    Congratulations on 3 years. You got such an amazing horse that people would kill to have. You have done an amazing job with him. We have all said I quit I can't do this but then we get on and say why did I ever want to quit. This is how me and my pony are. People make fun of me cuz I'm 13 and still ride a pony. I don't care. I wish you well in the future. Just a tip, never give up and Milo will never give up on you. Now who put the onions out.

      Hoof Harted I'm about 5.6 and I ride a horse that's BARELY a horse, I normally don't ride anything over 15,3 but I'm looking into sharing a freaking giant soon 😂 I'm kinda scared

    • @beckatanner1786
      @beckatanner1786 7 років тому +3

      Hoof Harted I'm 5'8 and I ride a 14hh pony. I don't have my own horse so this is why I ride such a 'small' horse. it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's about what you think. Haters are going to hate. I'm 13 also, but I ride a pony. There is a girl at my school who is also 13 and the same height and show jumps 13-14.2hh horses. I also still have not found who put the onions out.

    • @kadenlake2087
      @kadenlake2087 7 років тому +3

      Hoof Harted no matter the size of your horse, if you are a skilled rider and a kind horseman you'll do fine. I'm raising a filly at the moment and she's 8 months old now. Vet predicts she'll barely break 15hh. As long as carrying me doesn't hurt her, and as long as carrying you doesn't hurt your horse, it doesn't matter if you look a little awkward.

    Milo's a gorgeous horse, and you look absolutely beautiful and graceful and elegant when riding him - the hard work and consistency that had to go into this is intensely impressive. I think you're wonderful, Milo's wonderful and you have a wonderful family behind you. Thank you for sharing this. :)

    More people need to see this. This is what being an equestrian is about. Not many people would rescue a young horse, they would much rather just go buy one with good breeding, so glad I have seen this.

    Thank you Shelby for starting my day on such a positive note. I wouldn't have watched it but my grandson's name is Milo and I was curious how the equine version would compare to the 7 year old human one. They have very similar energy levels and if my Milo could buck I know he would. I'm sure you get much less potty mouth from your Milo.
    Seriously, Milo the horse won the lottery when you got him. I can't imagine too many people would be as patient and kind with him as you have been. I loved it when you spoke of how his antics had improved your seat. Now that's positive thinking!
    The two of you look fantastic together and it's great to see you riding without a bit so much of the time. I look forward to seeing more of the two of you.

  • @mdee860

    So very glad you took the time with him. So many people "rush & ruin" horses because they have no patience & show anger. Such a waste. Milo, your "horse of a life-time" - is just that because you took the time with him. Happy for both of you. It was great that your Mom stepped in early on when you were becoming a bit frazzled with him. For people without that help, try taking your horse for a walk & a graze with grass they don't usually have access to. No pressure, just bonding.

    Videos like this make me cry. I rescued my horse as well. The difference being mine used to be a race horse and was bottle fed so he was super sweet. Though, abused badly and under weight. I did all the training with difficulties. He still wont take baths or fly spray. But the point is. I love the story of Milo now. I am subbing. Congrats.

    It is wonderful to see someone take on a horse like Milo. Thank you for showing us your work with him, as well as his wonderful personality. As an ADHD kid myself, I know what it feels like to have an overwhelming need to get your wiggles out..,and for no one to understand that need. It actually feels like a tickle inside that you can't reach; eventually it'll drive you(or someone else) crazy🤪 lol. My little Arabian was like him; everything brand new, everything scary, but a heart of gold. Thank you so much!

    I’m glad your keeping him.
    Your story has so many parallels as my adventure.
    My Morgan was a pencil necked geek was told I would be to big but he matured to a large Morgan. He was more forgiving omg than milo but at times he would get me off go his own way and frustrate me.
    But he eventually grew up. He was my once in A lifetime horse.
    It gives me great joy seeing you and milo and your story together.
    I had my piesporter till he was 28. And I hope you have a long time with milo.

    Shelby you deserve all the credit in the world for bringing this horse as far as you have. most people (including me) would have probably sold him. I really think you saved his life or at least gave him the type of quality of life nobody else would have had the patience to offer.

    What an amazing young woman you are! He has turned into a beauty and a horse to be proud of owning. May your future partnership with him be rewarding and fruitful for both of you. Who would have thought that that poor, half wild little scrag of a horse would have turned into the beauty that is Milo?!
