuinely surprised about your thoughts on Rainbow though. Hope you're well 🙂x
I was waiting to see if you mentioned the same thing that irked me most with rainbow days( I finished reading it when it was releasing in scanlations though😅) Kei’s character annoyed the hell out of me and it got worse from this point( he is simply immature about everything in life) the s&m thing is probably just using some vanilla play with whips/cuffs but they kept harping on about it. Even the brother/teacher felt its normal. The second couple( gf with orange hair) is actually better in the later and final volumes. I also think the conversation you mentioned may have been translated weirdly, it was slightly different in translations. The guy is blunt that’s sure but we get his pov more. The playboy character kept falling for the violent girl more and more😂. Makes sense you dropped this. From male pov in high school, hatsu*haru is much better. Love me love me not: first couple that got together i liked them because of the girl, and step sibilings doesn’t bother me always, here it did a little. But i did believe the part where his dream made me realize his love for yuna. The second couple dragged on forever, the conflict was ridiculous. Strobe edge is still her best work in my opinion and the first I read back around 2010. Her latest work sakura saku has been licensed but i think it will be another variation of the same themes.
Ahhh im glad someone also felt abit irked by the series too, i heard only good things when the license announcement went out so i was really sad how disappointed i was. I had some of the next volumes preordered so i went ahead and cancelled them 🙁 For love me love me not I also felt the conflict dragged on forever aswell for the 2nd couple, like there was no obstacles stopping them from finally getting together but they just kept going back and forth with their feelings and it was just fustrating when the female lead was so strong at the start 😭
@@lyddiemoon would you believe that the sadist and playboy was voted most popular boys in shoujo magazine contest? 😣 I couldn’t believe how that can possibly be. The biggest flaw in this story in character design and other than character progression there is no plot to invest ourselves in. The series has been hyped too much, i did like the otaku couple a little ( who criticized hair color) there is a part near the end where they resolve relationship uncertainties and future plans really nicely. Still not enough to continue the series. The author had another work which I was too scared to start. I was thinking of starting play it cool guys, maybe as anime, because I love the voice actor cast🥰 this one won’t have romance like rainbow days I think.
At least you tried all these series! Some of them I really enjoy but I’ve also unhauled some of the same 😂 It’s always the best feeling making space on the shelf though!! Looking forward to see what you pick up next 😊 Also looking forward to reading I Hear The Sunspot 1&2!
Without unhauls I wouldn't be able to buy new manga.🙈 I'd love to have unlimited storing space but in reality I still need to get rid of manga that I enjoyed but aren't a 9 or 10 out of 10. Sadly.
I liked Rainbow days and also found the things with the s&m and playboy guy weird/kinda creepy (which is why I gave the s&m guy a creepy incel voice and the playboy guy a weird prince charming voice) and all but found the happy go lucky and otaku guy to be redeemable but that might just be me owning a lotta BL and Romance manga with healthy Relationships so I can't see the red flags as reasons to drop it (or it has something to with me liking things very easily)
I've been wanting to pick up Demon Prince, maybe I won't now. I've seen a lot of people compare it to Kamisama Kiss which I love. I think it's kinda silly that people get upset that other people don't like their favourite series, everyone has different tastes and experiences to get to where they are. I really enjoy Orange but it's definitely not for everyone. 🥰
I heard alot of kamisama kiss lovers said that they all thought kamisama kiss was better so it really is up to you if youre curious enough I think for me it's so interesting when people having differing opinions and i love hearing them!
I had exactly the same feelings about rainbow days! The boys where just majority unlikeable. The BDSM thing really gets me too, I just tried watching Guren Lagan the other day because of the hype and I had to drop it because the MC is a little boy but kept being in these sexual situations and it just repulsed me, I didn’t like fooly cooly for the same reason it’s just too disgusting to me.
I found it mostly strange because they made it seem like such a quirk as well and the narrative was pushed onto us as a reader constantly even in just the first volume. :/
i love classmates so much it hurt a bit when it came up but it also made me wonder if you kept up with it? i have a feeling you would've enjoyed blanc quite a bit
Im so sorry 😭 I did enjoy it when I read it back in the day so I hope it didn’t hurt too much ❤️ I never continued after the first 3 as I read it a few years ago and other volumes were not available then!
@lyddiemoon i did see it in the sneak peek so i was prepared a little! and sad to hear you never continued, they grow up over the span of the story and they're adults dealing with ~adult things~ in blanc (and home which i'm also waiting to get translated) that's why i feel like they would be more enjoyable for you taking everything you said in this video into consideration! but i'm glad you got to enjoy the series when you did even if you never pick it back up, it'll always be one of my favorites ❤️
I agree with the unhauling of prince freya. Ok I love historical mangas but I don't like to much romance in it. Current Favs being: Yona of the Dawn, The Apothecary Diaries, Ooku and The Holy grail of Eris. I also like author's to do some research and not just spew nonsense. Have you read a song of ice and fire? Have you seen the amount of work the author has put into it????
Omg! When people said it's like game of thrones i was so confused. yes there is death but the political plotline has so many loose threads and things just happen and get solved too easily and Freya is such a difficult character to like
My love mix up 😭 shame you didnt enjoy it but "it gets better" can only take you so far. Your reasons are valid. I think it's healthy to unhaul. Should be normalised. Hope you invest in some new series you'll enjoy 😊
