- I am a small animal veterinarian working in general practice. Too often I see cats who would benefit from being referred to a specialist for care. Too often the clients cannot afford to go. This is Daisy. She broken her leg at 4 weeks old. While placing a bandage or splint seems like a cheap, easy option it is not. These cases are hard to keep quiet, cage rest and hard to keep the bandage/splint clean and dry. After 2 weeks the bandage was not stabilizing the fracture. We tried multiple options. After 4 weeks I had to remove her splint because she was losing function of her ankle joint. We all struggled with Daisy and her leg. I do not talk about amputation until I am sure there is no other choice. Thankfully she is healed and doing great.
What a pretty dog. Exercise those muscles
